Chapter 84: Invitation

"All right, this was an awesome guy too."

Everyone else felt like they were about to lose their minds. Whether it was Darius or James, where had they gotten such confidence to dare create such a commotion?

"Headmaster, please apprehend Darius and hand him over to me to be dealt with!" James said to William.

Though his words were polite, it sounded as if he were ordering William Brown to comply with his request.

To make a request of a Celestial Human Realm expert, and someone who held the revered position of Headmaster of Dragon City Academy?

The others were all in disbelief. Though James had offended the Eldest Prince previously, the latter was still only in the Acupoint Qi Realm. In this world, where cultivation strength determined status, the Eldest Prince was far from being able to compare with William.

William’s status was second only to the current ruler of Dragon City and allowed him to stand on equal footing with the top low-tier guilds of the region.

Commanding William?

The others could not help but break out in cold sweat.

"Headmaster!" the Eldest Prince interrupted, looking at William Brown.

William sighed and said, "Please do not interfere in this matter, Your Highness."

What!

When they heard those words, did that mean William Brown was going to comply with James’s request?

At that moment, even Darius held his breath.

’Did I underestimate the power of guilds? How can Wolf Fang possess such authority that even the Headmaster of Dragon City Academy is willing to yield to their demands?’

Darius truly felt as though he had kicked an iron plate. His confidence had rested on the support of the alchemist, but he had never expected the latter not to appear, nor that the Headmaster of Dragon City would seem powerless against Wolf Fang.

’Have I made a mistake?’ frёewebnoѵēl.com

Darius smiled bitterly inwardly. He knew that if things proceeded this way, his life was forfeit. Even if he used every remaining year of power on his panel, he would never be able to contend against a Celestial Human Realm expert.

Just as all hope seemed to fade, an old voice suddenly sounded.

"Yo, Old Man William, if I wanted to interfere, are you planning to stop me too?"

Gabriel appeared, looking coldly at William.

’Hiss, another big shot has arrived,’ everyone thought.

"Old Man Gabriel, don’t interfere in this matter!" William waved his hand. "I do not wish to ruin our friendship of many years."

"Nonsense!" Gabriel Jones immediately rebuked.

"This brat has crippled someone, so he must be punished according to Academy regulations!" William’s attitude also became unyielding.

"Wasn’t it just a piece of trash that got crippled?" Gabriel dismissed lightly.

"Master Gabriel, please mind your words!" James interrupted, carrying a hint of threat in his tone.

"And who do you think you are to reprimand me?" Gabriel snorted.

His right hand flashed forward in a strike aimed at James. As a Celestial Human Realm expert, even this casual attack contained unbelievable power. Spiritual Energy transformed into a gigantic hand that flew toward James.

Peng!

William moved at the last moment and dispersed the force behind Gabriel’s attack.

He frowned and said, "Old Man Gabriel, are you trying to oppose me?"

"As long as you don’t touch him, I naturally have no interest in fighting you either." Gabriel took a step back.

William stared at Gabriel, and Gabriel stared right back at him. Thus, two old men whose combined ages exceeded one hundred years became locked in a glaring contest.

"Very well, Old Man Gabriel. I’ll give you face this time." William nodded.

"Headmaster!" James protested unhappily.

"Enough. Take your brother and let’s see whether his arms can still be reattached." William frowned impatiently.

James did not dare say anything further. He simply picked up Cody and followed after William Brown. Two of the four Guardians carried Cody’s severed arms, and the group departed together.

Thus, the chaotic conflict came to an end.

Gabriel gave Darius a slight nod and left directly.

There were too many people present, so he did not wish to reveal his relationship with Darius. He merely wanted everyone to know that Darius was under his protection, and that alone was enough.

If Gabriel wasn’t mistaken, Wolf Fang won’t dare to attack him in broad daylight like today, and will have to think twice when sending someone to finish the job in silence. Angering a grandmaster Alchemist was by no means something to be trifled with in this era, or else William wouldn’t give face to Gabriel as he did now.

"Brother Darius, if you do not mind, why not join me for a cup of tea?" the Eldest Prince asked with a smile.

Darius smiled and replied, "Many thanks for your assistance earlier, Your Highness. I am extremely grateful."

The two left together. As Darius passed Shen and Annie, he said, "The two of you should go to Apex Medicine Pavilion and find Harley. Just tell him that I sent you, and stay there for a while."

"Thank you, Big Brother Darius!" Shen and Annie said gratefully.

Darius nodded.

After all, the reason the two of them had been targeted by Wolf Fang Guild was because of him, so he certainly would not stand by and watch them continue to suffer. Plus, his pavilion’s reputation would take a hit if he didn’t take care of his members, in the future, who would want to become a member if he wasn’t kind and caring towards his members?!

The Eldest Prince brought Darius to a tea house and requested a private room. The middle-aged man naturally stood guard outside, leaving only Darius and the Eldest Prince seated within.

"I heard that Brother Darius is on very good terms with various alchemists, and from what I witnessed today, that certainly seems to be the case," the Eldest Prince said.

There was caution in his eyes, but also a trace of eagerness.

Darius knew very well that the Third Prince had, through his connections, attracted many previously neutral parties into his camp. Naturally, the Eldest Prince could not remain indifferent and had chosen to extend an olive branch to him as well.
