Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Reborn

"Kevin, I just went to a party and didn’t come home with my underwear on. Are you really making a huge deal out of it?"

"Plus, I’m carrying your baby. What’s there to worry about?"

The harsh voice cut through the air, sharp with impatience and unfair blame.

Kevin’s head spun, and the world went dark for a second.

He remembered. It was just now...

No!

It was in his past life!

He had fought to the death against a King of the Eldritch in The Eldritch World. He was badly hurt, lying in the hold of the sailboat to heal. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Then, the girlfriend he loved so much, Bella, along with her "best friend" Joseph, ignored his struggles and forcibly threw his heavily injured body into the dark sea.

They called it helping everyone escape, blocking the Eldritch waves chasing them from behind.

In reality, they used him as bait to buy time so they could sail away safely.

Just before he hit the water, Kevin heard Bella leaning over the rail. Her tone was colder than he had ever heard. "Kevin, the baby isn’t yours. Thanks for taking care of it for me all this time. But you’re useless now."

Joseph put his arm around Bella’s shoulder and looked at Kevin with a sneer. "Don’t be so harsh. You’ve been called Dad by someone else’s kid for years. That’s enough for a full life!"

"No!" Freezing seawater flooded his mouth and nose. The Eldritch waves rushed in, tearing at his flesh again and again.

Kevin sank into the deep sea, drowning in sharp pain and despair. The last thing he saw was Bella snuggled in Joseph’s arms, drifting further and further away.

"I hate you so much!"

"Bella! You liar!"

"If I could start over, I’d never give you an ounce of my heart!"

Before he lost consciousness, Kevin only wanted to kill everyone who had betrayed him.

Not a single one!

But life only happens once. How could there be a second chance?

"Kevin! Are you even listening to me!" The sharp scream yanked Kevin’s thoughts straight back to the present.

He lifted his eyelids. The bright sun was so harsh he couldn’t keep them open.

The familiar living room. The familiar couch. And the familiar, pretty face in front of him.

Bella, his girlfriend, stood right in front of him with her hands on her hips. Her face was full of impatience and hurt.

"Kevin! I know you’re mad at me, but I really just went to a party last night! My underwear... I guess I drank too much and lost it somewhere!"

As she talked, her eyes suddenly turned red. Her voice started to crack. "Plus, I’m carrying your baby. How can you not trust me like this... You’re letting me down so much."

Kevin stared blankly at Bella. He knew that face too well.

A pointed chin, big eyes, a pure look. Paired with the way she bit her lower lip when she was upset, it always made him soft-hearted.

In his past life, he had been fooled by that exact look for a whole three years.

For her and the baby in her stomach, he risked his life hunting Eldritch things and gathering supplies.

All the food, fresh water, and medicine he traded for ended up in Bella and her so-called "best friends" mouths.

Especially Joseph. Bella’s "male best friend" on the boat. The two of them kept flirting and sneaking around.

Every time Kevin showed his anger, he got blamed by Bella and scolded by the others on the boat.

But every single time, Kevin held it in. Because he thought Bella was carrying his own child.

"I’m such a damn idiot," Kevin muttered.

"What was that?" Bella frowned, not catching his words.

Kevin stared at her face. A dark urge to kill swirled in his eyes.

Her innocent look was now twisted with annoyance and blame, like every mistake was his alone.

Meanwhile, her going out to fool around and not coming home were just brushed off like it was nothing.

To make it worse, she flipped the script and put him on the spot. "Do you have any idea how hard it is for me? I’m pregnant and still have to handle all that social stress, and you never once tried to understand me!"

"I just wanted to relax with my friends! And you’re acting so suspicious. Is that because you don’t even love me?"

Kevin’s hand tightened into a fist without him even realizing it.

His eyes locked onto Bella’s throat. He imagined his hands around it. Squeezing. Harder.

Bella felt a chill creep down her spine under his stare. She instinctively took a step back. "W-what are you looking at me like that for?"

Kevin took a slow, deep breath and forced the urge to kill down.

Not yet. Killing someone was a crime.

If he snapped now, he’d end up in jail for sure.

He’d wait until the Eldritch arrived. That’s when he’d get his revenge on Bella and Joseph.

"What time is it?" Kevin asked slowly. His voice was dead calm.

Bella blinked, surprised. She glanced at her phone without thinking. "May 1st, 2026. Twelve noon... why do you ask?"

"Nothing. I’m just hungry." Kevin stood up. His tone was flat.

Bella just stood there, stunned.

Was he just looking for an excuse to back down?

She let out a huge sigh of relief. A fake smile instantly spread across her face. She slid over and wrapped her arm around his. "I’ll cook for you right now! Just give me a minute. I actually learned a new recipe lately. You’re gonna love it!"

She turned and headed for the kitchen.

Kevin watched her walk away. A cold smirk curled his lips.

Cook?

Bella couldn’t cook to save her life.

The only thing she knew was calling for takeout.

Just like her "love" for him was just empty talk.

But it didn’t matter anymore. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Three days. Just three days until the Eldritch arrived.

After that, he’d make this woman regret ever being born.

Kevin sat down on the couch and started thinking fast.

He was back. And this time, he had all the knowledge from his last life.

It meant he could get ahead of the game.

Once The Eldritch World hit, everyone would awaken a power based on the closest object to them at that exact moment.

How strong that power was depended entirely on the value of the item you had with you.

Value was a broad term. It covered history, myths, emotional bonds, tech, natural properties... everything counted.

Someone woke up with a C-Tier power called Holy Ward. He had a family heirloom cross around his neck that held the faith of generations.

Another guy had a B-Tier power called Slayer’s Sigil. It came from an old family hunting rifle that had claimed too many lives.

There was even an A-Tier power called Gravity Domain. It came from a guy polishing a meteorite sample that had absorbed some strange energy.

Of course, some people had terrible luck.

When the Eldritch arrived, a couple was swimming in a pool. There was nothing around them except tap water.

In the end, they both awakened an E-Tier power called "Mimicry Form." The woman turned into a "geoduck," and the man turned into a "black abalone."

This ability was good for nothing but grossing out the Eldritch creatures and other humans.

As for Kevin, during the Eldritch’s arrival in his past life, he was fixing cars at a shop. The most valuable thing around him was an advanced precision repair machine.

Because of that, he awakened an A-Tier power called "Iron Heart."

This power let him control any mechanical item. He could even use basic ore to handcraft weapons, armor, and mechs from scratch.

That’s exactly how he survived round after round in The Eldritch World. He even became a major powerhouse, keeping the whole boat safe.

But now, Kevin was reborn!

For Kevin, an A-Tier power wasn’t strong enough!

In his past life, he had seen true geniuses.

Far in the East, a museum worker was polishing a five-thousand-year-old bronze sword when the Eldritch hit.

He instantly awakened the legendary S-Tier power "Bronze Sword Immortal." He could fly on his sword, walk on water, and with a simple wave, summon a storm of blades.

Kevin had seen it with his own eyes. Hundreds of bronze swords shot through the air like missiles, wiping out Eldritch creatures from miles away. It was insanely overpowered.

In the West, a scientist was checking equipment at the core of a nuclear power plant when it happened.

Close to the nuclear reactor, he directly awakened the S-Tier "Solar Storm." He could unleash brutal heat across a kilometer radius, melting any Eldritch creature on contact.

Later, that scientist once dove solo into the depths of the Umbral Veil. The nuclear glow around him actually pushed back a corner of the black curtain. It let humanity finally see the true faces of the terrifying Kings of the Eldritch hidden beneath it.

"If I could take something with more value into The Eldritch World..." Kevin narrowed his eyes, his mind racing.

Museum artifacts? America only had a few hundred years of history. The artifacts there probably wouldn’t be strong enough.

A nuclear reactor? A broke guy like him couldn’t even get close.

So where else was there something valuable enough?

Suddenly, Kevin had a flash of inspiration.

In this world, what was more historically significant and shrouded in myth than the Papal Throne of Saint Peter in the Vatican?

Two thousand years of history.

The faith of over a billion believers worldwide.

The witness to countless legends and miracles.

If that became his awakening catalyst, it would probably rank way past S-Tier!
