Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Eldritch Spirits

The whole gun blazed with a blinding holy light.

The two dog-shaped Mist Phantoms whined once. In a flash, they broke into glowing specks and scattered. The threat was gone.

Seeing this, the girls finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Only now did they realize what had just saved them was Kevin’s "Lance of Longinus".

Kevin had seen the danger and immediately threw the Lance of Longinus in his hand like a javelin.

As expected, the "Lance of Longinus" was the perfect counter to all Eldritch Entities.

Even against spirit-type Eldritch Entities, normal physical attacks might not work. But the Lance of Longinus could still purify them completely.

But now that he had let go of it, Kevin had no weapon left that could actually hurt an Eldritch Entity.

Nova had been watching every move Kevin made. She darted to the window first and shouted, "Watch out!"

At her shout, Kevin turned around on instinct. Only then did he see that four more Eldritch Mist Phantoms had just appeared behind him.

Some took the shape of wolves, one a bear, and one a snake.

Amelia also realized Kevin was in trouble.

She raised her pistol and immediately fired at the new Mist Phantoms.

But they were too far away, and one bullet was rarely enough to kill an Eldritch Mist Phantom. The monsters, made of blood mist, were smart enough to dodge their vital spots.

Amelia’s psychic bullets only hit their limbs, tails, and other non-critical areas. This did nothing to stop them from closing in on Kevin.

Watching the Eldritch Mist Phantoms surround Kevin in the center of the deck, Luna, Celula, and Monchhichi grew extremely worried.

They didn’t care if their current guns could actually hurt the monsters. They just raised their weapons and fired.

A stream of Fireball bullets rained down on the deck around Kevin like they were given away for free.

Seeing this, Kevin just raised his hand and summoned a brand new Lance of Longinus.

Right after, he swung the gun like a god of war in the firelight. Every time he thrust forward, a Mist Phantom was purified.

Seeing this, the girls at the control console finally relaxed.

Especially Nova and Stephanie, who were tied up in the corner. The way they looked at Kevin was direct and open, full of desire and passion.

Nova was just bolder. She licked her lips, turned to Luna and Amelia, and asked, "Are you Kevin’s girlfriends?"

Hearing this, Luna and Amelia exchanged a look. They both turned their wary eyes to Nova and said coldly, "What do you want?"

Seeing their reaction, Nova’s mouth quickly curled into a playful smile. "Guess you’re not. Then I won’t hold back. I’m going after him!"

Luna’s eyes widened instantly. She hadn’t expected Nova to be so direct. She quickly snapped, "Our captain won’t be seduced by a useless woman."

Amelia beside her nodded in agreement. "We haven’t even accepted you as a crew member yet. If you want to join us, you need to prove your worth first."

Stephanie beside her nodded too, speaking seriously: "I’ve got the ship’s supplies covered. Don’t even think about taking my job."

At that, Nova finally couldn’t hold back her laugh.

Her laugh was really nice.

The tense mood around them instantly softened with it.

Even the hostility in Luna and Amelia’s minds faded away.

Just then, Monchhichi, who had been watching Nova closely, suddenly shouted, "Be careful, her laugh is wrong." fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

She grabbed a bottle of Holy Spring from the table and splashed it on the girls nearby.

As soon as the Holy Spring hit their skin, the girls snapped back to reality.

They stared at Nova in fear, their faces filled with caution.

Amelia’s face went cold right away. "Did you just try to control our minds?"

Nova just grinned. "Every Survivor has a special Talent, doesn’t it?"

With that, Nova slowly walked over to the window.

Right after, a beautiful voice started to sing. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Kevin was fighting hard on the deck. But the Eldritch Mist Phantoms around him started to move slower.

Even the ones farther away seemed to forget the fight. They started wandering around without any goal.

Kevin, who was busy fighting them, just froze.

He turned his head right away, staring straight at Nova on the control deck.

Then, a shocking thought hit Kevin.

A beautiful woman in a red dress. A sweet song. Powerful mind control. It all matched one strong Survivor from his past life.

Nobody knew her real name.

People only knew that she was as beautiful as her voice.

She always wore a red dress and showed up in waters full of Eldritch Entities.

Whenever she sang, huge groups of Eldritch Entities followed her to attack everything in sight.

So, Survivors in his past life gave her a title: "Cantor".

She always worked alone and never teamed up with any Survivor groups.

Even right before Kevin died from being framed by Bella and Joseph, this "Cantor" was still out there. She was one of the top ten Survivors in the whole world.

At that thought, Kevin’s lip twitched. "Is my luck finally turning? The Eldritch outbreak only started three days ago, and I’ve already run into a legend from my old life."

With that thought, Kevin swung the Lance of Longinus even faster.

While the Mist Phantoms were under Nova’s song, Kevin rushed into them like a wolf among sheep. He kept shooting, one after another, wiping out the monsters around him.

That’s when his "Regeneration Source" artifact started to work.

The fight lasted almost an hour. Kevin stayed in close combat the whole time.

Even with three C-tier pieces of gear and stats higher than a normal human, he should have run out of energy long ago.

But thanks to the "Regeneration Source", Kevin felt full of energy. He had endless strength.

Back on the control deck, Nova was still humming softly. But her voice wasn’t as bright as before. When there were fewer Mist Phantoms around, she even took short breaks to rest.

Every time this happened, Luna and Amelia would hand Nova a bottle of Holy Spring to quench her thirst and soothe her throat. It also helped restore her mental stamina, which was almost completely drained.

Anyone could see that Nova was struggling. Her song was beautiful and controlled the minds of Eldritch Entities. But no one could handle singing nonstop for an hour without breaking down.

In the corner, Stephanie watched them coldly. Her face twisted between frustration and anger. "Damn it. Why! Why are all your Talents so strong? I can’t stand it."

Thinking that her Talent just made birth control pills, Stephanie felt completely defeated.

She knew exactly who Kevin was. If she couldn’t prove her worth, he would never even look at her.

At that thought, Stephanie felt her jealousy boil over.

She cursed silently in her head. "Just you wait. When Keston arrives, I’ll make sure you all die. Kevin belongs to me."

Another hour passed.

The thick fog around them was finally starting to thin.

The visibility, once limited to ten meters, had stretched out to thirty meters.

It was clear that as Kevin kept killing Mist Phantoms, the blood mist over the water started to fade.

But Kevin didn’t stop. He kept hunting the remaining Mist Phantoms. One shot after another, he purified their bodies.

He also used the chance to pick up the crystals left behind on the deck. These cores were made from the concentrated blood mist. Each one had a unique Rune etched into it.

Kevin collected them quickly. Within minutes, he had collected one hundred and eight.

Right then, the blood mist finally cleared. The sea returned to its original calm state.

At that moment, the girls on the control deck all let out a collective sigh of relief.

Celula threw her hands up and stretched hard. "God, it’s finally over. I really thought we were done for tonight."

Monchhichi laughed along. "I can’t even imagine how bad it would have been for us without you two."

Then Nova joined them. She grabbed a bottle of Holy Spring and downed it in one go. After a few coughs, she finally smiled. "Shouldn’t you be thanking me?"

Celula and Monchhichi exchanged a look. They both bowed seriously to thank Nova.

Luna and Amelia dropped their hesitation. Both girls reached out to Nova at the same time. "Why don’t you just join us?"

Nova didn’t hesitate. She shook their hands and smiled. "I’m in. But don’t worry, I’m not giving up on Kevin."

Luna and Amelia rolled their eyes. "We’ll see. Fair game."

Nova turned to head back to the corner. But before she could sit, Luna quickly untied her ropes. Amelia grabbed her arm and pulled her straight onto the captain’s sofa.

"You’re part of the crew now. Relax."

Nova sank into the soft sofa and patted the armrest. Then she turned to Stephanie in the other corner and smiled triumphantly. "We’re partners now. Sisters."

Stephanie saw right through the mockery. She grit her teeth and clenched her fists until they cracked.

Damn it. Keep calm. Just wait for Keston. You’ll all pay for this.
