Chapter 15: Chapter 14: The Secret Record of the Three-Phase, 6-Seal, 9-Aperture Pill Solidification
Xuzhuang hesitated for a moment before replying helplessly, "To be honest, Senior, it isn’t that I’m being possessive. It’s just that my method of success was quite unique and may involve elements that are impossible to replicate."
As he spoke, Xuzhuang produced a blank jade slip with a flip of his hand. A spiritual light pulsed in his palm as characters flowed into the slip. In moments, the recording was complete, and he presented it to the Book Immortal. "You’ll understand once you’ve seen it, Senior."
In the Profound Yellow Realm, when a Cultivator wishes to form a Golden Core, there are three methods:
The Low-grade method: one either refines a Demon Pill or consumes medicinal pills, relying on external forces to condense a Golden Core. This results in a Low-grade Golden Core.
A Low-grade Golden Core is formed with the help of external forces, and there progress halts, with no possibility of further advancement.
The middle-grade method requires a Cultivator to cultivate three phenomena during the Dao Foundation and Technique Refining stages. These are known as the Inner Three Medicines and signify a complete foundation. They must then gather three rare heavenly and earthly treasures, known as the "Outer Three Medicines." This combination is known as the Six Harmonies Great Medicine.
With the Six Harmonies Great Medicine gathered, a cultivator can attempt to form a Golden Core. Success yields a Middle Grade Golden Core.
Although a Middle Grade Golden Core is not perfect, one still has a chance to advance further and cultivate a Nascent Soul. However, the hope of shedding the mundane to grasp the true self and leaping past the Life and Death Profound Gate is incredibly slim.
With the Superior Skill, a Cultivator must forge a perfect foundation and gather the Six Harmonies Great Medicine during their cultivation before the Golden Core realm. Even so, they cannot rashly attempt to form a Golden Core. Instead, they must continue to temper themselves and await a fateful opportunity.
No one knows when this opportunity will arrive, when it will depart, or what it will feel like. Of the countless cultivators who reach this point, each has a unique experience. It is mystery upon mystery, impossible to put into words. One can only wait quietly for the fated moment. Then, when the cosmic forces align, they will forge a Top-grade Golden Core.
With a perfect Top-grade Golden Core, the Nascent Soul will form naturally. Only then can one hope to reach the Primordial Spirit Realm.
And what was recorded in this jade slip was the Condensing Pill Secret Technique that Xuzhuang had obtained from an Immortal Mansion he explored while roaming the world.
The Immortal Mansion was nameless, as were its techniques. It contained three Secret Techniques: the Three-Phase Technique, the Six Seal Technique, and the Nine Acupoint Technique. These corresponded to the three methods a cultivator uses to solidify their pill. By using these techniques for pill formation, one would automatically gain Divine Techniques and be able to smelt various Daoist arts, freely generating all kinds of True Qi, Magical Power, and Sword Qi.
The Three-Phase Technique forbids the cultivator from refining a Demon Pill. In addition to consuming the requisite medicinal pills, they must also prepare three other precious herbs. When a pill is formed using the Three-Phase Technique, it will exhibit three phases, allowing the cultivator to master three fundamental true techniques.
For the Six Seal Technique, the cultivator must not only gather the Six Harmonies Great Medicine but also consume six specific pills mentioned in the technique. This must be supplemented with three precious herbs and three Heavenly and Earthly Treasures. When a pill is formed using the Six Seal Technique, six seals will appear on it, allowing the cultivator to master the Six Fundamental True Techniques.
The Nine Acupoint Technique requires the cultivator to gather not only the Six Harmonies Great Medicine but also nine other types of Heavenly and Earthly Treasures. Each of these must be exceptionally precious—so priceless they’re beyond measure, some existing only in legend. If by some miracle one succeeds in forming a pill with the Nine Acupoint Technique, the finished pill will have nine orifices, allowing the cultivator to master the Nine True Techniques.
Not only did each of these three methods require exponentially more resources than the last, but they also did the opposite of what was expected. Ordinary pill formation techniques sought to increase the chances of success; however, these three techniques successively *decreased* the probability of success by thirty, sixty, and ninety percent!
To put it in perspective, with a standard Low-grade Pill Formation Technique, the only rare components are the Demon Pill and the medicinal pills; the method itself is almost foolproof. But if one were to use the Three-Phase Technique to forge a Low-grade Golden Core, not only would the resource cost be doubled, but the near-certain chance of success would vanish. For a technique like that to only produce a Low-grade Golden Core was clearly illogical, to say nothing of the Six Seal and Nine Acupoint Techniques.
As expected, when the Book Immortal Taoist took the jade slip and glanced at it, his brow immediately furrowed. After a long while, he let out a long sigh. "Such a method... it puts the cart before the horse. It cannot be called a superior technique."
After another moment of contemplation, he asked, "Let’s set aside the Three-Phase and Six Seal techniques. Even if they can’t forge a Top-grade Golden Core, they’re nothing remarkable. But this Nine Acupoint Technique... achieving a Top-grade Golden Core is already a one-in-ten-thousand feat. To succeed using this method would be even harder. I have run countless simulations, and I’ve concluded that it is absolutely impossible to form a pill this way. Xuzhuang, how did you do it?"
Xuzhuang replied, "To be honest, Senior, during my fateful encounter in the Immortal Mansion, I obtained a great treasure alongside the Condensing Pill Secret Technique. It was a flask of an immortal essence called Pure Yang Qi. Only with its help was I able to successfully form my Golden Core."
"What?" The Book Immortal looked utterly incredulous. "Pure Yang Qi?"
It was no wonder the Book Immortal Taoist was so shocked. The "Pure Yang" in its name didn’t refer to the common concept of yang in yin-yang. Instead, it referred to essence—to original truth.
There is a saying: "To cultivate the Dao, one must first cultivate ’Truth’." This refers to the cultivation of one’s true self, of discarding the false to grasp the true. Only after attaining this true self—a pure and authentic "Pure Yang Body"—can one even begin to speak of cultivating the "Dao."
When a Cultivator perceives their original nature, leaps past the Life and Death Profound Gate, and forges a Primordial Spirit to attain immortality, they can be called a Zhenren.
A Primordial Spirit True Man must temper themselves and maintain their true self. It takes an unknown amount of time and countless calamities before they can finally become a Pure Yang True Monarch—a being capable of roaming the void, plucking stars from the sky, manipulating creation, and wielding immeasurable Divine Techniques.
The "Pure Yang" of Pure Yang Qi was precisely this "Pure Yang." Whether Pure Yang Qi was the primordial energy required for a Pure Yang True Monarch’s cultivation, a special True Qi refined by a Pure Yang True Monarch, or a heavenly treasure of unknown origin from the world... Xuzhuang did not know. He only knew that this Qi’s uses were endless. Increasing Magical Power, empowering Divine Techniques, nourishing the soul... using it for pill formation, Alchemy, or Artifact Refining was a gross underutilization of its power.
According to legend, a single wisp of Pure Yang Qi could alter a cultivator’s innate talent. A single wisp could extend one’s lifespan by a thousand years. A single wisp could mend the deficient foundation of a Low-grade Golden Core, rekindling the hope of reaching the Nascent Soul realm. A single wisp could help a cultivator comprehend their true self, perhaps even granting them the fateful opportunity needed for a Top-grade Golden Core. A single wisp could vastly increase the chances of successful pill formation. It was truly an object capable of defying heaven and changing one’s fate.
It was precisely by obtaining this flask of Pure Yang True Qi that Xuzhuang had managed to defy heaven and change his fate. His innate talent was altered, his comprehension soared, he perceived his true self, and he succeeded in forming his pill. He had used the Nine Acupoint Technique to forge a Top-grade Golden Core. With just half of the *Tai Su Qi Scripture*, he had mastered the Innate Tai Su Qi Grand Capture. And with a few key principles from the *Tai Su Formless Sword Qi*, he had developed an ever-changing Swordsmanship.
"Pure Yang Qi? A whole flask?"
The Book Immortal Taoist’s face twitched, and he muttered under his breath, ’If I had a flask of Pure Yang Qi, I might be able to survive the Fire Calamity... I might even be able to forge a Pure Yang Treasure in the future...’ His eyes locked onto Xuzhuang as he asked, "You used it all?"
’A Pure Yang Treasure?’ Xuzhuang’s eyelids twitched violently. ’This is bad!’ he thought. His Magical Power unconsciously began circulating at full force, yet he dared not move a muscle. "That’s right..." he managed to reply.
The air seemed to freeze. The entire third floor of Langhuan Tower fell silent. After a long moment, the Book Immortal Taoist let out a long sigh. "It is fate!" With a flick of his great sleeve, he vanished in an instant, leaving no trace behind.
Xuzhuang had just breathed a sigh of relief when three Daoist Scriptures suddenly fell in front of him. The Book Immortal’s faint voice drifted to his ears, "This is a gift to thank you for resolving my doubts. They are the personal cultivation notes from the past patriarchs of the three great lineages."
Xuzhuang picked up the Daoist Scriptures, bowed to the empty air, and said, "Thank you, Senior." freēwēbnovel.com
This time, there was no reply.
Xuzhuang breathed another sigh of relief. Not dwelling on the matter, he turned his attention back to the jade slip in his hand and was soon completely engrossed in its contents.
