Chapter 6: Script With A Slight Change

Half doubtful and half suspicious, Fred expressed with one of his brows raised.

"Uh, yeah. Sure?"

He made subtle gestures as his eyes moved around the place to see if there were people, who surely were, looking at them.

Placing the tray on the table, Cillian smiled and quietly ’prepared’ his food.

Fred, halfway through finishing his meal, also focused on eating silently.

The two didn’t converse or even communicate as if they were strangers merely eating at the same table, only because there weren’t any available tables left in the cafeteria.

That couldn’t be very true since there were clearly a lot available everywhere. It isn’t like the second-year and the third-year students were with them that filled the dining hall.

After a few minutes with only their utensils making clinging sounds, Fred was finally done with his food.

Cillian was the opposite, as not a single rice or food was touched on his plate.

His gaze was only on Fred alone, like a crazed fangirl looking at his idol.

Even if Cillian ’prepared’ his food, it looked like he just mixed a bunch of things on the plates he had on his tray, that it looks disgusting to see.

It made Fred uncomfortable watching it all, and as Cillian continued not to talk, he only forced himself to start a conversation.

"What do you want from me?"

Fred asked, his tone had a hint of annoyance and more of suspiciousness.

"Why do you expect that I want something from you?"

Cillian retorted with an amused smile, more like a smug expression for everyone to see.

Creasing his brows as if he were confused, Fred looked at Cillian’s plate.

"Well, first, you didn’t touch your food, well, barely. Second, you kept looking at me while I was eating, sizing me up for what? Third, and the final case..."

Fred paused, his eyes making a dangerous glare.

"You have the guts to look me in the face now. If we weren’t in a predicament, I would’ve beaten you into a pulp."

’Ohh... I suddenly got chills.’

Fred Menestin

An only child of the nobility, Menestin Family, a subsidiary family of the Viola Family. He is Fergus’ close friend and has been his right-hand man ever since they met.

From Cillian’s memories, the only reason he was near these two bigshots in this territory was because of a certain history.

Cillian’s parents were under their care, with no wealth, no fame, and no power whatsoever given by them.

That’s why little Cillian has been tasked by his parents to latch onto them by any means necessary. It didn’t matter what method as long as he got close to them. By befriending the two powerhouses, Cillian can get as close to their power as possible.

It was a pathetic core memory the current Cillian had to remember.

Alas, Cillian had crawled his way up to the position of ’third’ in their gang, The Brotherhood. Yet Cillian made a certain rule to never get too close to them lest he make a mistake, anger them, and be disposed because he was prying too much.

So what was his redeeming quality?

Cillian was smart, and that was something the two recognized by teaming up with him.

Though currently, Fred was facing an entirely different person who wouldn’t cower himself in a fight, no matter how small or big it was.

Even if the previous Cillian was smart, the current one, Raymond, who inhabited his body, is more cunning and mischievous.

’Of course, I know when to give up or not, and this kind of situation is something I wouldn’t give up on.’

"Times have changed, Fred. Like me, who can look you in the eye, the same thing is happening at the Brotherhood. Why aren’t you doing anything? Won’t you do anything? Well, speaking of the gang—"

Cillian already had the script laid on his mind, and he only had to speak it out from his head to finish it off when Fred cut him, immediately interjecting his words.

"Right, speaking of the gang..."

Fred took a pause.

"I quit." freēwēbnovel.com

"..."

Cillian was dumbfounded at first, his face twisted in a weird way.

"Y-you quit...?"

Cillian angrily tapped his table.

’Why... I was supposed to do that first! You beat me to it!’

Prior to coming here, Cillian walked from different kinds of places to gather news, particularly to the Brotherhood.

Alas, he discovered that they are only four members left on it when there were a total of almost fifty people on it when it was at its peak.

Those members were Cillian, Phillip, Vin, and Fred.

Thus, Fred’s announcement of his departure from the gang brought Cillian off his guard, clearly planning the one quitting up first which is the plan in the first place.

He deliberately waited for this to happen as some factions in the school chipped away their brotherhood since it contained some remarkable students. Who wouldn’t want powerful men on their side?

He expected that the group would be reduced to a certain degree, and the four members left had made it easy for him, which is why he wasn’t afraid of being ganged up on by a lot of them once he started the ’show’ he was about to do.

’Wait just a moment... this might actually just work...’

Cillian, clearly removing the negative thoughts inside his head, looked straight ahead as he properly put his thoughts back on track,

’This is a blessing in disguise!’

Cillian had to make tweaks to his plan, trying to change his demeanor to a more angry and gloomy manner.

Pursing his lips, he asked a question.

"Why?"

Fred laughed in ridicule.

"Why? Well, the moment Fergus was taken from juvenile prison, anyone realized that this was bound to fall. Even Lord Viola couldn’t do anything since it was in accordance with the Nobility Law that they must not use their power to abuse commoners or fellow nobility.

"The law is an absolute ruler, something that can’t be bent. We don’t even know where he was captive, but there is a slim chance of him returning here. Unless he transferred to another Sorcery Academy. However, he will be branded as an outcast."

’How funny. If only Fergus hadn’t been played by the hands of that ancient organization and made his attempt on the main character in secret, he wouldn’t have been in a position. Law my ass.’

Cillian mused inwardly.

Law?

As long as this law didn’t see it happening, enacting it to a powerhouse would be all for naught.

The thing about that incident is that it was widely known.

Cillian didn’t care about these matters, though.

The only thing on his mind is the plan and it excites him.

Practicing his facial contractions with ease, Cillian glared at Fred and expressed his hate.

"Because of that? We can rebuild it together!"

"Hah, don’t make me laugh! A commoner like you with no nobility status had no right to talk to me that way!"

Practicing his act while remembering the script, Cillian showed everyone his haggard breathing as if to show he couldn’t believe what was happening.

His eyes were full of malice as he continued sizing up Fred.

"I’m out."

Calming himself down and not wanting to escalate it any further, as they had already garnered enough attention from their heated conversation, Fred cut it off and was about to turn around when Cillian shouted at him.

"Fred Menestin! You!"

Cillian threw his food at Fred, splashing them on his shirt. Right after, he landed a punch at his face that made direct contact with a loud smash.

Pak—!

Sliding barely from his previous place, Fred’s face looked to the side.

[White Flag] -> [Red Flag]

Fred directed his gaze at Cillian while spitting out a loose tooth from his bleeding mouth.

At first, Fred tried to activate a ’circle’ but quickly refrained from it as there was no need to use it as someone of Cillian’s caliber. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

"You must be out of your mind!"

With a hoarse laugh, Fred launched forward.

On the other side, with his acting still in play not nearing its end, Cillian rushed at him at the same speed.

Pak—!

The two started fighting, throwing punches at their opponent brutally.

"You stupid Fred! How could you quit!"

"You fucking brat running around his mouth! You think you’re something now, huh?!"

On the inside, Cillian was beyond ecstatic.

’Goodness! This is so fun! So this is what they call school fighting, huh! Absolute cinema! We’re just throwing hands!’

If it were others who were the receiving end of Fred’s punches, they might not have been smiling like Cillian, who was enjoying this.

The only time this stopped was when the instructors came and stopped their actions that were disrupting the academy’s peace.

Soon, the two of them were brought to the first year’s disciplinary office. In other words, to the first year’s principal office.

...

Inside a room where both Cillian and Fred were being held captive, a person was currently looking at them.

It was a fat, middle-aged man with a beard that stretched towards his huge neck and ugly facial features. He had no hair, and his bald head was shining through the glowing stone stuck to the wall.

He was the principal for the first years, Bard Decker.

Bard was looking warmly at Fred but full of malice at Cillian.

He knew the importance of the position between two people in the room, with the former being a noble while the latter isn’t one.

’Talk about unfairness.’

Cillian thought inwardly while still smirking.

As a principal for the first years and the disciplinary teacher for them, Bard knew where to put his blame when there was an important figure involved.

With a calm breath, Bard looked at Fred.

"Mister Menestin, please head to the infirmary and let your injuries heal."

Fred clicked his tongue and nodded before shooting one last glance at Cillian with distaste as he left the room.

Bard, controlling his facial expression, waited for Fred to leave before bringing all his attention to Cillian.

With a long heave, Bard shouted loudly.

"What were you doing, Mister Sparrow!?"
