Chapter 14: Blood Bullet
Seeing the old man appear, Baldric’s eyes glowed with a fiery aura. "Haha, you all are done for!" He laughed as he seemed to see the end of the three.
"Move aside!" But suddenly Max roared, and the two brothers seemed to feel a chill through their spines. Without questioning him, both brothers immediately retreated to the sides. The path to Baldric was instantly cleared.
"Die!"
And then Max’s aura seemed to explode, and the suppressed power within the tip of the finger erupted like a volcano.
"Blood Bullet."
BOOM!
That single drop of blood fired liked a cannon. The air itself exploded.
A shockwave swept across the battlefield. A thunderous roar was heard by Baldric, who was just laughing excitedly and felt his mind tingling. He instinctively used his bloodline ability, turning his entire body into an iron-like hardened body.
His strongest defence. His greatest pride, the Iron Thorn Bloodline.
Schhh!
But everything seemed meaningless as the next moment he felt emptiness in his chest. And the next second he looked; there was a hole in his chest. Behind him, the ground stretched for dozens of metres before ending in a trail of devastation.
Blood poured from the wound. Baldric remained standing for a few moments, unable to comprehend what had happened.
His expression was blank.
Confused.
Disbelieving.
His knees gave out and then his body collapsed heavily onto the ground. Even then, he wasn’t completely dead.
The strong vitality and tenacity of a bloodline awakener allowed him to cling to life for a few final moments. But he knew deep down he was going to die.
The battlefield became utterly silent. Whether it was the brothers Andrew or Mathew or the soldiers or even the old man leading the black-clad soldiers, they all were shocked.
The terrifying power and explosion made their souls tremble. They had never seen such devastating power that even the mighty bloodline of the Blackthorn family, known for their impenetrable defences, couldn’t stop.
The old man leading the black-clad soldiers – his calm expression changed instantly, as he was the only one who truly understood what that level of destructive power means. But he understood it shouldn’t be easy to use.
"Quick, don’t hesitate; catch them. He definitely cannot use such an attack anytime soon."
The soldiers immediately understood.
’Of course. If Max could freely unleash such power, he would have already escaped. There would have been no need for this desperate struggle.’
The attack had clearly come at a tremendous cost.
The nearby soldiers quickly understood that, and then they tried to stop them.
"Let’s go," said Max, looking a bit pale but with his aura not weakened quickly, to the two brothers who were shocked but quickly snapped back to reality.
Both immediately nodded.
The three rushed towards the city wall. Using their enhanced physiques, they leapt upward.
Ten metres.
Fifteen metres.
Their feet struck the stone surface. Then they pushed off again. In a few breaths, they had climbed onto the eastern wall.
Ahead of them lay freedom. Beyond the gate stretched the vast mountain ranges surrounding Black Iron City.
On the walls there were some guards, but they were mostly afraid, as their will was very weak, but still they attacked and tried to stop them. But the result remained the same.
Among the ordinary ones there were some who showed strength and speed beyond human capabilities like the guards outside the chamber of commerce but they were still defeated as they were only three or four such soldiers.
After defeating the last soldiers, they were about to jump down as Max felt danger.
"Duck!" He shouted instinctively. And the brother followed immediately.
Sccccch!
Something blurred through the air, missing by a hair’s breadth.
An arrow.
So fast it was almost invisible. The arrow sliced past them at nearly the speed of sound.
A fraction of a second slower—and all three would have died instantly. The arrow continued into the distance before striking a mountain cliff.
BOOM!
The explosion shattered stone and sent debris raining down.
"What the hell!" The three of them were sweating as they looked back at who shot the arrow.
A black-clad warrior with a large bow riding a wolf as big as a tiger was rapidly coming towards them. He was definitely a bloodline awakener, and judging by the power of that arrow... A very dangerous one.
And it seems they were already within his range as he draws his bow once again. The bowstring tightened and a deadly aura locked onto the trio.
"Quick Jump! Max and the two brothers didn’t wait anymore, as even the master archer had appeared. They needed to quickly hide in the mountain to avoid being hunted. freewёbnoνel.com
Thump!
With a single jump, they crossed the eastern gate and were finally outside the Black Iron City, but they didn’t have time or opportunity to celebrate, as this was just the beginning.
"Follow me. I know the best route through the mountains to get rid of the hounds of Blackthorn." Andrew said confidently.
Max nodded, as he knew nothing about the outside, so following Andrew was the only way. The three then sprinted towards the mountains.
Inside the Black Iron City, the checkpoints were in chaos; merchants and mercenaries from different places were talking, and naturally, everybody within the city also learned something big had happened.
Blackthorn leader Darius also heard about the commotion and knew that there definitely was a connection with Max, whom they were trying to find. According to the news, three bloodline awakeners broke through their defences and managed to leave the city.
And one among the three might be the kid Max whom they were searching for. He had to be, as from the clues it was clear he had awakened. This made him feel that the kid might be the one Miss is searching for.
His face became pale with fear; if that were the case, he could not let them go no matter what, even if he had to use all his strength and every means.
