Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Bai Su Cleverly Defuses the Crisis
Upon hearing this, the crowd’s sympathy grew, and they became more convinced she was right. They turned to the troublemakers. "That’s right! Where’s your evidence?"
"If you ate here, you should at least have a transaction record, right?"
"Show us the transaction record. Then we’ll know if you’re telling the truth."
"Yeah, take it out! Let everyone see your proof. You said you paid for a meal here, didn’t you?"
The Crocodile Beastman flushed with anger and embarrassment. "We paid in cash, so there’s no record! You just don’t want to take responsibility, Boss!"
Bai Su scoffed. "My restaurant has never accepted cash. Didn’t you know that?"
From the very beginning, she only had a few little ones helping serve dishes. She worried they couldn’t do the math, so she set up the ordering system to be digital-only, with all transactions handled online.
’What era is this? Who still uses cash?’
The patrons finally saw what was going on. "Aha, so you’re just here to cause trouble!"
"You’ve never even eaten here, and you have the gall to start slinging mud in broad daylight!"
"If the owner wasn’t so sharp, she would’ve fallen for your trick!"
"Exactly. A more timid female might have just paid them off to get rid of them."
"Tch! You’ve got hands and feet, why don’t you get a real job instead of trying to earn this kind of dirty money!"
"It’s pathetic. You’re a disgrace to all Crocodile Beastmen!"
"Get out!"
"Yes! Get out!"
The bullet comments were also filled with a torrent of curses.
Seeing things had turned against them, the Crocodile Beastman turned to flee.
Bai Su waved to the soldier-waiters nearby. "Grab them."
Several tall and imposing Bear Beastmen had been itching for a fight. At Bai Su’s command, they immediately pounced, roughly seizing the men.
’Miss Bai Su is the great hero of our entire Bear Clan Tribe! Our savior!’
’A gift from the Beast God!’
’How dare these idiots try to stir up trouble right in front of us? If Miss Bai Su hadn’t held us back, we’d have beaten the shit out of these Crocodile Beastmen already!’
Shedding her previously gentle demeanor, Bai Su crossed her arms and looked down imperiously at the men on the ground. "If I don’t teach you a lesson today, people will start thinking I’m a pushover."
The patrons: "..."
’Of course she’s not a pushover. If they dared to cause even a little trouble, she’d close the shop, kick everyone out, and refuse to serve them.’
’How could she possibly be a pushover?’
Bai Su stepped forward and planted her foot on the face of the Beastman who had been feigning illness. Looking down at him, she said, "Weren’t you just complaining about a stomachache? Why’d you stop pretending? Hmm?"
The Crocodile Beastman under her foot tilted his head back to look up at Bai Su.
It was October. She wore a slightly form-fitting pink sweater under a slip dress. The dress’s straps crisscrossed her back and were tied in a bow.
The dress cinched just below her bust, accentuating its impressive curve and the graceful lines of her waist and hips. The skirt fell to her ankles.
Both the sweater and the dress were made of a soft, knitted material perfect for autumn. The pink sweater paired with the white dress gave her an exceptionally gentle look.
She had braided her long hair down her back, her gentle beauty infused with the ripe allure unique to a young woman.
It was a sight that would drive any Beastman wild, let alone one who, while being stepped on, happened to glimpse a flash of her slender, pale-white calf beneath the hem of her skirt.
Lying on his back, the Crocodile Beastman could only look up from below, his entire field of vision filled with Bai Su’s magnificent, surging curves.
Above those curves was a face as succulent as ripe fruit, with full, plump red lips and a look of utter disdain in her eyes, as if at any moment she might lash him with a whip and brutally train him into whatever she desired...
Seeing him staring blankly, Bai Su ground her cream-white leather shoe into his face again. "Hmm? I said, speak!"
SQUIRT! Two streams of blood suddenly erupted from his nostrils, spattering her little leather shoe.
"Tsk." Bai Su’s expression soured, and she hastily pulled her foot back.
She shot the Beastman a glare before turning to the crowd. "This has nothing to do with me. You all saw it. I only rested my foot on his face, I didn’t use any real force. There isn’t even a shoe print on him."
The crowd blinked, staring at Bai Su’s unknowingly bewitching display. They couldn’t help but think to themselves.
’This time, it really does have something to do with her.’
’That Crocodile Beastman clearly got off on being stepped on.’
Bullet Comments: [Damn it, that lucky crocodile!]
[Okay, okay, so if I go make trouble, the owner will step on my face? Is that the deal? I’m getting ready to head out right now!]
[Get out of the way, you damn crocodile! Let me get in on the action! HNNNG... HNNNG... HNNNG...]
[Leader Lu arriving on the battlefield in 3... 2... 1!]
[How dare you all! This is our great Leader’s fiancée! You got a death wish? All of you, get out of the way! I’ve got a death wish, so I’ll go first! Step on me, Boss! ME! I’m shameless! I’m not afraid of the pain!]
Her face dark, Bai Su snorted coldly and kicked the man aside. "Since you’re speechless, let’s have the police handle it. I’d like to see just who hired you to cause a scene!"
She looked at Bablo. "Take them to the Federation police department. And remember, make sure the Wolf Bureau handles the interrogation personally."
’The chief of the Wolf Bureau is a Wolf Beastman and one of Lu Tingyan’s men. He wouldn’t dare be biased.’
’She wasn’t an idiot. Her engagement to Lu Tingyan had just caused a huge stir throughout the entire Federation.’
’And Bi He, the leader of the Bear Clan’s local branch, had even publicly declared he would treat her as a guest of honor and attend to her every need.’
’Why would a common street thug dare to show up and challenge her?’
’It was obvious someone had put them up to this.’
’If she didn’t find out who was behind it, then even if she dealt with this today, there would be no guarantee it wouldn’t happen again.’
Bablo nodded and led the men away.
Bai Su then turned to the people still waiting in line. "Everyone, I’m very sorry, but you know the restaurant’s rules. Please come back another time; we won’t be serving any more food today. To our guests who are already eating, please take your time, but we won’t be taking any additional orders."
The people in line sighed, their spirits dampened. "Oh, come on, don’t do this!"
"Please, owner, make an exception!"
"I’ve been waiting in this line since morning! It was almost my turn!"
Bai Su paid them no mind and simply turned back into the kitchen.
Everyone knew the rules of her restaurant: if anyone caused a disturbance, business for the day was over. No more orders would be taken.
The guests who had to leave, disappointed, saw the Crocodile Beastmen being hauled away in the distance. They seethed with anger, wishing they could go over and land a few more kicks themselves.
The customers who were already eating cherished the food on their tables all the more. Thank goodness they had ordered early.
Bablo took the men in for questioning, which soon caught Lu Tingyan’s attention.
As suspected, they had been hired to cause trouble. The person behind it was Bi Yue.
It was hard to say if she was brainless or just brazen, but she made no effort to cover her tracks, openly hiring people to trash the place.
Lu Tingyan, of course, wasn’t going to let her get away with it. He had her stripped of her military rank and locked up for half a month on charges of premeditated provocation.
Bi Yue watched in disbelief as her military insignia was torn from her uniform, her face turning deathly pale. "You can’t do this to me! I’m the daughter of the Bear Clan Tribe’s leader! I’ve served for over a decade! How dare you?"
"I want to see my father!"
A flicker of mockery crossed Bablo’s eyes as he carried out the order. "Miss Bi Yue, the branch leader has known about this for some time. As for why he hasn’t stepped in to support you... I imagine you can guess the reason without us having to spell it out."
Bi Yue glared at him furiously. "That’s impossible! I’m my father’s only female child! How could he possibly care more about that woman, Bai Su, than me?"
But no matter how much she protested, she couldn’t change her fate: stripped of her rank and thrown into confinement. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

After tidying up a bit, Bai Su came out of the kitchen, her gaze happening to meet Yelias’s from the second floor.
She froze for a second. The windowsill obscured the lower half of Yelias’s face, so she could only see the upper half. His eyes were particularly striking.
Though his gaze was that of an old man, his eyes were incredibly deep and bright, the whites of them perfectly clear.
Looking at those eyes alone could give one the mistaken impression that he was a very young man.
Bai Su couldn’t help but smile. She gathered her skirt and headed upstairs.
She pushed open the door and entered. Yelias was sitting in a rocking chair by the private room’s window.
