Chapter 95: 095 | The Hidden Spine
Arpita was sitting in the café with Luna, the entire café was a place run by Nisapal agents. Arpita had chosen this place for two reasons mostly.
First, she wanted in on record among Nisapal agents that she tried her best to recruit him. Second, that even she doesn’t know his identity.
For her master, who knew StarWalker’s identity, it wouldn’t matter until Reyansh was not a threat to Nisapal and its functioning. So, she wasn’t much worried about her master.
So when StarWalker appeared suddenly on the entrance, she also sensed him but she had to play the role of recruiter rather a known friend or something close.
"You called Miss Arpita," Reyansh addressed as he stood in front of her.
"Yes, please sit," she gestured but she kept her tone a bit distant, trying to make it formal.
"StarWalker, I have an opportunity for you," she directly stated.
"And what would that opportunity be?" Reyansh spoke as he sat on sofa in front of her.
"How would you like to work for an organization?" she directly stated.
"I think I had made it pretty clear already, I will not be joining any guild or similar structure, ever," he replied.
’The environment seems serious and her behavior is also signalling that whatever this is, its important.’ Reyansh thought.
’Did you pick up something, Lyri?" he asked.
’Yeah, her cat is interesting one, she has fate eyes,’ Lyrielle remarked.
’She can’t see you, right?’ Reyansh asked.
’Nope, only those to whom I want and spirits.’
"Let me first tell you a little bit about our organization. However, you have to sign a NDA (Non-disclosure Agreement)." She sent a contract through system panel.
Reyansh didn’t reacted and read the contract carefully. The terms were simple, he couldn’t tell anyone about this meeting and its content.
Reyansh raised a brow, his used his senses to swipe the area, he could almost feel every pair of eyes on himself. freewёbnoνel.com
"And what about all the guests we have here today?" Reyansh calmly stated.
Arpita gave a tight lipped smile, "Everyone here is already under oath," she replied.
Reyansh signed the agreement.
"What now?" he asked after signing.
"Have you ever heard about the Nisapal?" Arpita spoke.
Reyansh shook his head negatively.
"The explanation will be a bit long, but bear with me. The Nisapal is an organization that existed in India before the Merge." She started explaining.
This piqued Reyansh’s interests.
"Pre-Merge, our organization was a simple non-governmental oversight which looked after Indian interests. It was formed after the brutal partition of the country."
"However, as the government became more stable, the organization became obscure with time. Though it’s reach still ran deep and had the power to influence the decision of major outcomes."
"The organization had members across all of India and even abroad, a few worked for India directly either through government or private entity." She continued.
Reyansh shifted on his sofa slightly, this was turning out to more interesting than he thought. Generally aloof Lyrielle was also focused on the explanation by Arpita.
"Now, during the Merge everything changed. The whole world was in chaos and so was India. That’s when the networks set by The Nisapal helped government gain control over situation slowly."
"We helped government in any way we can, the Nisapal’s power grew overnight. Though we still maintained over obscurity but we became more active as Hunters." She added.
"At the moment, even though government still exists but the Nisapal had become the spine which supports its existence."
"That’s the organization I work for and I am inviting you to join it." Arpita finished her explanation.
"That’s it, I thought there will be more," Reyansh remarked, "But what you told me was really interesting. You guys are ruling India since 5 years."
"And few minutes ago, I used to think that top guilds had considerable power but you guys are even above them."
"Before we discuss further, were you responsible for that absence of authorities when I was playing the game with a guildmaster?" Reyansh asked casually.
This he clearly saw few supposed customers sitting at a distant table, flinch. Like his words stirred something in them. Reyansh only smiled at this.
"Yes, a few agents in Nisapal are capable of that much authority wherever they are," she nodded her head.
"Why?" Reyansh flatly asked.
Arpita raised her brows at the question, like trying to understand the meaning behind it.
"I mean why did you use your authority to block the officials for me?" he rephrased his question.
Arpita cleared her throat before answering.
"There are multiple reasons behind that," she stated.
"I don’t know about our guests here, but I have plenty of time. I am all ears," Reyansh replied as he laid back slightly.
He sensed few legs shifting and few fists forming. His blood sense could even tell some had elevated heart rate after his remarks.
"First of all, after coming here, I had started looking into the Victory guild after I found that many of the students in school were joining that guild even after better offers from others." She spoke.
"That’s when I was able to find out about the coercion of students. I was still in the process of accumulating evidence when I got a tip from my contract beast about you." She twisted the truth slightly.
Reyansh immediately understood the reason behind her lies.
’Well, at least she is telling me, I can trust her,’ Reyansh thought
’Was that’s not how it happened?’ Lyrielle asked. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
’No, I keep forgetting, you don’t about my three days before this.’
Lyrielle only shook her head, appearing almost disappointed in Reyansh.
"And when I met you, I was almost certain that you were going to eliminate Jai. So, I used my power to give you a chance." Arpita continued.
"Though I do not condone the method you choose, which could have potentially set panic in normal citizens. But I was impressed with your efficiency and precision to subdue a S-ranker easily."
"That’s when I thought you were worth recruiting in the organization." She stated.
"Hmm...interesting, believe me I had no idea about this when I was coming to this meeting. So, I am quite intrigued by your organization capable of pulling strings from behind." Reyansh remarked.
"But Miss Arpita, if I were to ask what does your organization, The Nisapal, do? I mean what is the goal behind running this organization?" he asked.
Arpita gave a small smile again, like she was expecting this question beforehand. Reyansh also sensed few uneasy ’customers’ in the café. He could almost taste their surging blood.
’Why are they getting agitated? I am not even asking them?’ Reyansh thought. Though he partially understood, they were all here to intimidate me into joining and here I was questioning about their organization’s goal.
"The existence of the Nisapal is solely to do whatever is necessary to safeguard this country from threats, especially Post-Merge threats." Arpita stated clearly.
"Hmm...well, I like the motto behind your organization. I can say that I even support your organization. Something like this is needed in turbulent times." Reyansh responded.
"However, the most important question is what benefits would I get if I joined your organization in shadows?" He asked.
He smiled slightly after the question, he focused his senses, he was more interested in the reaction of other over his question.
And he wasn’t disappointed, before Arpita could answer, he sensed someone rising behind her.
SLAMM!
"Who the hell are you to talk about benefits? You are lucky that we aren’t hauling your ass to jail for killing a hunter in public."
"And miss Arpita, why are entertaining his..." he stopped before he could rant further as thick presence covered the entire café. Arpita’s face was that of controlled fury.
’Now, this should be fun,’ Reyansh thought while Lyrielle folded her hands like she was ready to watch something interesting.
