Chapter 829: Chapter 431: How Will You Compensate Me?

The seemingly innocent young girl who spoke next said something that nearly drove him to the brink—she actually said she wanted to go on vacation by herself.

"What did you say?" Not spending New Year with him seemed a bit too outrageous.

His face turned slightly pale, and his proud chin revealed his displeasure.

"Don’t be like that, don’t frown." Avery Jane shifted her position, snuggling into the most comfortable spot on his chest, her delicate fingers tracing lazily over his chest. "Actually, it’s all because of you."

Avery Jane nuzzled against his chest like a spoiled kitten. He always had that kind of scent that made her feel warm and safe, a faint musk that invaded her olfactory senses, making her take deep breaths in an attempt to inhale the charming scent fully.

"Explain clearly." The man, displeased, said with a stern face, his large hand caressing her flowing, silky hair.

"You’re the boss, don’t you know? Every year, outstanding employees get a travel reward. This year, I was chosen, and don’t you read the company news site? I was also voted as one of the goddesses this year, along with Emma White from our office. I’m a double winner! I heard the company spared no expense chartering a cruise for it. I’ve already promised Emma I’d go." Avery Jane added, "I don’t think I’ve ever been on a cruise. Have I?"

She couldn’t really remember anything from before.

"No, but it’s not that fun anyway." He never took part in those year-end parties and celebrations organized by his subordinates—choosing goddesses, up to twenty apparently. It was probably Luis Hughes lining up his own list of beauties.

This sort of thing wasn’t unheard of.

"But I really want to go, you know. Imagine, being on a ship with all your coworkers—sounds fun, right?" Avery Jane held Joshua’s large hand, looking at him with those clear, spring-like eyes. Joshua softened, thinking that if she wanted to go, fine, let her go. It was rare for her to be this enthusiastic.

He nodded solemnly, "You’re going away for several days, how will you make it up to me?" The warm breath hovered above, the man’s voice hoarse yet with a lazy, seductive tone, an enchanting voice like a hand plucking at a woman’s heartstrings.

Avery Jane wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him on the cheek, "Is that enough?"

"Not enough......." His breath disappeared against her lips, fervently and passionately kissing......

Though it was said to be a year-end reward, it was actually a gathering of elites from all departments of the company. Technically speaking, Avery Jane had only been at the company for about a month, so it was unlikely she would be selected as an outstanding employee. Even she was unsure why, but it was actually because Joshua had personally requested leave for her twice. Her department manager had long seen that Avery Jane wasn’t an ordinary person, someone who could have President Hughes personally ask for leave for. Therefore, such a fortunate opportunity naturally fell to her. Fortunately, there had been a major reshuffle in their department the day before Avery Jane arrived, with all the senior employees reassigned; so giving it to anyone wasn’t too much of an issue.

The enormous white yacht stood at the edge of the coast, about six stories high, as everyone excitedly boarded the deck. Hughes Clan’s employee benefits were said to be world-class, lavishly chartering a top-notch cruise ship just for a perfect holiday for a few hundred outstanding employees. Those selected were joyously overwhelmed.

Avery Jane looked at the cruise ship, resembling a city on the sea, and was astounded.

She and Emma White had read about the specs of such cruise ships and knew it was a massive vessel before coming, but seeing it for real still left them stunned. It had everything—swimming pools, a gym, a cinema, an opera house, several restaurants with different themes, and a huge shopping arcade. Whatever you wanted, it was all right there.

The ship’s broadcast system played, featuring an announcer’s voice, calm and beautiful, informing everyone of all the onboard precautions, finally stressing the top floor was off-limits, reserved for important guests wishing not to be disturbed. The accommodations were divided into six levels, with Avery Jane and her group on the third floor. This colossal vessel could accommodate nearly five thousand people, but now with only less than a thousand onboard for recreation, it almost felt empty. Avery Jane and Emma’s rooms were adjacent; after changing clothes, they were ready to head for lunch.
