The Mayfly Brainlord loomed right before him, its titanic body looming like a bottomless abyss of souls. Countless brain-bubbles burst, each detonation producing a blast that shook the vita.

Swarms of butterfly-head, bee-head, scorpion-head, ant-head, and locust-head people gathered around the Mayfly Brainlord, growing feverishly excited after seeing it launch its attack. Harsh, insectoid screeches blended together into an even more piercing cacophony.

And atop that, Huang Qi’s mocking blaberry made the head hurt even more.

It was unquestionably a desperate situation.

Tianming first cast a deep look at the Mayfly Brainlord, then met Zi Zhen’s gaze. Coldness flashed through her violet eyes.

“Let’s end them,” Zi Zhen said darkly.

Tianming agreed, resolve hardening in his eyes.

All the brain-bubbles across the Mayfly Brainlord’s body seemed to ignite. Its eerie yellow eyes locked onto Tianming, carrying absolute confidence.

Leaving no trace in their path, the yellow waves were clearly a form of soul power. It didn’t feel as pure as Bai Ye and Bai Ling’s power, yet it felt far more troublesome. It was the fusion of Sixth's vita and the Mayfly Brainlord.

Before the yellow waves arrived, Tianming pulled Zi Zhen tightly into his arms. The skypole stars transformed into a black-and-white barrier that wrapped around them to block the incoming assault.

Even before the waves reached them, Tianming’s soul felt suffocated. His lifebound beasts returned into the lifebound space, while Bai Ling and Bai Ye entered his brain to guard his soul.

As for Zi Zhen, she could only rely on herself.

The yellow waves finally crashed into the skypole stars. They didn’t pierce through immediately, but neither were they repelled. Instead, they clung to the barrier’s surface, painting it with rippling yellow patterns that flowed across it.

“No damage?” Zi Zhen asked as she watched the waves surrounding them.

“There’s damage,” Tianming said, his expression shifting.

Just as Huang Qi had warned, the Brainlord’s methods were highly unusual. Instead of directly destroying them, the waves slowly resonate with the skypole stars maing the barrier vibrate alarmingly. Then, a single yellow wave slipped through and wrapped around Tianming and Zi Zhen.

Bai Ye and Bai Ling barely managed to block the wave for Tianming.

But neither of them dared to brag just yet, as more yellow waves were slipping through. Tianming held out for the moment, but the first hit already left Zi Zhen’s face ashen.

“How are you holding up?” Tianming asked urgently.

In his arms, Zi Zhen suddenly transformed into her fierce specter form. Tianming nearly got skewered by the spikes while holding her.

But he had no time to complain. Zi Zhen’s condition was obviously far worse than expected. Her vita was wounded, and as her fury surged, four of her pupils turned crimson, signaling the activation of the fourth hall eye. Her rage granted her a kind of soul resistance, helping her stabilize somewhat.

Tianming exhaled a small breath of relief.

“Naive,” Huang Qi laughed lazily from within the ring. “You really think the Ephemeral Brainwaves are that easy to deal with?”

“I don’t know why you dragged that ugly thing in here,” she continued to mock. “You really underestimate the undying aeternals' abilities. That thing is useless to you. Anyone other than me is just a burden.”

Just as she was laughing, Zi Zhen opened another hall eye, pushing her soul resistance further.

Huang Qi clearly knew that the anger gave Zi Zhen strength. So she cut off her laughter and said seriously, “Right now, all I can do is hope you’ll give our relationship a chance.”

As expected, Tianming ignored her.

The Mayfly Brainlord intensified its assault by a hundredfold, and more and more of those strange waves coiled around Tianming and Zi Zhen.

Tianming still held on, but his face had grown grim.

“Ah!” A cry of pain erupted from his arms. Zi Zhen had reached her limit, her entire body convulsing violently. It was rare to see her in such agony.

Her personality was unyielding, so for her to suffer like this, her injuries had to be far worse than Tianming had imagined.

“Five is your limit? You can’t push your hall eyes further?” he asked urgently.

“I, I’m too hurt. I can’t get angrier...” Zi Zhen clutched her head, her voice hoarse and trembling.

Before she finished speaking, the Brainlord’s waves grew even more violent. The brainwaves almost bypassed through the skypole stars entirely, the soul power of its million-meter body and Sixth's vita crashing down onto Tianming and Zi Zhen.
