Joshua Hughes’ lips were tightly pressed into a cold line, almost forming a straight line. He wasn’t sure if he had been entranced by her wild and vibrant charm back then, in such a tense life, where danger lurked around every corner. Her physical entanglement provided him the best relaxation, making him almost think he had feelings for her.
It wasn’t until many years later that he understood what having feelings meant. He recalled the ludicrous past of his youth, like a laughable game of love, and the seemingly captivating woman was nothing more than an ephemeral illusion of his younger days. Now he wanted to capture the heart of the young woman, to hold her exquisite and beautiful heart in his hands, loving it carefully......
"I don’t want to, you are my Joshua, the man I truly love. No other woman can take you away." Donna was visibly emotional, completely disregarding her torn clothes and the large patches of exposed skin.
They had always been drawn to each other, entangled with one another, but now, as she stood before him, he showed no trace of passion in his eyes, remaining as cold and chilling as ever.
Joshua Hughes looked at her and began to laugh, a slight bloody scent emerging in his smile.......
"Donna, say what you can, and you’d better keep what you can’t to yourself. There’s a saying in the U.S.A: You can overeat, but you can’t overtalk, something you should understand." He spoke word by word, determined not to let anything destabilize or provoke Avery Jane. Fortunately, everything was still under control, and things were moving in a positive direction. She’s bound to fall in love with him, he believed.......
Donna stared at the man before her, standing by the railing, his gaze drifting over the sea, resembling Lord Poseidon inspecting his dominion, exuding an irresistible kingly aura. His voice was low, yet it sent a chill down her spine.
He was threatening her, even though they had shared such passion before, now he was threatening her.
Her emotions were conflicted; on one hand, she was furious, feeling her past with him was worthless, while on the other, she was madly obsessed with him. These polar emotions intensified within her, driving her nearly insane.
Her jealous heart wove around her like a spider’s web, nearly making sparks of hatred fly from her eyes........
"If anyone hears what they shouldn’t and gets hurt, you’ll be the one to bear the consequences." He stopped at that, as merciless as it might be, they were once acquaintances sharing a history, which is why he refrained from being too extreme and allowed her to board today.
Donna felt chilled to the bone, knowing Joshua Hughes wasn’t one for careless jokes. Now more than ever, he commanded the clouds and rain, something she dared not provoke, though staying away from him was impossible. An icy chill enveloped everything as Joshua Hughes’ phone rang, cutting through the suffocating air.
:"Avery? Are you having fun?"
His voice was gentle, even over the phone, his lips curled in a smile of indulgence and delight. Her initiative to call pleased him greatly.
"Pretty good, I thought I’d get seasick, but I didn’t. Lunch was great too, there were many lobsters." The girl’s voice was joyful and exuberant, like a babbling brook.
"Don’t eat too much, it’s too cold, it won’t be good for you." Joshua’s chiseled face softened charmingly, the light on the sea casting an even more enchanting glow on his profile.
"Can’t eat much, the dress Emma picked is so tight, I can’t eat too much." Her soft complaints over the phone made him chuckle, a deep laugh emanating from his chest, transmitted through the airwaves to her ears.
"Have you eaten?" she asked cautiously, feeling a bit guilty for being out having fun while he was home alone.
"No." Though he felt somewhat satiated by his annoyance, Luis Hughes’ meddling truly annoyed him, causing yet another mess for him to clean up.
:"Then you should hurry and eat, it’s so late already." Avery Jane envisioned him in his office, a mountain of documents surrounding him. It made her feel for him.
"Avery, I want to eat you, very much so......." His voice lowered, carrying a hot and ambiguous undertone, flooding towards Avery Jane from across the airwaves.
In this magnificent and dreamlike sea fortress, the man’s romantic and captivating voice in her ear made her heart skip a beat, her cheeks blushing, unsure how to respond. His emotions and desires were so intense, as fervent as the noonday sun, their heat palpable even through the airwaves.
:"You hurry and eat, I won’t disturb you." Avery Jane saw Emma waving at her from a distance, and embarrassed, she hung up, running towards Emma.
Joshua Hughes listened to the beeping at the end of the call, knowing she was shy. Her one call had lifted his spirits, much like the current state of the sea.
