Chapter 7: Crazy Prices...System!
What first met the eyes of the woman was the simple decoration of the entire shop as she instinctively slowed down, her eyes scanning the interior.
The space wasn’t as rundown as she had expected from the outside.
It was simple...almost too simple. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
A few wooden tables were placed neatly along the sides, spaced out just enough not to feel cramped. Near the front sat a plain receptionist desk. Further inside, a single door stood slightly apart from everything else. It didn’t look special at first glance, but something about it felt... different. Subtle, yet noticeable.
At the far end of the room, a wooden board was fixed to the wall. It was mostly empty, with only a few pinned spots waiting to be filled, clearly meant for missions or requests.
The entire place gave off a strange feeling.
It wasn’t luxurious. It wasn’t busy. It wasn’t even fully set up.
And yet...
It didn’t feel like a scam either.
If anything, it felt like a place that was just... waiting to become something more.
However, at the next moment, and as Darius expected, when the woman saw the prices on the menu, her originally large eyes became even larger, and a piercing scream echoed throughout the silent alleyway.
"Oh my god! To become a member of the pavilion, you need a hundred gold coins. And a training room actually costs one spirit stone? Have you gone insane from your greed?"
Hearing her scream, Darius merely ignored it as he curled into his chair and drank his cup of coffee in one go, totally ignoring the woman’s mental breakdown as he cursed the system inwardly.
In her fit of rage, her eyes darted at the last line written on the paper hung above the receptionist’s desk before her eyes slightly narrowed.
"To issue a quest, you need ten gold coins? Anything can be issued as a quest, from killing demons to hunting down alien forces."
"Ten if the quest is merely about cleaning, which is the lowest affordable job, if it’s about hunting demons, depending on it’s strenght, the price might increase to ten spirit stones or so. It depends really..." Darius wasn’t surprised by her reactions as he added from the outside.
When the woman heard what he said, a feeling of warmth spread inside her lungs as she felt the need to vomit blood at that very moment.
Turning a blind eye to the woman who was running from one side to the other in a daze, Darius opened his panel.

...
"Hey! Have you been listening?!" The woman’s voice rose sharply as she stomped her foot. "Are you the owner of this shop that you call the Immortal Pavilion?"
The woman’s calm and cold demeanor that she showed upon arriving was long gone as she shouted angrily, her eyes locked onto Darius.
Darius calmly glanced at the woman’s pretty eyes, then lazily got up, stretching slightly before letting out a yawn.
"As you saw just now, the prices of my pavilion are like that," he said, waving a hand dismissively. "If you don’t like it, just leave. My Pavilion will never force a product upon its customers."
The woman blinked, clearly taken aback by the casual remarks of the young man. After a moment of silence and confusion, her brows furrowed slightly.
’Is this even how an owner of a shop selling such absurd products should act with his customers?’
"Listen... young man," she said, taking a deep breath as her shoulders rose and fell from the amount of anger she was suppressing. She looked at him with a hint of pity. "I’m Any, and my father is one of the big merchants around here. I’m telling you that with such prices, not even nobles who have no control over their pockets would take any of your services."
"Do you think I’m some sort of idiot?" Darius frowned slightly; he truly hated such people who argued nonstop the most. "Of course, I realise how expensive my services are, but all of it is worth it and can even be said to be cheap."
He wasn’t lying, the system services were truly felt cheap for what they can offer in reality.
Darius felt quite annoyed as he replied; he had been waiting for a customer for three days, and the first one to come was a troublesome woman who acted superior. He couldn’t help but click his tongue softly.
After hearing his response, the woman went into a fit of rage once more, her hands clenching tightly at her sides, completely contradicting her earlier calm and "sincere" words of advice.
After yelling for a couple of minutes and seeing no reaction whatsoever from Darius, Any finally stopped, her chest rising and falling as she swallowed her frustration.
’Maybe he is truthful?’ She couldn’t help but have such a thought as her gaze drifted toward the prices, then back to the calm young man before her, who leisurely took a seat behind his desk.
Recalling her experience with the door, that thought grew even stronger.
’Or maybe he is scamming me?!’ Her eyes narrowed slightly as her rage bubbled once again, but she quickly suppressed it.
Gently stroking her temples, Any took a slow breath before asking in a lower voice,
"Is this an adventurer guild inside a shop with an Immortal Pavilion as a signboard?" Even she found the scene ridiculous, but she couldn’t help asking after seeing the quest section and the board at the end of the hall.
