Chapter 47: Mistakes

Nico’s POV

"I’m sorry I could not be of more help. If you need my help again don’t hesitate to reach out," he said, basically sending me off and I nodded my head taking the handshake he offered.

"It’s fine. You did your best," I responded, shaking his hand before turning around to leave with Martin right behind me. Making sure the smile on my face did not fall eveb after I had turned and moved away from where he stood closer to the podium. freёwebnoѵel.com

Making my way towards the lower part of the hall as I placed my glass on the tray of one of the waiters moving through the hall without picking up another one. Instead my gaze slide towards Carmen and straight through her a cool expression on my face not surprised to see her still talking to Aran.

But unlike before when I had simply walked past them I headed straight towards them. Sliding my hands around Carmen’s waist as I watched her turn her gaze towards me with a surprised look in her eyes.

"Nico!" She softly gasped eveb as i smiled towards her completely ignoring Arab as I whispered in her ears. "Can we talk in private?" I asked her in a tone that left no space for arguements. It was either okay or I might as well pull her away with me.

"Oh!!" She whispered turning towards Aran who instantly began to speak turning his gaze to me with a smile on his face, "Mr Nico Romano," he began as I shook my head, "it’s nice to meet you but I have something urgent to attend to," I responded before he could say more.

Already leading Carmen through the crowd with my hands around her waist and towards the entrance. We left the hall and eveb then i simply grabbed her hands and gently pulled her in the direction of the main part of the hotel and towards the upper VIP floors ". The ones that were heavily soundproofed. Having sent Martin to watch Vale since he was my main mission for the evening.

"Nico! Where the hell are we going?" She asked but I didn’t respond as we entered the elevator worried that if I began to speak things would only end up much worse than I could envision it.

"Wait a while!" I muttered under my breath as the elevator tinged the moment it got to the topmost floor and we headed out with me pulling her along only for her to jerk her hand away. "I can walk by myself," she snapped and it took all I could to simmer down the anger that brewed inside of me.

I got to the room door and swiped the card over the lock pushing it open and gesturing for her to step in, not missing the anxious look in her gaze as she hesitated which only infuriated me even more before she headed in and I followed her closing the door behind me.

The room was huge with all the facilities a normal house would have, a living room a dinning a bar and the bedroom. But I had just entered when I headed to the bar taking off my jacket and hanging it on a chair without speakig.

Carmen followed and began to speak, maybe because somehow she could tell just how pissed off I was, something I thought I had done a good job of hiding.

"I met with all the people on the list you gave me," she began, "...you’re right there is something going on. They all had bogus excuses for how they met with the former share holders and became interested in buying some shares," she explained.

"I won’t be surprised if the people they bought it from had been cajoled in one form or the other," she continued as I settled on the bar stool of the bar rolling my sleeves up as I grabbed a bottle of wine and began to uncork it.

I didn’t respond and maybe that was why she continued to speak with more anxiety in her voice, "...if this is about Aran, he came up to me and said he wanted to join me as a business partner. He had an idea and I simply heard him out. It’s not a bad idea either," she added standing there in her blue dress and her purse in her hands and she looked beautiful. The dress matched the color of her eyes and her hair was tied up in a messy but formal way that looked good on her. Carmen was beautiful and smart but I was slowly realized that if I were to judge her by my own intelligence she would be found wanting.

Which was why I held my tongue cause if I spoke, it was sure to come out condescending as I went ahead and popped the wine bottle hearing it loudly pop as I scanned it for any defects whatever placing the cork on the table and grabbing two glasses.

I placed them in front of me eveb as I heard Carmen walk closer to sit on the stool opposite me with a meekness i knew she did my actually have as I poured the wine into both glasses one after the other. Passing one to her as I allowed the other to sit in front of me.

She didn’t instantly grab her cup either as she fixed her gaze on me taking in a deep sigh as she spoke again. "I’m guessing I must have done something wrong. You look pissed off," she outrightly admitted even as I smiled grabbing my wine glass and taking a long sip from it before I finally spoke. fгeewebnovёl.com

"This is my first drink of the evening, do you know why?" I asked her twirling the wine in the cup as I tasted it on my tongue and found the wine wanting. For a moment she looked confused until her eyes slowly widened and she lowered her gaze to the ground before glancing back me.

"You don’t trust the gala committee," she pointed out and I instantly shook my head realizing that if she didn’t change ther way of thinking she would get herself killed or worse Kidnapped. I desired her but there was no way I was putting myself in danger for some pussy with only one life.
