Chapter 819: Chapter 425: These Things Are Better Bought by Men
Joshua Hughes shook the box in front of him, and Avery Jane simply wanted to find a hole to crawl into.
"Avery, haven’t I told you, it’s better for a man to buy this kind of thing, understand?" He finished speaking, looking at her flushed little face with a meaningful glance.
"This, this wasn’t bought by me." Avery Jane said, lowering her head, feeling utterly embarrassed. While she softly defended herself, an unusual glint flashed in Joshua Hughes’s eyes.
Her peach-like face made him remember everything from last night even more in this night scene. His mouth couldn’t help but curving upwards with an increasingly thick smile.
"Avery, I didn’t know you liked things like this." Joshua Hughes said meaningfully, Avery Jane’s clear black-and-white eyes staring at him, scarcely understanding what she was hearing.
Joshua Hughes shook the box in front of her eyes and Avery Jane faintly saw the words on it, startled, and hastily tried to snatch back that damned thing, but Joshua Hughes slipped it into his pocket: "There are several fruit flavors. Tonight, let’s test which one you truly like, hmm?"
His voice was husky and deep, like fine wine, causing Avery Jane’s heart to pound rapidly as she lowered her head even further.......
The restaurant he reserved obviously served delicious food, and the meal was very enjoyable. But in the end, the server brought two plates of fruit to them, in small crystal dishes, not much fruit—a few slices of peach, a few cherries, and a small piece of fruit-flavored pudding.
When the server respectfully tried to place it in front of Joshua Hughes, the man lazily leaned back against the chair: "All for her, she likes fruit flavor."
Drinking tea, Avery Jane almost choked on the tea, nearly burying her face in the teacup, but elicited a low laugh from the man........
----------------------------Dividing Line-----------------------------------
Not far away, a woman was observing this scene. She is now the manager of M.C Headquarters, and her annual salary is enough for her to spend in such a restaurant. Today she brought her younger brother here to widen his horizons, and also to celebrate his college graduation. But she witnessed such a scene, really quite interesting.
She should let Beckett Wright have a good look, Avery Jane wasn’t forced at all; she’s having a great time with Joshua Hughes.
Watching this scene, any little feeling of guilt Angela Scott might have had completely vanished. Avery Jane should actually thank her; look at how well she’s living now, even a regular looking shirt is worth a fortune. Therefore, everything should be in its rightful place, she accompanying Joshua Hughes, while Beckett Wright should be hers.
"Is that person someone I know? Why is she staring at me?" Avery Jane asked softly, as Joshua Hughes turned around to take a look.
A chilling and extremely gloomy look, filled with warning, caused those who met his gaze to shiver. Angela Scott immediately lowered her head, cutting her steak, as if something was amiss; Avery Jane seemed not to recognize her. As for Joshua Hughes, his look was so worried and impatiently fierce, something was definitely off, but it was hard to pinpoint exactly what.
"It’s nothing, maybe she thinks you’re too pretty." Joshua Hughes turned back, saying breezily. "Are the fruits tasty?" She was eating peach slices with a small silver fork, and his words seemed to carry a double meaning, which made Avery Jane frustratedly put down the fork and look at him. What exactly did this man mean?
"Not eating anymore, shall we go home and try another flavor, alright?" Joshua Hughes said quietly.
Back home, Avery Jane quickly fled to her room, rushed into the bathroom, and closed the door. Nowadays, every day seemed new and fresh to her, absorbing new things. What she heard in the office didn’t bother her. Instead, she wanted to believe in him, because this era was filled with rumors, and lies permeated people’s living spaces. Now she just wanted to believe in this man, because besides him, it seemed there was no one else.
The white silk nightgown draped on her body, with an oversized robe loosely worn on top, her long black hair loose, she ran out barefoot like a little fairy after showering, her hair seemingly still moist. Joshua Hughes was sitting in the living room watching TV, and upon seeing her, smiled and beckoned her over. Avery Jane walked over and sat beside him.
"Why did you leave without waiting for me today? In the future, even if you want to leave, at least call me first, understand?" He said, picking up her tender little hand and gently biting it, as if punishing her. Right now, the most important thing was to keep track of her whereabouts.
"Emma White broke up with her boyfriend, feeling down, so she invited me to go shopping." Avery Jane retracted her hand from the pain. Was this man part dog? Why does he love to bite people so much?
"Didn’t you say it was bought by her? She just broke up with her boyfriend and bought this, Avery Jane, can I suspect you’re lying?" Joshua Hughes laughed lowly, playfully looking at her.
"It really wasn’t mine." Avery Jane practically wanted to bang her head against the wall, utterly dying of embarrassment, how could this happen?
"Even if it was yours, it wouldn’t matter." Joshua Hughes bent down, whispering in her ear.
"It’s not me; Emma said she wanted to go hunting tonight, really not mine." Avery Jane inwardly cried out. Was she really that sexually deprived? Probably not.
"Call me Joshua." He ordered quietly, feeling fantastic. He genuinely seemed to have a home now, warm and inviting, with a beautiful and kind wife, sitting on the couch watching TV together. He always thought this kind of simple happiness was far from him, not something he wanted, yet when it arrived, it became more cherished than ever.
