Chapter 292: The Devil And The Grim Reaper
The last thing that He Li knew was he was just standing in that dead forest while acknowledging the mysterious force to completely possess his body, yet in the next second, his surroundings abruptly changed again.
He saw himself standing inside a large old prison. The silver bars looked very ordinary yet he could feel a force that told him that that thing isn’t simple. Next, the environment inside this prison is very outdated. Just a simple darkness around without any light. The walls were almost covered in moss and dirt and it looks really abandoned.
He scanned the surroundings for a second but his gaze quickly landed on the figure in the center. Silver chains were rooted on each side and a man was seen being tied.
Yet when He Li had his eyes on him, he was completely astonished. His eyes widened in disbelief because right now, all he could see was someone who had the exact same appearance of him.
That man is wearing a large black coat with many ripped parts and stained with dried blood. He has long straight silver white hair and dark obsidian eyes. His face has smudges of dirt and blood but it could not conceal the striking appearance of him. And in contrast to He Li’s cold and majestic temperament, the man is way more detached and frigid. His eyes carried a deep chill and indifference that was engraved on his bones.
If He Li has golden merits from being a soldier, this man has the malevolent aura, clearly evil and cruel.
Seeing him, an answer subconsciously said inside his mind.
This is the ’spirit’ that grew inside him. This is the entity that has been trying to possess his body.
The devil.
Suddenly, the silence was interrupted when they sensed someone coming towards them. That presence doesn’t have the sound of footsteps but since he’s not deliberately covering his presence, they sense it all and subconsciously turn their head towards outside the prison.
It was unknown who’s coming but He Li had a premonition inside his heart. His eyes stayed glued towards the entrance as he could feel his heart beating fast in faint anticipation.
Who is coming? He had an idea.
And to his expectation, they finally saw a figure standing in front of them. The man was wearing an elegant black robe with a wide hat on his head. There is a sword on his back with the same color as ink yet it also has golden runes carved around it.
That man stood silently for a second before lifting his hat, revealing the face that has long been familiar to him.
Qin An, the grim reaper.
However, the grim reaper didn’t look at him and instead stared at the man who’s been chained. The cold air went stagnant for a few seconds when the two pairs of eyes met.
"The Judge told me that you’ll be following me." The cold voice from Qin An broke the stillness inside the prison. His words were very straight forward and indicate too that he’s just following orders anyway.
The devil didn’t answer. Qin An— or No. 444 didn’t mind at all and opened the prison bars. He went straight inside with a calm face, unbothered by the malevolent aura around the man.
"You better conceal yourself as a devil. Although you are already demoted, the external forces outside will not treat you as one. To avoid unnecessary trouble, you are not allowed to expose yourself."
His words finally made the devil react. He lazily raised his eyes with a hint of mockery on his voice. "I don’t need to avoid trouble."
His voice carries a deep chilling tone that only makes the atmosphere colder. Especially that concealing himself was like an insult for a devil like him. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"You do." But still, Qin An’s face didn’t change. "Doing troubles will only worsen your punishment."
The devil feels more unconvinced. He didn’t care about punishments.
"It can worsen your demerits. You won’t have a chance to reincarnate."
The devil snorted. "I’m not interested in reincarnation."
"You still don’t have a choice." No. 444 starts removing the chain on the devil’s wrist. "The Judge already put a restrictive curse against you. You can’t stand against your enemies anymore."
The devil’s eyes narrowed and when No. 444 finally removed the other chain, he swiftly grabbed the man and pinned him on the wall. His hands were placed around his neck, gripping it tightly.

No. 444 merely raised his eyes and met those obsidian eyes without any trace of fear. "It’s not my fault you were captured and ended in the Judge’s hands."
The devil’s lips twitch. This grim reaper is fearless and blunt. Didn’t even hesitate to put words right straight in front of him.
His eyes flash with coldness as he restrains his irritation.
"Who are you?" he asked instead.
"No. 444." The grim reaper simply introduced himself.
The devil quickly understands why. The legendary senior grim reaper who had been wandering not to slack off but to endlessly fight against dark entities. Monsters, evil spirits, demons and even devils, he didn’t hesitate.
It’s no wonder that he isn’t afraid because he has the guts and capability.
He slowly releases his hold on his neck and places a distance between them.
"Why did the Judge want me to follow you?"
No. 444 put his hat on again before answering. "I don’t know." he simply said.
"Bring me to him." He demanded.
No. 444 just nodded and started walking outside so he also didn’t hesitate and follow.
Unknown to them, a presence was just standing beside them and watched the situation unfold.
He Li has an indescribable expression on his face.
He still doesn’t understand why he’s here in this situation but he knew that he wanted to watch all the things between those two.
He’s certain that No. 444 is Qin An, this means that he’ll be seeing his life before then. But together with a man who even has the same face as him, he feels like he’s going into the direction of something that will truly change him.
Qin An saw his face but didn’t recognize him when they met back then. Did he forget? Or is he just treating him as another identity?
He has so many questions, especially those unanswered ones that had long been bugging inside his mind. But this time, he doesn’t feel agitated nor frustrated.
Because he knew that those will be resolved now.
