Chapter 94: Chapter 94 Felicity.
Roman smirked as we drove, and it wasn’t long before we were in the heart of downtown, an area where I never really went. He pulled up to the curb, where a black SUV was sitting. It pulled out and moved-clearly one of his men holding a space for him — and he parked.
"Here we are," he said.
Without waiting for my response, Roman got out of the car and went around to the front. He leaned casually against the hood like a classic model, while I looked around trying to figure out what was going on.
He wasn’t joking about not taking me shopping; this was not where you would go for that. This looked more like the part of the city where you’d find bankers and lawyers. He glanced back at me over his shoulder, and rather than protest anymore, I got out of the car and went over to him.
"Did you open me a 401(k)?" I asked.
"What?"
"I dunno, this looks like the financial center," I shrugged. Roman pointed ahead of us to a very imposing building. "Look there."
"Okay...what am I looking for?" I asked, very confused.
"Just watch," he said. He threw an arm around me as we stood there. I decided it would be best just to wait. Whatever it was he had planned was clearly a big deal to him, so I kept my mouth shut and waited.
I realized there were a lot of people waiting around outside of the building. Many of them had cameras and microphones...
The media!?
I glanced at Roman, who smiled as I started putting the pieces together.
No. It can’t be...
Just then, the doors opened to what I now realized was the courthouse, and all hell broke loose.
A horde of people — lawyers, reporters, and police-emerged from the building. The rest of the media waiting outside rushed them like a football defense line, shouting questions and pushing microphones in their faces.
"Roman —? "
"Right there," he said, pointing to the center of the fray.
I followed his finger and saw the reason he’d brought me here. Surrounded by cops, his arms handcuffed behind his back, was Tony Colombo.
"Is that...?"
"Guilty verdict," Roman replied.
"Him and at least half his crew are going to jail for the rest of their lives. No parole."
"You’re joking..."
I could hardly believe it. The world seemed to move in slow motion as the big gangster, the one responsible for killing my parents, came down the steps and was greeted by the media circus.
"Tony! What do you have to say about your verdict?!" a reporter shouted. "Will you be filing an appeal!?" freёwebnovel.com
"No comment at this time!" his lawyer growled.
"Do you have anything to say to the families of the people you had killed!?"
My mouth hung open as Roman wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me to him. I felt a wave of relief that I wasn’t prepared for. Roman hadn’t even hinted to me that this was on the verge of happening, but as I watched my parents’ killer be brought down the court steps and ushered toward a police car, I was suddenly filled with emotion.
Tony spied us and flailed against the cops holding him back. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
"You son of a bitch, Reigns!" he screamed. "You’ll get yours; you prick!"
"Not in this life!" Roman laughed back. “Enjoy your time!"
As they slid Tony into the back seat of the cruiser and slammed the door, Roman took my hand and I couldn’t help but feel like my parents were with me watching.
They weren’t with me anymore, but at least now the whole world would know what had happened to them. And it was all thanks to my incredible fiancé.
"See that?" he asked me. "Justice."
I turned to him, feeling the tears beginning to well up in my eyes, and gazed at him with a newfound intensity.
I saw the gorgeous man who’d stolen my heart and saw the rest of our lives together. It felt incredible to know that he would always be by my side and that I could rely on him for anything.
Regardless of what anyone else thought — or what his reputation might be — I knew he was a good man (even if he wouldn’t admit it).
"I love you so much, baby," I told him.
Roman gave me that look that made me melt inside and brushed a piece of hair from my cheek. His eyes were fierce, strong, and possessive.
“Not as much as I love you," he replied.
His kiss wrapped me in a glowing golden basket of bliss and his strong arms held me, letting me know that I was safe...I was home...I was right where I belonged.
