Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Demon Giant Tree
A few days later, Gu Yun arrived at Kuixing Island.
Although Kuixing Island was an island, it was quite vast, spanning thousands of miles.
Walking through Kuixing City on Kuixing Island, the streets were bustling with activity. A few rather large buildings caught his eye—places like the Hundred Pills Pavilion and the Thousand Refining Workshop.
The streets were filled with an endless stream of pedestrians, the vast majority of whom were Spiritual Martial Realm Cultivators.
As Gu Yun passed by the Spring Fairy Tower, he stole a glance at it.
Then, he turned and left without a change in expression, like a cold and aloof male cultivator.
The seductive whispers that reached his ears were nothing special, really.
’Hmph! A mere Brow Technique won’t be enough to sway my Daoist heart!’
’If I weren’t so broke, I’d definitely show you all...’
The female cultivators of the Spring Fairy Tower gave off a completely different vibe than the mortal courtesans of a common brothel.
It was like the difference between a lite edition and a top-spec flagship phone from his previous life.
Gu Yun didn’t linger in Kuixing City; his objective was very clear.
「One day later.」
Gu Yun arrived at Shitai Town.
His gaze drifted over the tranquil, peaceful scene before him, yet he knew it concealed a monstrous Magic Power and murderous intent.
According to his information, the Demon Fiend was last seen here.
Judging by the look of things, it still hadn’t left.
’Should I go in or not?’
’If I go in, I might face unknown risks.’
After hesitating for a long moment, Gu Yun finally stepped into Shitai Town.
’With the Ten Thousand Miles Space Talisman as a safety net, what is there to fear?’
At first, everything was quiet as he walked.
But as he ventured deeper, things began to feel wrong. The nearby townspeople...
...turned their heads to stare fixedly at him, as if they were looking at a delicious meal.
Their eyes were hollow and bizarre, their faces twisting into vicious grins.
Then, unable to hold back any longer, they lunged at him.
One, two, three... dozens of terrifying townspeople, all with the same strange, hollow eyes.
"Earth-Bursting Heaven-Shaking!" Gu Yun softly intoned, his expression as calm as still water as he watched the bizarre scene unfold.
The moment they came within thirty feet of him, all the transformed townspeople were blasted back by an invisible repulsive force in the air, and were immediately shattered to pieces.
’Have they been turned into Demon Servants?’
Gu Yun looked at the numerous townspeople surrounding him. Every single one had the same strange, hollow, lifeless eyes and a vicious grin.
’It seems staying here is useless.’ With that thought,
Gu Yun’s figure vanished, leaving an afterimage that slowly faded into the air.
When he reappeared,
his face was grave, his eyes fixed on a high mountain in the center of Shitai Town.
On the mountain stood a colossal tree. Countless vine-like aerial roots hung down from its canopy, wreathed in a faint black mist.
It was a horror that defied description.
’This Demon Fiend is likely beyond my ability to slay.’
If not for the Ten Thousand Miles Space Talisman that Teng Zimu had so kindly given him, he would have left immediately.
The massive, pitch-black roots of the tree were constantly growing and expanding—an absolutely terrifying sight!
「Not long after.」
Two other visitors arrived on the other side of Shitai Town.
One was a burly, middle-aged man with a full beard. He had a strong build and a commanding presence, and carried a Sword Box on his back.
A fearsome killing intent radiated from him, and his fierce brow and angry glare made it clear he was not someone to be trifled with.
The other was a middle-aged Cultivator in a white Daoist Robe, who had a refined, scholarly air about him.
The two traveled together.
Shortly after entering Shitai Town,
they encountered a hunched-over old woman with a pitiful expression blocking their path, trying to sell them some cabbages.
"Distinguished sirs, please buy something from this old woman. Be generous! I still have a grandson at home to feed!"
At the sight,
the bearded, middle-aged cultivator grinned and said,
"Alright, then I’ll be generous!"
As he spoke, the bearded man reached for a cabbage.
But the instant his hand touched it, he abruptly reversed its direction in a classic switcheroo.
His hand shot violently toward the old woman’s head.
CRACK!
The burly man’s movements were incredibly swift, his hand striking like lightning.
In that instant, a spray of fresh blood erupted.
The burly man had forcefully ripped the old woman’s head clean off!
It even came away with a section of her spine attached, yet the big man acted as if nothing had happened.
The burly man was still grinning, but his smile was utterly cold.
He held the old woman’s bloody head in one hand as he scanned his surroundings, his grin growing more and more savage!
"Anyone else want me to be generous?! Huh?!"
At the burly man’s action, the surrounding townspeople all turned their heads to look at him, their eyes cold and merciless.
Their hollow, bizarre gazes were enough to send a chill down one’s spine.
But the burly man was not the least bit afraid. He casually tossed the old woman’s head aside.
He glanced around and sneered, "Demons are demons, and humans are humans. What’s the point of this act? Show me your true forms, now!"
As the burly man spoke, the old woman’s headless corpse suddenly began to twitch, then scuttled away into the distance like a spider.
But the burly man’s reaction was extremely fast. His figure vanished in an instant,
reappearing on the back of the headless corpse. He stomped down, and the body exploded!
This time, it was truly, completely dead.
The Daoist in the white robe standing next to the burly man looked down at the blackish-red liquid that had splattered onto his clothes.
He complained, "Pang Qingyun, can’t you restrain yourself even a little? Every time we work together, my poor white Daoist Robe suffers."
As he spoke, the white-robed Daoist shook his head in exasperation.
With a slight tremor of his True Yuan, the streak of blackish-red liquid on his white Daoist Robe instantly vanished.
Hearing this, Pang Qingyun threw his head back and laughed. "Hahaha, it’s a habit, a habit! After spending over a hundred years as a Town Guardian Envoy for the Great Yan Dynasty, this explosive temper of mine is impossible to change."
"Brother Zhuge, you’ll have to be the bigger man!"
Immediately, the townspeople on the street began to transform, morphing into ferocious, terrifying humanoid monsters.
Baring their fangs and claws, they charged at the two men.
"Now that’s more like it," Pang Qingyun said. "This is much better than that pretentious act."
Seeing them approach, a longsword shot out of the Sword Box on Pang Qingyun’s back with a ZING.
"Flame Extinguishing!"
Pang Qingyun’s True Yuan surged, and the longsword burst into a roaring blaze. With a single sweep,
the flames swelled dramatically, instantly incinerating the horde of monsters!
...
Soon after, the two arrived at the high mountain, which was filled with a Demonic Qi that soared to the heavens.
They saw a giant tree wreathed in that monstrous, swirling Demonic Qi.
Innumerable roots stretched from the Demon Tree across the ground, and patterns like blood vessels were visible on its bark.
Within the immense Demonic Qi, faces seemed to flicker in and out of existence.
After this utterly bizarre Demon Giant Tree appeared on the high mountain in Shitai Town,
its innumerable branches spread wantonly in all directions, constantly emitting a black mist
that seeped into every corner of Shitai Town.
If one possessed the Heaven and Earth Dharma Eye and looked from outside the town,
they would see that all of Shitai Town was enveloped in Demonic Qi.
The aura of the Demon Fiend soared to the heavens.
This place had already transformed into a Demon Realm!
"This Demon Giant Tree is truly worthy of being a King Level Demon Fiend! Such Momentum! If it were given enough time to grow and truly reach its mature stage,"
"I fear only a Tongxuan Truth True Monarch would be able to handle it."
"What a pity that it’s only in its infant stage right now,"
Pang Qingyun remarked with a sigh.
Zhuge Wuwo replied with great solemnity,
"Even in its infant stage, a King Level Demon Fiend cannot be underestimated."
"Judging by the terrifying aura this Demon Giant Tree is emitting, it is likely one of the most formidable among King Level Demon Fiends!"
