Chapter 13: When Hope Died
Walking through the air, Arya reached the point at another river side where before Ronnie and others fought with goblin monsters.
Then he looked down, hoping he would see them.
But no one was there.
Then he walked in air again, moving forward through the sky before it became too late.
It was already evening.
Slowly, night began.
But when he reached half way, he saw fire.
Because of the little darkness, he could clearly see that fire.
It was too big.
Then he remembered.
That fire was coming from his village side.
He was worried that something was wrong there.
Then he rushed there.
When he reached there from up side, he looked down.
His whole village was burning in fire.
Destroyed.
Nothing left.
Then he went down to the ground.
He still didn’t believe it.
Then he ran forward to the temple side.
When he reached there, it was destroyed, and many dead bodies were there.
Then seeing this, he still couldn’t believe it.
How could this be?
His parents were A rank adventurers.
They could handle goblin monsters.
Then he remembered his mother.
He knew about the up side mansion.
It was destroyed before, but they would be there.
When he reached there, it was still okay inside.
Then he thought they were hiding there.
He opened the door.
When he pushed the door, inside no one was there.
From back side, some walls had fallen down.
Monster had come here also.
Then he ran back to village again, calling for his mother, father, and others.
But no one was there.
Then he fell down on the ground.
He couldn’t handle that.
When he woke up, it was already morning.
The fire had stopped.
Nothing was left.
The village was gone.
Then from his eyes, tears fell down.
He was crying.
But he still had hope.
He thought they ran from here to another village side.
Then he went in that direction where another village was.
After walking for hours, he reached there.
To go there, he had to cross the big wall of stone.
It was like three floors high.
On another side of wall was the village.
Cross that was the village lord’s land.
Then another city.
The wall was like a border.
They made it to stop monsters.
But his village was abandoned by the lord of this land.
The gate was closed for them.
He knew they were not allowed there.
But after seeing monster attack his village, maybe they showed some mercy.
Maybe they opened the gate and saved them.
If he went there, they would not allow him.
And if he tried to climb walls, the guards on up side would see him.
That was why he used teleport skill.
He reached up side before they noticed him.
He teleported to the roof of the wall up side room.
Then from inside room, he heard some sound.
When he listened carefully, two guards were talking to each other about his village.
Then one guard said,
"Yesterday they asked help from us and asked to allow them entry. They really thought we were fool enough to let trash like them enter."
Then another guard said,
"They were saying monsters attacked their village."
"I think they were making excuse to enter the village."
Then the first guard said,
"We pushed them back."
"And we told them if they tried to enter, we would kill them."
Then the other guard laughed.
"They still didn’t move from there."
"So we fired mage balls at them."
"Some people got injured."
"After that they ran from there."
Then both laughed loudly.
"Who care if they die or live?"
"Trash like them deserve to die."
"That fake crying didn’t work on us."
Then Arya rushed toward the front side where Ronnie and the others had gone before.
But he was already too late.
When he reached there, he saw many orcs sitting on the ground, making fire and camping inside the ruined place. Around them, many human skeletons were scattered across the ground.
Some orcs were standing guard.
Others were sitting near the campfire, eating and talking to each other.
Then one of the orcs moved the wooden stick placed above the fire.
Arya’s body froze.
His eyes widened.
There were two human dead bodies burning above the flames.
Arya was shocked.
He could not move.
His legs suddenly lost all strength, and he fell to the ground on his knees.
It was already too late.
They were gone.
This time, Arya did not cry.
After he was born, his real parents tried to kill him and threw him from the mountain.
He survived.
Then after fighting the three-headed wolf monster, he fell into the river and lost consciousness.
If Ronnie and Hina had not saved him at that time, he would have died there and been eaten by monsters.
They did not only save him.
They adopted Arya as their child.
From that moment, his whole world changed.
For the first time, he had a family.
For the first time, he felt love.
But now...
They were gone.
Arya’s face showed no expression.
He was not angry.
He did not smile. freёwebnovel.com
He did not cry.
It was completely blank.
Then his eye color slowly changed into deep red.
At the same time, his black hair slowly turned pure white.
Something inside him had changed forever.
A dark feeling was slowly gathering deep inside him.
Hatred.
So much hatred that even Arya himself did not want to become like this.
It was growing little by little, filling every part of his body.
If it went out of control, he felt like he could destroy anything that came in his way.
Anyone.
Anything.
The air around him became heavy.
His red eyes looked cold and empty.
For a moment, he stood there without moving.
Then slowly...
A smile appeared on his face.
It was small at first.
But it slowly grew wider.
A smile that even he did not understand.
Then Arya slowly stood up.
His white hair moved lightly with the cold wind.
The expression on his face no longer belonged to the same child as before.
The Arya who once wished only for warmth was gone.
Something far darker had awakened inside him.
