Chapter 41: Chapter 41 Sweet Revenge
Elara’s POV
Control panel alerts echoed through the facility, one notification after another. The unexpected good news left everyone stunned.
When my singing faded away, that electric sensation everyone had experienced vanished too.
Finnian released a soft whimper before yanking the curtain shut across his doorway. Seconds later, the young man crumpled onto his sofa. His fox ears twitched faintly as he let out a quiet hum. He gazed down at his large, bony hands and grinned.
"It’s been forever since I was human," he murmured.
"Finnian, everything alright?" Alistair shouted.
"Just peachy," Finnian chuckled softly. "I shifted back into human form."
"Holy shit, you’re actually human again!" Barrett yelled. "Figured you were some busted beast who’d never walk upright again."
Finnian raised his eyelids slowly, his voice dropping low. "General Barrett, maybe work on being less cutting and dial back the cruelty."
Finnian carried mixed blood, which made his spiritual energy unique compared to the others. Dorian dealt with the identical situation.
None of them realized Finnian and Dorian were half-brothers, sharing the same mother and the same hidden affliction.
Barrett got shut down and went quiet. But since they all shared living space, Finnian’s recovery from spiritual collapse and human transformation was incredible news.
Following Finnian’s pleasant shock, the others in their rooms celebrated silently. With my vine bracelet, they’d all regain human form eventually.
Meanwhile, I was stirring borscht when my wood ability suddenly spiked to Level 5.
Everyone understood that advancing power levels became increasingly difficult at higher tiers—but mine kept skyrocketing without pause.
Level 5 unlocked a healing ability: Photosynthesis. It let me restore energy and strength through sunlight exposure.
My Woodward and Leafbolt strikes also grew more potent.
Having a stat display really makes everything so much easier.
I couldn’t wrap my head around my recent streak of luck—positive developments kept rolling in one after another.
I suspected my power surge connected to the guys in the medical wing, so I generously used my remaining beef shank pieces for their dinner.
I had plenty of credits now, so it didn’t matter that supplies hadn’t shown up yet.
Speaking of supplies, my eyes brightened. The Blackwood men worked as Purifiers overseeing the reserve department—and all shipments passed through their hands. A scheme formed in my mind.
Thorne, you’re about to get a massive shock.
Valerion Empire officials couldn’t dismiss a public report, regardless of its validity—particularly when submitted by a female.
I played it smart. I took the spacecraft Finnian had given me, traveled to a different planet, posed as a resident, and filed an anonymous complaint. I chose the indirect route to mask my actual IP location.
The Astrogrid monitoring system was too advanced—I needed to stay cautious.
I avoided mentioning the Voidferal Feral Territory entirely. As long as the officials had functioning eyes, they’d piece together what was happening.
Predictably, immediately after I submitted the report, Thorne got suspended without compensation. Officials discovered that as reserve department chief, he’d misused his authority for years and displayed serious behavioral problems. Beyond that, he’d dared to interfere with the Voidferal Feral Territory.
Everyone understood exactly who resided there.
Thorne’s actions had only deepened the divide between the men in the sanctuary and the royal family—and that was massive trouble. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
Now that they’d received the tip, they had to discipline Thorne instantly to demonstrate the royal family’s position. Officially, he faced suspension without pay, but he’d actually been permanently expelled from the reserve department.
This decision made the Valerion Empire’s devotion to the sanctuary men crystal clear.
They also hurried to dispatch all supplies to the Voidferal Feral Territory. The men inside were living nightmares—especially that particular one...
Just considering him made their blood run cold.
——
When the verdict dropped, Thorne’s reality shattered. They called it suspension, but it really meant the empire would just exploit him for free labor.
He’d just blown a fortune in credits, and now he was suspended without income. Everything kept spiraling downward.
Then there was Beatrix. She’d never stick around with them without the newest luxury items.
Since they’d divorced Elara, Beatrix had never discussed marriage with any of them. Every time they wanted affection or intimacy, it drained their wallets of massive credit amounts.
Thorne dragged his fingers through his hair in anger.
"Who pulled this shit? If I discover who reported me, I’ll murder that son of a bitch," he snarled.
With Thorne suspended, Vance and Jasper weren’t doing much better. Fortunately, they’d been shipped to Waste-mire World, so they dodged identical punishment—but their circumstances remained awful.
They’d burned through so much money that they had to return to work immediately. So the pair, reeking of sewage, wrapped in medical tape, and stinking horribly, reluctantly shuffled back to their positions.
Everyone and everything avoided them wherever they wandered. Even the mechanical dogs kept their distance—only actual dogs seemed unbothered.
