Chapter 417: The Dark Side
"Well then! It seems you’ve made your decision." Jue said, directing away from the speech he had just given.
"Now, your fate in the near future will no longer be controlled by me, even though I have this Mind Controlling Gu placed inside of you. I will allow you to roam free based on your own thoughts since you made that decision with your own choice. This is only because we won’t see each other for quite some time until you rank high enough to join my squadron." Jue began walking toward Lyrian.
He took the Dark Ore Orb and placed it inside of a storage ring. He then flicked Lyrian’s glabella once, knocking the boy’s head back slightly.
"There... now you can act freely. Just know that the Gu is still with you, however. Don’t do anything harsh." Jue said with a serious face as he faced Lyrian.
Lyrian looked back at him with a normal gaze, but inwardly mused, ’Don’t touch me, you bastard... I’ll enjoy crushing your head under my boot when the time comes.’
"But, of course, I don’t expect you to betray me, since you have willingly chosen to become a soldier of our cause." Jue’s serious expression quickly mellowed into a smile. After a second, he turned and left.
At that moment, Lyrian walked back out onto the balcony and gazed at the city once more.
’Screw this damn place.’ He thought to himself for a split second as a sheet of hair began to slowly enter his field of vision from the top.
Soon enough, the beautiful red eyes of a woman made direct contact with his.
He stumbled back a bit in slight surprise, as an upside-down woman hanging from a black rope addressed him.
She quickly jumped onto the balcony railing, and then onto the balcony itself.
Her uniform was black, but very different from the normal ones Lyrian had seen. She wore tight leather leggings and a corset as a top, pushing her voluptuous melons out for the world to see even more.
She had tall legs, towering over Lyrian as she walked over to him. Her face was gorgeous, like a supermodel, but her expression was the opposite of that.
Her eyebrows furrowed inwards in anger, and she seemed to be chewing gum or something quite aggressively.
She held a purple baton in her hand, the handle being made of leather, while the baton itself seemed to be similar to Dark Ore.
As she smacked this baton against the palm of her other hand, she spoke loudly, "Lyrian Theageld! Our newest slave, and one with some potential I heard..." She walked closer, leaning down before examining the boy.
She sniffed him behind his ear, looked him in his eyes, and then sized him up and down.
"Well... you look all right, I guess. But I think they mean strength potential in your case." She turned to face the door leading to the exit of the balcony.
"Start moving, rat!" She yelled, hitting Lyrian on the shoulder.
It wasn’t a hard hit, yet he still felt the force of the attack vibrate through his entire body.
It was as if the attack caused a wave of limpness to ripple across his body.
’Dark Ore weapons...’ Lyrian thought to himself as he complied with the woman’s orders and began walking.
’I’ll get situated first before I make any plans...’ He thought to himself, led by the explicit woman through the large estate that they were in.
They made their way out through the opposite side this time, and Lyrian’s eyes widened in shock as he saw what was there.
Despair. That was the word that came to mind when he gazed at the valley in front of him.
It was far darker than before due to some sort of black and gray dust that filled the atmosphere.
There were mines located almost everywhere, with the entire space looking like barren underground land with giant mounds and even mountains that were mined.
’Dark Ore mines?’ Lyrian mused as he was pushed further along. freeweɓnøvel.com
He walked down a dirty dark path. Just on the other side of this estate was a green land with a prosperous city, yet here, there wasn’t a single blade of grass.
Instead, the barren fields seemed to be covered in a thick gray ash.
After about an hour or so of working, Sol arrived at a camp a few miles into this side of the underground Black Petal Sect realm.
The camp consisted of a few old, dusty huts made of rusted iron sheets as homes.
There were also a few tents that were covered in black dust.
It was right next to a giant black mountain with large machines all around it that pumped out a thick gray smoke into the air.
It was like a forest of them everywhere.
Sparks of flame flew out from the entrance of the mine not far away, with the sounds of machinery filling the air.
Here, hundreds of young and old men and women looked to be slaving away.
Some carried several carriages of black dust and stone in and out of the mines.
Others used pickaxes to manually dig,
while others cleaned and did the various duties that everyone seemed to have.
Everyone was covered in sweaty black dust as if they had been working in a blacksmith’s shop nonstop for a few hundred goddamn years.
As Lyrian arrived, the lady beside him pushed him forward with her Dark Ore baton.
After he stumbled forward, she said, "Oi! All of your belongings... hand them over now." Putting her hand out in front of her.
Lyrian took his belt off, which contained some gold, some quick-use potions, and also his obsidian blade.
’I’ll get them back...’ He mused as he handed them over to the woman.
The woman looked closer at him, and then spotted his pendant, ’"Jewelry too." She said.
’Jewelry... wait, that’s right. I have my storage ring as well.’ Lyrian raised his hand behind his neck to untie the Shadow Jade Pendant.
’I’ll keep that just in case.’ He mused, slipping the ring down the back of his shirt.
He untied the pendant and handed it over.
"Hmm..." The woman squinted her eyes to look one last time.
"Stupid dark rut! I can’t see shit!" She exclaimed in frustration.
"That’s all I have lady. Stop peering at me more." Lyrian said at that moment.
"Tsk... whatever. It’s not like anything you have is going to make much of a difference anyway." She said, turning around and leaving.
’Good... at least I still have my ring if worse comes to worse. I’ll be able to heal myself fully.’
As Lyrian thought this, a large man suddenly pushed into him from behind.
He was pulling a carriage backward with the help of another guy.
"Hey! Look where you’re going brat!" The guy exclaimed, "In fact, help us carry this!"
With that, Lyrian quickly began to pull the carriage along.
His eyes looked left and right, and a slight smirk appeared on his face out of nowhere.
’I don’t know why... but I find this exhilarating. Maybe I can use this situation for my benefit, to get stronger.’
