Chapter 1498: Chapter 69: Enchanting Demon (Part 2)
But how did Helair do it?
Her current rank should be around the eighteenth to nineteenth rank, and she shouldn’t have any particularly powerful surveillance methods, right? It’s unlikely she could constantly keep watch on me.
Nonetheless, they did manage to calm Emhardt for a bit, and soon they set off, moving towards the edge of the Competitive Gate.
"Ah, guest, did you deliver my letter of thanks and gifts to the Elliog Demon?"
When they leapt back to the previous place, the bandaged, skeleton-like Solomon trembled as he walked out of his narrow, simple black stone house. Seeing the emptiness in Fisher’s hands, he visibly broke into a smile.
Fisher nodded affirmatively, which made him even more excited as he stepped forward to fulfill his promise to Fisher.
"Well, well, well... Is there anything the guest needs help with? Although I may not be of much assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask if there’s anything you require."
"...We don’t need any help, just happened to do it along the way, I appreciate your kindness."
Solomon nodded and then smiled, pointing to his chest, seemingly referring to the Demon Scroll on Fisher, and said,
"Alright, guest... If you want to know something, it’s actually written quite clearly on my previous scroll. If there’s anything unclear or if you want to contact me, you can speak to these Little Demons nearby. Though they may not communicate effectively, if you say my name, they will definitely come to find me."
Fisher raised an eyebrow, questioning,
"Can a prisoner, deceived by Demon God Baal, still manipulate these Little Demons?"
Solomon showed a wry smile under his bandages and then explained,
"It’s not manipulation, merely understanding the thoughts of these creatures. Spend enough time with them, and it’s manageable."
Behind him, Moli rubbed Fisher’s hand, prompting him to turn his head, only to find Moli also gazing at the stone wall beside them. Dimly, Little Demons, with no mind yet eyes glowing eerily, were crawling and hiding there, all intently staring at them, creating an uncomfortable vibe.
"...Goodbye."
"Ah, take care, guest."
Fisher didn’t linger, turning to lead Moli in the direction Elliog had previously indicated.
He was of Mythical Rank, and with his recent enhancement from reproduction, his body was much more agile than before, and Moli was also light-footed, constantly flitting among the lava. Every dozens of miles, they could spot a palace much less grand than that of Elliog, each distinct in style and form, likely once inhabited by a Demon God.
As Elliog had mentioned, in reality, the connections between these demons were quite limited. Except for a few like the partnership between Barbatos and Sidi, or the close friendship between Agares and Elliog, most demons went about their own business, ignoring one another, with their palaces spaced far apart.
"Speaking of which, Mr. Fisher, didn’t you mention earlier that those two demons called... um, Barbatos and Agares were released by Paimon, driven by the promise of their freedom as payment? I can understand why the Barbatos demon listens to her, since Sir Book mentioned he has a partner named ’Sidi’... but what about Agares? Does she also have a partner that needs saving?"
"No, Agares has no partner."
"Then... these demons seem not to have good relationships with each other, so why would Agares help Paimon?"
Emhardt on Fisher’s shoulder shook his head, saying so, and Fisher, recalling, also said,
"Elliog told me earlier that relationships among the demons are quite loose, and then I didn’t even know there were four highest-ranking Kings among them, and Paimon is one of them. But even then, these Kings don’t really manage affairs or care much for their kin, only reigning because of their immense power and knowledge... Yet, Agares alone is an exception. She takes on many responsibilities within the Dynasty, arguably the spokesperson besides the four Kings of the Demon Dynasty.
"She proactively took on responsibilities unrelated to her, indicating there were things she thought worthwhile and wanted to be part of. Therefore, she likely has many close friends in the Dynasty, and Elliog is one of them. Otherwise, with her laid-back nature, she wouldn’t have agreed to leave the Dynasty to hunt down Erwin. It seems she values her friendships with those close friends quite a lot, or she wouldn’t have agreed to Helair’s invitation..."
Looking at the clueless Moli behind him, Fisher smiled slightly, turning back to ask her,
"Hasn’t your mother told you these things?"
Fisher initially instinctively wanted to say "Aunt Xuan Can," but for some reason, the face of his brother named Hooked Kiss flashed in his mind. Xuan Can was his wife, and calling her anything felt strange, so he opted for a less specific term.
"Um, no, Mother never talked to me about the Demon Dynasty, but maybe she had visited before, because there’s an unusual short sword with a strange aura at home... Mother said that thing was a creation of the demons, called something like... rune?"
