Chapter 211: Chapter 209: Li Chenlin is Furious

He pushed the door open with a dark expression, his eyes fixed on the three people laughing and roughhousing on the sofa.

Each of them was holding a wireless game controller, maneuvering their characters on the large screen.

The screen was split into three sections, clearly showing that the three of them were each controlling a character in the game.

"Susu..." Li Chenlin’s voice was tinged with resentment.

Rosa Meiya didn’t even spare him a glance, saying urgently, "Hey, who’s that? Don’t block the view! I’ve got someone on me!"

Bai Su heard the footsteps too and assumed someone nearby was about to ambush them.

She grew a little anxious. "Li Chenlin, can you move to the side for a second? You’re blocking the screen..."

Seeing this, Li Chenlin felt even more wronged.

But he couldn’t very well lash out in front of Bai Su, so he just sat down to the side and waited quietly.

He had originally thought Bai Su rejected him because of Wen Dabao.

Losing to a little brat wasn’t shameful. He knew Bai Su had been desperately searching for these children for a long time, and he had no interest in competing for affection with a little girl.

But!

Why was there a fish here, too?

And Rosa Meiya... wasn’t he a damn *female*?!

Li Chenlin took a deep breath, and then another, trying his best to appear calm.

The group played video games until dinnertime.

Bai Xiaolang and the other two little ones returned with Wen Xiaobao, and Yelias got home from work. Only then did Wen Dabao reluctantly put down her controller. "Alright, I guess we’ll stop here for today..."

Bai Su had also been playing all afternoon and felt dizzy. She tossed her controller aside and stretched her body. "We shouldn’t play for this long next time."

Li Chenlin, who was sitting nearby, snorted coldly. "Are games really that fun?"

Just as Bai Su was about to speak, Rosa Meiya collapsed onto the sofa. "Owww... My legs are numb. Sis, give me a hand."

Bai Su reached out, grabbed his large hand, and pulled him up from the sofa with a strong tug.

Rosa Meiya couldn’t stop his momentum and crashed into Bai Su. The two of them staggered and ended up in an embrace.

Li Chenlin exploded on the spot. He grabbed the back of the fish’s collar and yanked him away. "Where do you think you’re putting your hands, you stinking fish fillet!"

’Fucking &!#¥... damn it all %¥@¥& stupid asshole ¥#@%...&’

He had gone through so much trouble, on so many dates, just to hold her hand.

And after even more hardship, more dates, and more scheming, he had finally managed to hug her.

And this stinking fish fillet, Rosa Meiya, got to hug her after just a few games?!

Rosa Meiya was thrown aside. His fishtail slipped on the floor, and he fell hard, his tail also knocking over a nearby trash can with a loud CRASH.

The little ones and Yelias heard the commotion and couldn’t help but look over.

Bai Su frowned, clearly displeased. "Li Chenlin, what are you doing?"

Li Chenlin felt utterly wronged. "I didn’t do anything! He fell on his own!"

’I just gave him a light push, okay? How could that dead Mermaid be so big yet so unstable as to fall that far?’

Bai Su sounded a little helpless. "I saw you push him."

Li Chenlin glared at the Mermaid whimpering on the floor, his chest heaving with anger.

The little ones by the door all stared at him in surprise, as if wondering why he was causing such a huge scene.

Even Bai Su didn’t believe him.

Li Chenlin felt a suffocating tightness in his chest. He turned, ran upstairs, and slammed his bedroom door shut with a BANG.

Bai Su looked upstairs with some concern, but with the children watching, she didn’t feel it was right to chase after him.

Wen Xiaobao obediently went over and tried to help Rosa Meiya up. "Are you okay, mister?"

When Rosa Meiya turned his head and saw such a soft, sweet, and adorable little child, a strange sense of guilt washed over him.

’Putting on an act and faking it in front of a child... this won’t be a bad influence on her, will it?’

He scrambled up, a bit embarrassed, and guiltily ruffled Wen Xiaobao’s hair. "Mister... Mister’s fine, haha. I just slipped."

Wen Dabao pulled her little sister aside. "How was class today? Did anyone bully you?"

’Her little sister was the cutest little angel in the world. She couldn’t let her associate with someone so full of schemes, lest she be led astray.’

’It was better to let her deal with bad guys like him.’

Bai Su looked at Rosa Meiya. "It’s getting late. Would you like to stay for dinner?"

Rosa Meiya was about to nod when Wen Dabao suddenly piped up, "Mr. Mermaid, have you been out of the water for too long? I think your face looks like it’s peeling a little."

Hearing this, Rosa Meiya immediately cupped his handsome face. "Out of... out of water?"

Wen Dabao nodded seriously. "Yeah, it looks like there’s some dry skin peeling on your nose."

Rosa Meiya quickly covered his face and said in a fluster, "Susu, I won’t stay for dinner then. You... let’s meet up again next time."

Wen Dabao waved goodbye to him with a beaming smile.

Seeing this, Bai Su didn’t press him to stay. She had Yelias take the little ones to wash up while she turned and went into the kitchen to prepare the food.

「After dinner.」

Bai Su said, "I’m going to go upstairs to check on Li Chenlin. You all be good, take your baths, and go to your rooms to do your homework, understand?"

The little ones nodded obediently.

Bai Su then turned to Wen Dabao and Wen Xiaobao. "If your dad doesn’t come to pick you up, you can just stay here tonight. Don’t go back by yourselves, okay? It’s not safe at night."

Wen Xiaobao’s eyes lit up. "Then can I sleep with Mommy?"

Wen Dabao quickly held her sister back. "No, no, Dad will be here to pick us up soon."

Bai Su nodded. She had a servant pack a bento box for them to take to Wen Lan later, then carried a tray of fresh food upstairs to find Li Chenlin.

’After making him that angry, she naturally had to coax him.’

She stood at the door with the tray and knocked. "Li Chenlin, it’s me."

There was no response from inside.

Bai Su frowned and knocked again. "Li Chenlin, I’m coming in with the food, okay?"

"Don’t!" Li Chenlin’s sulky voice came from just inside the door.

Bai Su sighed helplessly. "Then should I ask Auntie Hua Hua to bring your food up?"

Usually, just mentioning Hua Hua was enough to make Li Chenlin compromise.

Sure enough, the door clicked open.

A small smile played on Bai Su’s lips as she pushed the door open, stepped inside, and closed it behind her.

The room was filled with a rich, dry, woody fragrance.

Li Chenlin was sitting cross-legged in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his shoulders slumped.

The room’s lights were off. The window looked out onto the conservatory in the backyard, and the faint garden lights barely illuminated the small area in front of the window. White petals were swept up by the night breeze, drifting past.

It made his silhouette look especially wronged and lonely.

Bai Su’s heart ached a little. She walked over with the food. "Li Chenlin..."

Li Chenlin snorted coldly. Sensing her sit down on his left, he shifted his body slightly to the right.

It was a clear sign of his anger.

Bai Su had no choice but to place the tray in front of him. "I made you rose-wine drunken shrimp. Isn’t this kind of raw food your favorite? Want to try some?"

"No," Li Chenlin said with his back to her, his voice muffled and laced with a mix of proud grievance and hurt.
