Chapter 130: A Narrow Escape

Chapter 130

Not too far away, dozens of luxurious black cars suddenly burst through the airport entrance at high speed.

Their annoyingly bright headlights cut through the darkness like sharp blades as they rushed directly toward the private jet.

Alex’s face turned gloomy and he said through gritted teeth.

"Crap! They’re here."

Nyx immediately opened her eyes.

"What?"

Alex pointed toward the window with a serious face now. Nyx followed his gaze and saw the approaching convoy.

The vehicles were moving recklessly like a pack of wild dogs, completely ignoring the airport regulations as they sped directly toward the runway.

Even from this far distance, she could already guess who had sent them. Lee Joon woo.

The crazy man’s persistence was honestly frightening on so many levels that it was beginning to feel borderline insane.

Even she, who usually felt indifferent toward people couldn’t help but feel deeply disturbed by how obsessed this man was.

Several attendants near the cabin window who had an inkling of what might be happening, gasped nervously while looking at the speeding cars heading their way.

At that moment the pilot’s voice suddenly echoed through the cabin speakers.

"Hold on everybody. We’re beginning takeoff."

The engines roared louder as the aircraft began to accelerate. Meanwhile, outside, the black vehicles continued charging forward. One of them even swerved around the airport security barriers without slowing down in the slightest.

The long distance between both sides began to rapidly shrink by the second.

Two hundred meters.

One hundred and fifty meters.

The lead vehicle suddenly accelerated again causing Alex to narrow his eyes.

"This sons of b*tches! They’re trying to reach the runway before we leave."

Nyx’s face remained as calm as ever as if she wasn’t bothered in the least bit that they were catching up on them, but then her hands unconsciously tightened against her armrest.

Soon the distance between them was fifty meters, then forty meters, then thirty.

At this point it was safe to say that the lead car was practically flying toward them, that is... until finally, at the last moment, the nose of the jet lifted up into the air, followed by the wheels, before the entire aircraft smoothly rose into the air.

A second later the lead car shot beneath the position where the plane at been just moments earlier. Inside the cabin, several attendants finally relaxed. One even sat down heavily against an empty seat.

The danger had finally passed. Below them the convoy quickly became smaller.

Alex could even make out as the lead car stopped and a middle-aged Korean man with a deep and mature feature came out, clenching his fist tightly until he drew blood.

Only then did Alex finally place a hand over his chest and release a long breath of relief.

"Haaa..."

Finally! They had escaped safely and would be back to America by tomorrow. Even the previous issues with the Kade were beginning to feel infinitely better than staying one more second here.

But if there was anything he regretted, it was that he didn’t have time to fully enjoy the beautiful country. Still being alive was better than any meaningless regret.

He turned to Nyx and noticed that she too had leaned back against her seat and breathed a small sigh of relief. Then she closed her eyes.

Even while resting this woman looked as beautiful as ever. The soft cabin light reflected against her pale white skin that was as smooth as the finest jade, while her luscious black hair rested neatly over her shoulders.

Considering everything they had gone through tonight, she definitely deserved the rest.

Alex turned his gaze away. Only then did the pain throughout his entire body fully return, aggressively reminding him of the severe injuries he had sustained during his less than pleasant confrontation with Annie.

He looked down at his arms and grimaced at the sight of the raw blistered skin where the flesh had been scorched down to the point that his bone was faintly visible.

The side of his chest throbbed with excruciating pain, and his naked torso was covered in soot, dirt, and angry red patches of second degree burns that made even the simple act of breathing deeply feel like a painful chore.

Looks like the adrenaline from the battle had hidden most of it. Now that things had calmed down, every single injury was making itself known.

"... Damn."

His body felt like it had gone through a meat grinder as hot as lava. Then something suddenly clicked inside his head.

The recovery water!

Earlier this night, back in the alleyway. After beating the shit out of Charles, and convincing him that he would heal him later, which he obviously didn’t. He had stored away the bottle of Body Recovery Water Incase of later.

"Right."

The thing was still inside his spatial storage space. Just as he was about to retrieve it, a cabin door opened nearby and one of Nyx’s private attendants stepped out.

The pretty woman immediately noticed Alex’s injuries and widened her eyes.

"Sir Alex!"

It looked like she hadn’t noticed it in all the commotion earlier on. She hurried over carrying a large first aid kit.

"Oh my God your badly injured."

She quickly placed the kit down.

"You need treatment immediately."

Alex smiled awkwardly while waving his hands.

"It’s fine."

The attendant looked horrified.

"Fine?"

She pointed toward the burn marks.

"Sir, your entire body looks like it was set on fire."

"Technically it was in a way."

The woman stared at him, making Alex immediately cough.

"Bad joke."

The attendant then opened the kit and said softly.

’Please sit still, this might hurt a little."

Alex gently raised a hand.

"Thank you, but that won’t be necessary."

The attendant blinked.

"Huh?"

"I’m alright."

"No you’re not, sir."

"Well, I’m tougher than I look."

She looked completely unconvinced, but Alex smiled.

"Trust me."

The attendant glanced toward Nyx. Unfortunately Nyx had already fallen asleep. After a few seconds of hesitating, the woman reluctantly closed the kit and said.

"I don’t know why you’re refusing treatment, sir. But if your condition gets worse, please call me immediately."

"I will."

She nodded. Then she picked up the medical kit and returned toward the staff section of the aircraft. The moment her figure disappeared behind the door, Alex finally relaxed.

"That was close." freewёbnoνel.com

With a thought, he focused on the hollow part of his mind and accessed his spatial storage space. A familiar bottle with intricate design instantly appeared in his palm.

The translucent liquid inside sparkled, making it look like some sort of elixir of life. Alex stared at it for a second.

Considering everything he had suffered tonight, he wasn’t planning to save it anymore. Without hesitation he twisted the cap open, then drank everything down his throat.

For one second nothing happened. Then a surge of warmth exploded across his body. The sensation was immediate. It felt as though thousands of tiny streams of energy were flowing through every muscle, tendon, and bone simultaneously.

The awful burn marks all over his body began to fade at an astonishing speed. Followed by his damaged skin regenerating, then the pain disappeared.

Even the lingering soreness throughout his body melted away. Within seconds his condition returned completely back to normal.

Ah, there was nothing better than taking a good old bottle of Body Recovery Water after sustaining life threatening injuries. Though he knew that later an intense hunger worse than anything he could imagine would come.

When that time comes he’ll just eat some food that he had long since stored in his spatial storage space.

After that, Alex casually tossed the empty bottle back into storage then leaned comfortably against his seat. Finally, for the second maybe even third time tonight he genuinely felt relaxed.

His gaze casually wondered across the cabin and eventually it landed on a familiar figure. Annie.

The unconscious assassin remained restrained near the rear section of the cabin. And several attendants under Nyx’s instructions had tied her securely with some kind of metallic rope, after boarding.

Even while unconscious, she still looked dangerous. Alex studied her briefly. That woman’s ability was on a whole another level. Just a single attack was able to cause such a large scale level of destruction. How would her ability now be if she were to be an Ascendant Realm Awakened?

Alex could just say only one word. Terrifying!

If he had been even slightly slower during that battle, he might have died. Thinking back on it now, the fight had been far closer than he initially realized.

The only reason he survived was because of his abnormal physical prowess to keep up with the Eye of Chronos, his quick thinking, some bit of luck and Nyx’s intervention if Annie had maybe gone through with a powerful suicidal attack.

Otherwise things could have ended very differently. Alex leaned back further.

Now that Annie was captured, the real question was what came next. Would the Dark Lotus attempt negotiations? Would they risk a war with their rival and launch a rescue operation. Or would Lee Joon woo secretly send even stronger people after them?

There were too many possibilities. But regardless of what happened, Annie represented valuable leverage. Someone with her level of status wouldn’t be easy for the organization to replace.

Alex glanced toward the unconscious woman again, causing his lips to slowly curl up.

Actually... There was another good reason he wanted her alive. A very important reason. Her ability. If he could somehow acquire it... The combat benefits will be enormous.

A destructive power capable of a wide range of damage. Combined with his other abilities like his physical prowess, Eyes Of Chronos and maybe even Deathfrost Bloom.

The possibilities were frightening. Alex rubbed his chin thoughtfully. The more he thought about it, the more tempting it became.

Then suddenly...

[Ding!]
