Chapter 91: 91-Tears in his eyes

"Bear with it for a little while," Ssoren coarsed. His heart was beating faster than usual in panic. Had his brother been okay, the land they stood on would’ve collapsed under their feet from his scream.

But as expected, the black energy was altering his body to the point that Sseraphis was mentally and subconsciously forgetting himself. It wasn’t that he couldn’t break the land with a scream, but his voice didn’t sound like his own and hence had no effect on the world except for starting birds and wild animals.

"When I get my hands on who did this to you. I will beat them up," he said.

Sseraphis could barely hear him. The snake-like energy was moving back and forth on his forehead, and it hurt. His body started burning up from that movement, and the block in his head cracked up.

"Our golden bond had helped you heal and move on from the tri-soul bond," he heard Hadrian’s voice and saw a memory of the two of them living together and he looked happy but instantly, another memory snapper into his brain.

It was raining heavily in the streets, and he stood at the balcony of a room, staring out at the rain. Behind him, an older beast with fox ears and mismatched eyes of crimson and gold appeared. He walked over and stretched out his hand to touch the rain. "It’s cold," the fox smiled then looked at him, "Don’t you like cold. Want to give it a try."

Sseraphis shool his head, a clear refusal. He was warm and comfortable. He didn’t wish to get even an inch of himself wet.

"It will be fun. Give it a try, little truth."

His eyes softened as he stared at the fox, "Why do you call me that?"

"Huh?"

"Aelthie calls me venom, and it makes sense since I am made of venom, but why do you call me little truth?" fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

The fox smiled, brought his hand close to his face, and gently caressed his cheek. The cold fingers that had been touching the rain felt chilling on his skin, and it made Sseraphis want to lean in close and enjoy the feeling even more.

"Why else?" The fox shrugged. "You are younger than me, and you are the most truthful beast I have ever met."

Sseraphis tensed at that reason. "I lie. Every beast does and me especially," he said. "I am not as truthful as you’d like to be..."

The fox cupped his cheeks and brought his face so close that their foreheads were touching. Mismatched eyes met violet-black eyes, and the intensity of that gaze moved Sseraphis’ heart.

He took a step back to create distance between them. Sensing his retreat, the fox placed his hand on his waist and pulled him back. Only inches away, their breaths mixed, and the warmth waded off the cold of the rainy night.

"You are truthful to me and Aeltharion. You have never lied to us, and I don’t think you ever will," he let put, his tone full of confidence. "You wear your heart on your sleeve and treat us with sincerity I have never experienced from any beast. And I love that about you."

Sseraphis paused. His body frozen in place with the sweet words the fox whispered to him. They were descriptions he never thought he’d hear anyone use about him.

"Calling you little truth is my way of acknowledging the effort you put in to always give the best to me... and it’s also a reminder for me to return your sincerity in kind," he added.

Sseraphis felt the ground disappearing from his feet, and he was floating away. The warmth from Nytherael was one that he had forgotten and hadn’t received from the world since his mother abandoned him, and his father followed her.

Just when he thought he might disappear into the clouds, a pair of hands circled him from the back, and a huge frame appeared there, holding both him and the fox.

"What are we whispering about?"

He looked up and met the perfect shade of golden eyes staring down at him, and they felt even warmer than the fox’s eyes. His body was nig enough to hold his frame in a way that gave Sseraphis security and assurance that he didn’t have to carry the weight of life alone, he cam let it go and the dragon would carry it for him without being asked.

Sseraphis found himself leaning back into the muscles brushing up against his back. He inhaled the sweet scent of gold radiating from the dragon, and when it filled it lungs, he felt breathed out and closed his eyes. Enjoying being sandwiched by the fox and the dragon.

"I was just telling Ssese the reason I call him little truth," Nytherael said, smiling so brightly his whitened teeth glistened. "Do you want to know?"

"I heard it."

Sseraphis opened his eyes. "If you heard, then, why did you ask?"

"I just felt like asking."

"I have realized that you do have a lot of feelings," Nytherael pointed out. "It’s always your answer for most of your actions."

Aeltharion smiled. He stared out at the pouring rain and spoke, "It’s cold out here. Let’s get inside."

He ushered them towards the room, but Nytherael held his hand and halted him. Nytherael stared out at the rain, his smile widening. "Not so fast," he said and made a run for the edge of the balcony.

Aeltharion and Sseraphis shared a glance with each other before going back to watching him.

Nytherael reached the edge, and without hesitation, he jumped out in the twirling motion. His silver hair and his robes swayed in the air before getting damp, the twirling, dancing motion he did in the air before landing on the ground caught the dragon and snake’s gaze, they couldn’t look away.

Hahaha! Nytherael chuckled heartily before breaking into a full dance in the rain. His feet got muddy, but he didn’t mind. He jumped on puddles and continued enjoying himself under the falling rain.

"He is crazy," Sseraphis said.

Aeltharion nodded. "He definitely is," he agreed.

"I’m going inside," Sseraphis let out and turned around but after just one step, he was seized at the waist by strong muscular hands and lifted in the air before the male holding him jumped out into the rain.

"Arghh!" He screamed and kicked, but the dragon didn’t give in. "I didn’t want to get wet. Look at what you’ve done!" He scolded Aeltharion. He was soaking from head to toe, and when he spoke, venomous cold air came out of his ink stained lips.

"We are in this marriage together, venom," Aeltharion brushed away the hairs clinging to his face. "If one of us goes crazy then, it the duty of the remaining two to join in on the crazy."

"What kind of logic is that?"

"The logic of our vow. In sickness and in health, through heaven or hell, through happiness and sorrows..."

"And for better or worse," Nytherael added before taking Sseraphis’ hand and dancing together in the rain.

"You both are insane!" Sseraphis claimed.

"Just dance, dear," Aeltharion joined them.

"To what music?" He asked.

"The music of love," Nytherael and Aeltharion sang. "Can’t you hear it. It’s in the air!"

Sseraphis listener but didn’t hear anything. However, he joined in and started moving to their pace. Even though there was no music and he hated being drenched in the rain, he loved rhe warmth of the two crazy beasts, for them, he was willing to set aside his feelings and have some fun.

The memory ended. Sseraphis’ eyes moistened. Unlike the memory with Hadrian, where he looks happy, the memory with Aeltharion and Nytherael, he not only looked happy but felt happy too. So happy that it put tears in his eyes.

"Are they my husbands?"
