Chapter 6: 06: Reincarnation (4)
All the blood inside his body moved at once. It did not leak out slowly. It was pulled. Blood rushed from his veins, organs, heart, and wound into Lucard’s palm. The man’s face shrank. His skin dried. His muscles collapsed inward.
"Arrrgh. What are you doing, you piece of shit?" the vice captain screamed. "I will kill..."
He could not finish the sentence.
His mouth dried. His tongue shriveled. His eyes sank into his skull. Within moments his body became like a mummy leaning against the tree.
Lucard removed his hand.
The vice captain was dead.
A surge of power moved through Lucard’s body. It was not much, but it was enough for this weak mortal vessel. His blood grew slightly stronger. His muscles tightened a little. His senses sharpened again. Then the blood level path he had created showed him the result. The words appeared only in his own mind, clear and simple.
[Name: Lucard Vardros] frёewebnoѵēl.com
[Level: 02]
[Current Rank: No Blood Circle]
[Skill: Blood Absorption (Reach Level 10 to enter the First Blood Circle, Mortal Vessel.)]
Lucard looked at the status in his mind and understood that the path had worked.
The first part of the blood level path was simple. Level 01 to Level 10 would belong to the stage before the first true rank. At Level 10, he would enter the First Blood Circle, Mortal Vessel. Level 11 to Level 20 would lead to the Second Blood Circle, Crimson Vessel. Level 21 to Level 30 would lead to the Third Blood Circle, Blood Mage Vessel. From there, every ten levels would push him into a higher Blood Circle, until he reached the Ninth Blood Circle, God Blood Vessel. After that would come the Final Divine Blood Circle, Blood God Reborn.
This path was different from the power system of this lower world.
In this world, mages used mana circles. A First Circle Mage was the lowest true mage, while a Ninth Circle Mage stood near the peak of mortal magic. Knights used aura ranks from Rank One to Rank Nine. Magic swordsmen also used Rank One to Rank Nine, but they mixed mana and aura into their swordsmanship. Nobles respected these ranks more than anything. A higher circle mage could make a lower noble family kneel. A high rank knight could change the result of a war. A Ninth Circle existence could threaten kingdoms.
Lucard did not walk any of those paths.
He had no need to do it. His path was different. His path was the path of Blood.
(Level: Explanation)
First Blood Circle, Mortal Vessel. His body would still be mostly mortal, but he could absorb weak blood, recover from minor wounds, and slowly strengthen his damaged body.
Second Blood Circle, Crimson Vessel. His blood would begin to transform, his healing would improve, his senses would sharpen, and his body could hold more absorbed power.
Third Blood Circle, Blood Mage Vessel. He would be able to absorb mage blood properly and gain spell fragments, blood shaped magic, and magical instincts.
Fourth Blood Circle, Noble Blood Vessel. That was the stage where nobles would become afraid if they knew the truth, because he could absorb noble bloodlines and take parts of inherited family traits.
Fifth Blood Circle, Royal Blood Vessel. He could absorb royal blood without breaking and begin carrying authority in his blood.
Sixth Blood Circle, Ancient Blood Vessel. He could absorb ancient monster blood, cursed blood, relic blood, and blood from forgotten races.
Seventh Blood Circle, Saint Blood Vessel. His blood would resist divine pressure, holy attacks, high curses, and advanced magic.
Eighth Blood Circle, Demi God Blood Vessel. He could absorb demi god blood and awaken fragments of his former Blood God authority.
Ninth Blood Circle, God Blood Vessel. His body would be able to hold god level blood again.
Final Divine Blood Circle, Blood God Reborn. At that stage, blood would no longer only feed him. Blood would obey him. Only then the path will open. He can go back to the Null.
Lucard looked down at the mummy like corpse of the vice captain.
"One rotten knight raised me by one level," he said quietly. "Then this world may not be completely useless."
He stood there for a moment and listened. The mansion was still burning. He didn’t hear any people shouting in the distance. Or no metal clashing sound somewhere near him.
Lucard turned his head toward the ruined white mansion of House Vardros. The old owner’s memories stirred again. But he didn’t care about them.
Lucard’s face became cold. "I am coming for you all."
He still wanted to return to Null. He still wanted to kill Nunet. He still wanted to tear apart every blood race traitor who had eaten his body. Nothing in this lower world could change that.
But this body might have unfinished attachments. He wasn’t aware of it. He only knew that he had just found a world full of blood.
He tightened his grip around the dagger then walked toward the burning mansion.
Lucard walked toward the burning mansion of House Vardros with the dagger in his hand. The white mansion that once stood with pride was now broken, blackened, and half swallowed by fire. Flames crawled across the windows, smoke rolled out from the upper floors, and broken stone towers lay across the ground like fallen bones. The smell of blood, burned wood, cooked flesh, and ash filled the air. For a mortal, it would have been a terrible smell. For Lucard, it was only information.
He crossed through the edge of the burning estate without stopping. He saw more dead bodies on the way. Some were servants who had died while running. Some were knights who had fallen with their swords still in their hands. Some were enemies wearing mixed armor, which meant they were not one proper army but hired killers. There were also mages among the dead, and their bodies had burns around their fingers and mouths. That told Lucard that they had used more mana than their weak mortal bodies could handle before dying.
