Chapter 1062: Fooled - The Rage of Darth’s Force!
Darth Kars had to move.
Not because he feared getting injured from the three attacks that had brought the Forest Vault closest to destruction.
But because he couldn’t let the girl go.
Not after she had stepped onto the impossibility, having a Tailed Beast and two B-Grade Pokemon, while still on the 3rd Set herself!
If she had run away right after seeing the second or third wave, then, perhaps...
Perhaps, then, he wouldn’t have minded continuing lying longer, letting her go.
Now, not only was she running away after decimating his largest Beast Wave, which no 3rd Set Contestant had survived so far, but she was also returning with massive gains.
How could he let that happen?
Moreover...
Darth Kars looked at the blinding flashes of light where the three attacks had converged before striking the earth.
A crater, at least a mile wide, had appeared there, bolts of lightning snaking up.
Cracks had covered the Forest Vault’s sky, clouds of fiery ash rumbling everywhere, hiding the blueness behind them.
Ruined.
Scenery? Ruined.
Comfort? Ruined.
And if those things were ruined, then why mustn’t he ruin everything else?
Streams of flesh seeped out from the earth as if someone had squeezed a wet piece of cloth, forcing the liquid out.
It rushed toward Darth Kars’ limbless, seemingly mutilated body.
Then, in a matter of seconds, he was whole again.
With a thought, Darth Kars’s titanic figure condensed, taking the form of a 10-foot-tall dark humanoid, making him look more like Berserker from Fate Bubble.
There was a cloth wrapped around his waist, looking like the ancient skin of some primal beast. Around his wrists, there were gauntlets made of bones, as if he had punched out some animals’ skulls from behind, his hands going through the fanged mouths. Other than that, the only striking things about him were his long, wild hair... and his dark red pupils, surrounded by black sclera.
Darth Kars’ dark bronze skin pulsated with a blackish tinge as he breathed the ashy air.
His head turned, his gaze fixing on the girl who had ruined everything.
Then, he disappeared, leaving behind not even a tremor.
...
Meg was making a beeline toward the Forest Vault’s doors.
Now that the rush of battle had drained out of her, she had begun feeling the eerie heaviness of her senses again. Despite that, she could still see the massive arched doors right in front of her, only a few hundred meters away.
She didn’t have the greatest of Agility, but, for such a small distance, it was more than enough. freёwebnoѵel.com
Also, no matter how powerful the 12th Floor Contestant was, he was still sealed to the level of an 11th Floor one, right?
After summoning so many mutated beasts, millions in number, Meg refused to believe that he wouldn’t have emptied his reserves.
Not to mention, the combined attack of Matatabi, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr had been no joke, either.
Meg had no clue just how powerful it was, being an 8th Floor Contestant.
However, she had a feeling that not even an 11th-floor contestant, especially with depleted reserves, would come out unscathed from that attack.
That should buy her a few seconds, Meg believed.
A few seconds was all she needed to leave this cursed place, which seemed to have blessed her with stupendous gains.
Then, still eying the Vault’s arched doors, she died.
...
Darth Kars frowned.
He had barely touched her, and the woman ceased to exist.
That was something he had expected, but he had also expected to see blood.
Now, as he stood a few hundred meters away from the Forest Vault’s doors, with his back facing them, he eyed the bits of paper slowly falling on the earth, piling up on the land into a heap.
He was fooled?!
He... Darth Kars... was fooled?!
The 12th Floor Contestant stood over the heap of shredded paper, blinking at the impossible sight and conclusion.
Then, frame by frame, he looked over his shoulder.
Only a few steps away from the Vault’s doors, a figure squirmed out of the earth.
Time seemed to pause as this figure’s hand shot forward to open the doors, its speed surpassing that of the previously displayed agility, normal to a 3rd Set Contestant with Stats leaning toward Correspondence and Breath, by miles.
This figure still looked similar to the girl donning Akatsuki robes, but she also possessed a striking detail, quite distinct from the girl who had been killed.
This woman’s skin was pale white. Her eyes were almost similar to Darth Kars’ own, her pupils carrying an evil, purple hue, instead of his bloody red. Not only that, her entire body was covered in sealing marks, all glowing black and red.
Darth Kars, as if hung freely between fractions of a second, brought his gaze back and looked at the bits of paper.
He squinted at them, now noticing the same sealing marks, extremely tiny, perhaps not even nanometers large, labeled on all... ALL bits of paper.
And that observation brought anger on Darth Kars’ face.
Yes.
He was fooled.
But the fooling had not happened now, but from the very start.
The girl he had killed had thought herself to be the real one, it seemed.
While the real Contestant had hidden herself near the Forest Vault’s doors all this while, truly becoming lifeless, sending her consciousness to the... Origami.
A Master Ability... Darth Kars realized instantly. Almost an Elite. How broken...
Behind him, crawling within the fractions of seconds, the real Contestant’s left hand reached for the door, her right hand holding a strange, cursed seed, the size of her thumb.
The Horcrux!
Darth Kars had never cared about that.
But he did care about the woman leaving this place with a tale to tell — a tale claiming how she had fooled him.
Him...
Darth Kars!
The demonically-buffed Contestant’s hand landed on the door, the tips of her fingers opening it up by a mere inch.
Then, the entire world squeezed, solidifying the very space.
The stormy wind halted.
Particles of ash and dust hung wherever they were.
Even fire, littered across almost the entire Forest Vault, couldn’t move.
And, letting his monstrous rage fuel the Force, Darth Kars turned around...
... a lightsaber appearing in his hand — fuming bloody red!
