Chapter 38: Are You Scared?
The crimson fog in the sky cracked as a massive, fifty-foot blade of condensed, crimson steel materialized in the clouds.
Sharp air gashed out of its path as the falling edges moved like absolute destroyers. Sweat dripped down the crowd of students’ faces when they watched the descending weapon with widened eyes.
Mimi stood up and cupped her face in her palms, shifting her pale face between the massive edge and Levi’s position in the arena. "Levi!"
She turned sharply and closed her eyes with trembling shoulders. "No... no... no..."
Mia’s eyebrow raised with burning anger for the human now as small as an ant at the base of the plunging steel.
A deafening roar tore from the skies and aimed straight toward Levi’s head as he shifted his gaze upward.
The stone bleachers of the stadium groaned and cracked when the forceful wind from the crimson blade slammed on them.
Lyra and a few other Battle Mages, of which Clara was part, stood on their feet and activated their defensive kinetic walls around the edges of the stadium when the bleachers shattered.
The weapon’s downward weight intensified and caused seven of the Battle Mages to stumble down with trembling fingers.
The roaring pressure seeped into the audience, prompting two golden lights to splash from the VIP section and form a bright glowing wall at the front of the students.
Mia’s heart pounded heavy in her chest when she saw the crimson glow getting blocked by the golden wall at the last second before it hit her eyes. freewēbnoveℓ.com
Saintess Lilith lowered her gold glowing hand slightly and exhaled shallowly when she saw Levi standing there with no intention of dodging the cataclysmic strike. ’Don’t stand there, master.’
Mother Beatrice’s eyebrows raised when she looked away from Lilith and focused on Levi. ’No!’
Levi’s chest heaved as he closed his eyes and inhaled the burning wind welcoming the huge crimson construct.
The blood-red fire reached five feet from his face, and the Sovereign Mark on his chest flared upward.
Countless glows also seeped out of the blue and golden kinetic walls as Lyra’s, Senna’s, Lilith’s, and Mother Beatrice’s marks ignited, dashing toward the threat.
A brilliant radiance flashed from the four as they unified into a singular beam and aimed toward his chest.
The elders slammed their palms on their chairs and stood on their feet with pale faces.
"What is going on!" Black spots scattered around Elder Juliet’s eyes when she screamed and pointed a trembling hand toward the arena.
Saintess Lilith tilted her head slightly and grinned at Elder Juliet. ’What you’ve waited to see long ago.’
The other elders covered their faces when a translucent, rotating barrier of gold, crimson, dark blue, and silver energy appeared above Levi’s head.
BOOM!
A seismic collision occurred and sent a shockwave of unadulterated energy exploding outward. The top layer of sand got stripped away, while the burning kinetic walls and the grand arena’s triangular ceiling shattered.
Every tower’s glass window within a three-mile radius shattered and rained on the alleyways of Aethermoor.
Levi’s boots sank deep into the black glassed earth that had disintegrated into fine powder, but he didn’t fall or have fear in his eyes.
Maya’s blazing crimson eyes widened for a second as her smile vanished into shock. ’What did he just do?’
She looked down at her slightly trembling arms, then back at the slave standing there with a wide smile on his face. ’They’ve got to be kidding!’
Levi blinked at Maya’s unstableness, then tanked the remaining energy and brushed his palms on the burning sleeve of his shirt. "Are you scared?"
The translucent panel appeared before his eyes when he moved a step forward and caused a concussive wave through the earth.

The ground rumbled like waves as he closed the distance with Maya.
The tips of Maya’s crimson silk gown wobbled as she stumbled a step back. "How... how are you still standing?"
Her wine-hair snapped widely around her face as she hissed. ’He shouldn’t be able to consume such power!’
Bone-crackling sounds erupted around her as she clenched her fist. ’He has no poise in this world to take my imperial pride this easily!’
She directed her flaring magical blade toward Levi, then grinned.
’Hasn’t she had enough?’ Levi’s eyes flared with a flicker of crimson-gold glow when he looked back up at the hovering weapon.
He sighed and closed his eyes, letting his body feel the immense pressure before it even reached him.
Muffled voices and insults got hurled from the students as they stood on their feet and began calling on the despised, annoying utility worker to move away.
All the veins on Mia’s neck shimmered on her skin as she swiped her arm through the heated air as if commanding Levi. "Get out of the way, you fucking bastard!"
She screamed in a wordless cry and caught everyone’s attention, including Mimi.
Mia hissed and chuckled when she saw Mimi staring at her. ’I can’t finalize my anger on a dead man. He should better win the match and come die in my arms.’
Clara clutched her palms together and narrowed her gaze at Levi. ’Please... please...’
"Alright..." Levi’s veins appeared on his arms as he raised them upward. "Time for action."
He sighed and slammed his right arm against the side of Maya’s massive steel construct in a casual swipe. ’Go back to where you came from.’
CRAACK!
A massive blast echoed as the mountain-shattering sword’s blade shattered into a million sparkling red fragments.
Elder Juliet gulped hard when the shattered fragments began raining down on the arena like harmless embers.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she stumbled back and collapsed in her seat. "No... no... that’s impossible."
Two of the other four elders cast worried looks at her, while the remaining two had a slight joy hidden in their irises.
Elder Noona and Alice exchanged welcoming glances, then turned their attention toward Saintess Lilith and Mother Beatrice with one word ramming in their heads.
’We’ve finally gotten someone to take charge.’
