Chapter 544: Chapter 465: Farewell and Goodbye (2-in-1)_4

Sure enough, Clark paused for a moment and spoke in his uniquely indifferent yet undeniably certain tone:

"Anger, he..."

"Is already dead."

Viola’s expression instantly froze, the habitual smile stiffening at the corner of her mouth.

Clark paused for a moment, unprecedentedly adding an explanation, although his tone remained calm:

"He was unfortunate during the last regular plane exploration war. His team encountered a hidden Seventh Level native creature in the target plane."

Concise, without describing the process, without painting a picture of tragedy, but the words "Seventh Level native creature" alone were enough to explain everything.

For Anger, who only had Second and Third Level strength, it was undoubtedly an unavoidable disaster.

Jeming suddenly fell silent.

He looked at Professor Clark’s calm profile and then at Senior Sister Viola’s eyes, where complex emotions flashed and disappeared, and for a moment, he didn’t know what to say.

Junior Brother Anger... the young Wizard who once had a brief connection with him under Professor Clark, somewhat introverted yet diligent and earnest.

He had actually... died silently in some distant plane war in which Jeming had not participated.

The wizard path has never been smooth.

Exploring the unknown, plundering resources, standing against all heavens and worlds, death is commonplace.

Jeming was already well aware of this fact.

He even personally experienced the death of a friend.

But even after so long, Jeming still couldn’t adapt as well as other Wizards.

When death truly falls upon someone he knows once more, the feeling is still somewhat... subtle.

Instead, it was Professor Clark who, after a brief silence, spoke again, his voice still steady:

"Alright, the deceased have gone; after you’ve experienced several more rounds, you’ll become accustomed. Now, focus all your attention on the war that is about to begin."

His gray eyes swept over Jeming and Viola, his tone calm yet carrying a certain force:

"I don’t wish... to be left alone after the battle ends."

Viola was the first to adjust.

She took a deep breath, and the stiff curve on her face became lively again, even more uplifted than usual.

Upon hearing Professor Clark’s words, she curled her lips, her tone carrying a hint of playful provocation:

"Oh? Old... Professor, you’re saying that... quite confidently. Are you so sure you’ll survive?"

Clark glanced at her and flicked her forehead.

Under Viola’s resentful gaze, Professor Clark’s face remained expressionless, as if stating an objective fact:

"It’s not confidence. It’s merely a reasonable inference based on existing data, strength comparison, battlefield environment, and my personal handling capabilities."

Their interaction gradually brought Jeming back to his senses.

Just now, after slightly feeling it, he realized that although his inner spiritual fluctuation was quite tumultuous, it was more an astonishment and reflection on the mere fact of "an acquaintance’s passing" rather than sorrow.

Although it might sound a bit unfeeling to say, strictly speaking, his connection with Junior Brother Anger wasn’t deep, and the feelings hadn’t reached the level of close friendship.

He turned his gaze back to the space fissure stretching across the sky in the distance, feeling the overwhelming aura of tension, determination, and killing intent emanating from countless Wizards around him.

Breathed out deeply.

The war is about to begin.

And death might descend upon anyone at the next moment.

Including himself.

"I understand, Professor," Jeming replied softly, his eyes turning sharp once again.

(That’s all for this Chapter today, a bit busy with the new year.)
