Chapter 843: Chapter 441: Strange Food Poisoning
"But if I suddenly disappear, won’t she be even more worried?" Avery Jane couldn’t think of a reason to explain to Emma White, but since they boarded the yacht together, her sudden disappearance would surely frighten Emma.
"Wait until tomorrow. It’s so late now, you’ll disturb others if you go." Joshua Hughes, of course, wouldn’t allow her to leave at that moment.
"But..." Avery retorted, feeling less confident as she tasted the delicious lobster meat. But can she just let it go? He had deceived her.
"No buts, finish eating and then come sleep." Joshua’s expression was very serious and he spoke earnestly, though it sounded awkward to her.
The plate in front of him was larger than hers, with some food different from hers. A large silver bowl on the table was filled with ice, topped with unopened oysters. She watched as Joshua picked one up, expertly using a pointed wedge to skillfully pry it open, revealing the plump oyster. She had seen this before but didn’t dare eat it.
Joshua noticed her curious look: "Do you want to try it?" He feared that her stomach wouldn’t handle it well.
Avery quickly shook her head, overwhelmed by the fishy and sweet scent. She wondered how he could eat it so enjoyably.
"What’s so good about it? It’s just raw." Avery didn’t eat raw food, yet the man in front of her seemed like a primitive person, cutting into his cooked steak that was still bloody, along with plenty of raw foods. Nonetheless, he enjoyed every bite.
"You don’t have to eat, just enjoy." Joshua gazed at Avery’s delicate face, more radiant than any flower aboard.
Avery ate every morsel on her plate, not even sparing two golden, crispy pieces of bread, and then happily picked up the candies from the table to play with their beautiful packaging that was almost too nice to consume.
A bodyguard walked up with a stern face, leaned down, and spoke quietly: "Mr. Hughes, Miss Donna has food poisoning and is now in an attempted coma state."
Joshua turned his head towards Avery, who was playing with the candy, saying: "Avery, the wind is strong at night. Go to your room and wait for me." Avery nodded, obediently walked inside, admiring the pretty candy she’d save for tomorrow since it’s too late to eat it now.
As Avery entered her room, Joshua’s expression turned colder, replacing the previous warmth: "Who were you watching?" His tone was icy and authoritative, causing the bodyguard to shiver.
"Today I stayed by Miss Donna’s door. She didn’t come out for dinner, and I thought her appetite was off, but her room’s light stayed off all afternoon till evening. Concerned, I knocked, but got a response. Uneasy, I found a way inside only to find her fainted on the floor. I’ve discreetly arranged for a doctor, who confirmed food poisoning. Yet, she hadn’t eaten since noon, and no food was found in her room. I’ve tested the water and found no issue. The doctor cleaned her stomach and is now observing further in the medical room." The bodyguard reported every detail meticulously, sparing none as Joshua’s men were carefully selected, yet a situation had arisen. Joshua’s brows furrowed; someone was seeking trouble with the Hughes Clan, or him directly. Donna was Adam Matt’s fiancée and representative in this partnership. Should anything happen to her aboard, the Hughes Clan would bear responsibility since the entire yacht had Hughes employees.
"What kind of food poisoning?" Joshua’s eyes emitted a piercing cold. No one had challenged him recently. The danger’s scent and thrill made his blood rush like a beast encountering a rival.
:"The doctor has extracted her gastric fluid for testing, results should be available tomorrow." The bodyguard cautiously answered each of Joshua’s questions.
Overlooking the distant sea, despite the darkness, the crashing waves were felt, hidden reefs and whirlpools lurking beneath indicated this journey might be interesting.
Joshua waved away the bodyguard, indicating he could leave. The bodyguard’s report excluded danger, suggesting Donna was stabilized. But who wanted her gone? Joshua sat by the table, opened another oyster, savoring its raw thrill. Top-quality oysters presented a noticeable salty seawater taste at first, then morphed into fresh fruit sweetness, and he appreciated this raw flavor without embellishment. While elegantly prying oysters, his eyes narrowed dangerously; was the storm near?

One side was boundless dark sea, turning around, the other’s house glowed with warm amber light filtering through sheer curtains, piercing his heart like nighttime silence. Joshua drank his white wine, set the glass down, and moved toward the house.
The little woman in bed was almost asleep, lazily watching him enter and pouting adorably, saying: "Remember to turn off the light." She preferred sleeping in darkness, yet this man always liked keeping lights on and then...
"Alright." He chuckled softly, switched off the lights, leaving only a faint starlight outside. Her long hair spread open, releasing a subtle floral scent, as she shifted to make space for him.
"Don’t disturb my sleep." Avery turned, watching the nighttime man undress, his toned muscles gleaming enticingly in moonlight. She didn’t want him to leave her exhausted again, now just wanted a good night’s sleep to catch tomorrow’s sunrise.
The night was deep, with alluring moon and star glow, the golden and red lights outside still illuminating his profound eyes flickering uniquely. How to safely pass tonight? They hadn’t done that for days, leaving her rested. After he’s done, she always felt as if her bones had been twisted, weak and sore, affecting her walk. She didn’t want to spend tomorrow in bed missing the splendid scenery.
"Hmmm." He softly responded, Avery, seeing his promise, turned back, hugged the pillow, rubbing her face against the soft pillow to continue sleeping...
His body’s warmth was much higher than hers, his scorching body pressed against her, warm breath spraying on her neck making her instinctively shiver slightly...
