Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Purification at Last

Elara’s POV

What a pity, honestly. Alistair’s spirit collapse level was through the roof, so he couldn’t maintain his connection for long. The moment I walked into the greenhouse, he started coughing and yanked himself back fast.

Every beastman had their own natural gift, and Alistair specialized in infiltration. His spiritual energy could slip into various starships and aircraft, though it had distance restrictions. Otherwise, he could’ve easily hacked into that little vessel Finnian had given me.

That evening, robots delivered dinner.

Without Elara around, everyone suddenly found their meals completely bland.

The first two were especially crushed. Kaelen had donned a crisp new cravat, eager to flaunt it.

Julian had just wept a fresh collection of pearls—sneaking upstairs to do it privately, maintaining his dignity—and now Elara wasn’t even showing up?

Dorian had adorned his tail with tiny bells, anticipating her response, only to have his meal brought by a machine?

Barrett had groomed his fur into a sleek style, rehearsed his stance, and that strategy crumbled instantly.

Alistair remained unbothered. He just crouched in the shadows, smirking like a maniac...

Finnian was spiraling, gazing at the pies before him and drowning in uncertainty. Had he frightened her away?

Was presenting her with a gift immediately too aggressive, too rushed?

Silas consumed his dinner while adjusting his glasses. Well. Time to reveal the tail...

But what occurred?

He revealed the tail, and no one was present to witness it.

Elara’s POV

I didn’t appear at the ward for several days. I was completely absorbed in greenhouse work.

During this period, I’d researched extensively, and the findings matched exactly what 007 had explained. I was genuinely concerned.

I even began having purification nightmares.

I never thought soil could be more poisonous than during the apocalypse. Even the vines I cultivated with my wood ability died instantly upon touching the earth. freewebnoveℓ.com

Shit.

Thank god I’d been wearing those protective rubber boots recently, or I’d be finished too.

My wood ability had reached level three. "Level three. Offensive technique: Leaf-to-Arrow." I could weaponize leaves, flower petals, even grass blades as attack mediums.

Strange. Since arriving here, my abilities displayed their own information screens. Reading the details, my expression darkened. I needed purification!

"Defensive technique: Wooden Shield." I could create a protective barrier using wood energy to enhance defense.

I need purification!!

"Healing technique: Employ wood energy to speed wound recovery."

"Passive: All Things Flourish. Bypass seasons, accelerate plant development."

Perfect. Still no purification.

Then... water ability? "Level one: Purification!!!"

Staring at the screen before me, I tilted my head back and cackled, hands planted on my hips. I’d been craving this forever, and finally—finally—the answer landed in my lap. My mistake for thinking down the wrong track.

What did my level three wood ability lacking purification matter when I had level one water ability?

But it was odd. I frowned. I recalled in my previous life, purification only appeared after reaching level seven. Why did I possess it at level one now?

Puzzled or not, I was thrilled. I snapped my fingers, pointed skyward, and cast my wood ability’s defensive shield over the greenhouse.

Maybe from surviving too long in the apocalypse, but I’d grown cautious. Even though 007 claimed this greenhouse used high-density film, I still felt uneasy. Only after my wood barrier completely enclosed the entire structure did I activate my level one purification.

Sure, the soil on these worlds was toxic and worthless for cultivation, but outside, all sorts of freaky plants were sprouting like mad. Talk about unfair—none were edible.

Purification’s effectiveness wasn’t level-dependent; you could use it immediately upon awakening. Naturally, the range was restricted. If my water ability was stronger, I could purify quicker.

I flexed my fingertips. A soft blue watery radiance flowed from my hands, then separated into countless thin strands that burrowed into the dark, moist earth.

The instant water energy activated, the high-density film previously shielded by the wood barrier immediately sent roots downward. Not that the film had awareness—my wood ability just responded automatically. Vines spread out, naturally separating the soil outside the greenhouse from the soil within.

The greenhouse spanned quite a bit of ground. I estimated it was roughly a little over an acre. When I purified the first section, I used vines to section off that clean area—a tidy, square patch still glowing with faint blue light.

"No wonder they claim abilities enhance life," I mumbled, wiping perspiration from my brow, a satisfied grin spreading across my face.

With a thought, my spatial ability kicked in.

Examining my neatly arranged seeds, I selected tomatoes first.

No particular logic. I just adored them. Delicious however you prepared them.

And it wasn’t only vegetable and fruit seeds—I even had flower seeds. I browsed through and grabbed the rose ones, too.

I’d plant those in a corner.

I’d witnessed enough bizarre alien species around here. Now I just wanted something familiar.

After caring for my first small garden, I used my wood ability to give things a push. A blend of green and blue energy swirled, and the roses developed pink buds while the tomato sprouts emerged from the soil. I wanted to continue in one go, but my stomach betrayed me with a loud, demanding rumble.
