Chapter 7: Walking Through The Darkness

[KATYA]

"Go back to being happy?" Katya breathed like the words were foreign to his ears.

Honestly, happiness, at this point, was foreign.

"Of course. You. Me. And our childless marriage," Yaroslav added casually, his words tearing through the room sharply, and Katya felt his chest tighten.

Of course, he should have expected this.

There had never been a divorce in the Gamov household. Never a scandal this huge. It was bound to rip through the media and the company if it came out. But the fact that Yaroslav was here, unapologetic for what he had done.

The way things had turned out made Katya’s stomach churn in disgust.

"Yaro..." Katya trailed off, unsure of what to say.

The words were caught in his throat as the grief of losing their child caught up to him fast. And soon the monitors began beeping fast again. Katya just stared, his heart rate going over the roof.

He had a lot of things to say, but he was angry.

Disappointed. Lost.

"No need to be dramatic. Besides, that way your father gets to stay rich, and you’ll be a good little housewife, sorry house husband, staring at the dishes and getting all pretty for the dinners.

"You won’t even have to work," Yaroslav added, staring right into Katya’s teary eyes.

He didn’t seem to care that the omega was in distress and that he could smell it. It didn’t matter to him, and slowly Katya blinked, trying to get room to breathe, but Yaroslav couldn’t give it.

He stayed there, hovering over him, like a predator who had finally locked on his prey.

"I don’t..." Katya began.

He knew it probably would never change the way that Yaroslav saw him, but what else was he supposed to do?

He had caught his husband cheating, and this was the price for it all. His mental health. His failing body. The stress. The anxiety.

And his husband, who didn’t give a shit what he was thinking now.

"If word about me cheating gets out there, on any tabloid, the consequences will be bad for everyone. Including your mother, who needs an expensive heart surgery. No one will want to pay for surgery for the woman whose son is a whore," Yaroslav breathed.

Whore.

His husband had called him that.

Katya stiffened even more, his tears spilling down to his temple.

He was scared of Yaroslav.

He had never been before.

But right now, this man hovering over him...

This man scared the hell out of him.

"You’re the one... You cheated," Katya forced out, pushing Yaroslav away.

But he was too weak to make him move. Too tired to exert himself for more than five seconds. It was the curse of the sedatives he had been doped up on, not to mention the pain meds.

"I know. But the world doesn’t. You’re an omega, honey. A beautiful one with too many problems right now. I’ll just say you cheated on me so you could fund your father’s company.

"That you didn’t trust me enough to let me help you. I’ll go out there and wipe my tears in front of everyone. Show them how much it hurt me to walk in on you being fucked by another person.

"I’ll cry real tears over a fake reality. Everyone will believe me," Yaroslav said as he played with Katya’s hair gently.

Anyone who walked in at the moment could only ever see a husband doting on his hurting husband. Could only see a desperate husband wishing his omega a quick recovery so they could go home.

It was a beautiful sight from a distance.

Heartwarming even.

Yet Katya had to hold it all down. Keep himself steady as his husband ripped his already shattered heart to pieces without caring what this would mean for both of them.

"No... You ... You can’t," Katya whimpered in defeat.

His eyes were already swollen from crying too much before and sleeping too long.

He was crying again.

Because of the same man.

Because of the man who broke his promise and didn’t even seem bothered.

"They will believe me. I’m Yaroslav Gamov. I have the money; you don’t. My influence could tear you and your family down. Your dearest mother will probably be dead by the time the first article comes out.

"Your father will hate you for not being faithful and costing him his mate. Then you will be left completely and utterly alone. No man will want you. Anyone who will still want you even then will only want a piece of what Yaroslav Gamov had.

"... Not because they will love you. No one wants an omega who can’t bear children. So, think about it, honey. I’m doing this for your own good, hmm?" Yaroslav said smoothly.

Somewhere in between the beta’s rant of power and everything else, Katya had forgotten how to breathe. How to function properly. His body was tightening, his stomach clenching.

His entire body began to hurt again. freēwēbnovel.com

His head was spinning so fast, and his eyes had gotten too blurry.

He was shutting down, and Yaroslav was watching with amusement clear in his eyes. Like this was the one thing he knew would shatter Katya the most.

He had no mercy on the omega, kept ranting even after Katya’s eyes closed involuntarily, even after the beeping got so loud that footsteps could be heard coming in their direction.

Yaroslav didn’t stop, only leaning his head against Katya’s in what could be seen as a loving gesture, holding Katya’s hands as he pressed the button to call for the nurses.

"If you die, Milan and I will get married. She will give me beautiful children. So, die. But if you don’t, I’ll continue sleeping with her," Yaroslav said sinisterly.

Katya’s eyes opened weakly to stare into the eyes that were so close. The eyes that had always held love and warmth for him. Now there was nothing in them.

Just resentment.

And Katya wondered how long this had built up.

"You’re awake. Good. Because you managed to get the nurses heading in this direction, and I don’t want them to think I did whatever the fuck is happening to you. You will be a good husband.

"Say nothing. Do nothing. And most importantly, you will kiss me. You must. Kiss me, before I change my mind," Yaroslav commanded like Katya was his subordinate.

Katya, too weak to even move, still struggled to push him away one more time.

"You’ll never win against me, honey. Never," Yaroslav said, slamming his lips forcefully against Katya’s. He didn’t care that the monitors were going off. Or even that Katya had given in to the darkness and fallen unconscious again.

He didn’t stop. freewebnovel.cσ๓

Not even when the doors opened.

Not when the nurses rushed in.

He didn’t see who had walked in with the nurses. Just assumed it was another doctor whose silence he could buy. Wasn’t that hard anyway. He was Yaroslav Gamov after all, right?

But could he really?

Well, he would have to think about that later, because the next thing he saw after the nurses was darkness, as the sound of his bones crushing against the concrete wall.

"You shouldn’t have touched him," a voice said.

And then...

A dark chuckle followed.

Sergei Moskowsky.
