Chapter 562: Chapter 562 : (Extras) Strolling Down Memory Lane (9)

Before Xie Jianyu could react, Huang Taichen had already turned around and pulled him into a tight embrace. The man buried his face into Xie Jianyu’s shoulder and sobbed like a child.

"Shizun," he sobbed. "Shizun, it’s you, right? I don’t even want to ask how you land in this body. Just say that it’s you."

Xie Jianyu’s body was stiff all over, but he eventually relented and gave his former disciple a pat on the head.

"Yes," he confirmed. "It’s me."

More than ten years had passed since they had last seen each other, but Huang Taichen had never forgotten this shizun of his. Xie Jianyu, on the other hand, had always been plagued by guilt whenever he thought back to his days as Qiao Wei.

He had taken Huang Taichen under his wings, but their time together was fleeting. Too short for him to teach Huang Taichen anything, let alone guide him in cultivation. freewёbnoνel.com

After he returned to his original body and assumed his old identity as the crown prince of the Heavenly Empire, Xie Jianyu thought about finding a loophole to return to the human realm without messing with fate. And yet, one thing after another kept happening.

He became pregnant for the second time, and neither Zhang Fengxi nor Xie Jianshen wanted to see him anywhere close to the human realm.

After he gave birth, Tingting clung to him day and night, refusing to let him go.

Once Tingting no longer needed him as much, Xie Jianshen began giving him one task after another, one more demanding than the last.

Xie Jianyu barely had time for himself.

His free time was divided between his children and his needy husband, who pestered him night after night.

Years slipped by, and with each one, Xie Jianyu’s guilt grew heavier. He carried its weight in his heart, yet remained completely at a loss, never knowing what to do.

This was probably his one and only chance to make amends for Huang Taichen, whom he had abandoned for so long. Too long.

"Huang Taichen, listen to me."

In the darkness, they were unable to look at each other’s faces, but Huang Taichen did not waver in his conviction at all. This person was his shizun, no matter the shell.

"Yes, Shizun," he obediently said in reply.

"The art of beast-taming is..."

Xie Jianyu taught Huang Taichen everything he needed to know then and there, as they were shrouded in darkness. Truthfully, as the pioneer of the beast-taming path in the mortal realm, there was little practical knowledge Xie Jianyu had to share. The most important thing for Huang Taichen right now was to find his own path.

A path that propels him to the apex of the cultivation world in his own right.

A path that was different from others, and yet not inferior to others.

Huang Taichen listened carefully, and with every word he absorbed, his confidence soared higher and higher.

By the time Xie Jianyu ended his little lecture, Huang Taichen was practically a changed man.

Why was he so stupid?

Why couldn’t he figure it out by himself?

Oh, his shizun was simply the wisest, the smartest, the greatest cultivator of all times!

Huang Taichen dropped to his knees and kowtowed in front of Xie Jianyu again and again, banging his forehead to the ground in profound reverence.

"Thank you, Shizun, for your guidance! This foolish disciple is unworthy!"

Xie Jianyu grabbed his disciple’s arms and dragged him to his feet.

"That’s enough," he said. "Now that you know what I have always wanted you to do, I want you to go back out there as a changed man. No more engaging in such foolish endeavors!"

Huang Taichen’s lower lip trembled slightly from Xie Jianyu’s scolding. And then, carefully, he asked, "But Shizun, what about the group of cultivators out there? If I leave them to their vices, won’t they die senselessly in the hands of the demonic beasts?"

Xie Jianyu gave a soft chuckle.

"Huang Taichen, the ones who came with you are cowards. They left a while ago after a little scare."

A little scare?

Huang Taichen gulped.

"Then... Shizun, won’t you come with me?"

"No."

"B-but... But why?"

"There is something else I need to do here," Xie Jianyu softly said. "Go back now. Remember, always stick to your true path and never let anyone’s flawed judgment lead you astray."

Huang Taichen thought that the entire situation was too weird, but he did not dare disobey his shizun. In the end, he decided to leave the underground cavity alone.

Left behind, Xie Jianyu turned around and stood at the edge of the cliff, squinting at the darkness beneath his feet.

After a while, the sound of familiar footsteps was heard and a pair of strong arms wrapped themselves around his torso.

Xie Jianyu leaned against the alpha’s torso and raised one hand to trace the latter’s strong jawline.

"It sure took you a while."

With a grunt, Zhang Fengxi rubbed his nose against Xie Jianyu’s jade-like, slender neck.

Xie Jianyu’s brows tightened into a furrow when his alpha bit him in the crook of his neck.

"Hiss... Fengxi, stop it."

"I told you time and time again not to let anyone stick you with his scent," Zhang Fengxi growled, his displeasure hardly concealable. "After we go back home, I am going to wash you properly from head to toe."

Xie Jianyu’s lips curled into a naughty smile. He wanted to say something romantic in return, but then several voices were heard coming from the darkness in the ravine.

"Mom, Dad, we can hear you loud and clear."

"Totally. Ewww. You are old. Are you still doing it?"

Both Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi widened their eyes and broke into an elated smile. Now that the boys had transformed back into their human forms, it meant that the differentiation process had been completed.

"Shall we, baby?"

Zhang Fengxi draped an arm around Xie Jianyu’s waist. Xie Jianyu nodded with a smile and together they leaped off the cliff.
