Chapter 196: Chapter 194: The Great Green Tea Showdown
Bai Su raised an eyebrow. "I can’t even touch you?"
Wen Lan didn’t want to explain further, so he just said, "I’m allergic to females. Sorry."
Seeing this, Bai Su recalled how he’d avoided the server who had tried to hand him an apron, so she didn’t press the issue.
Li Chenlin’s comments suddenly popped up in the live stream chat: [??? Who the hell is that?]
[Fuck! That dog Wen??]
[What are you doing in Susu’s stream?]
[Who the fuck do you think you are, being in Susu’s stream?]
[You just wait, I’m coming to fuck you up right now!]
Other viewers: [Hahahahahahahaha, President Li is late, but he always arrives!]
[President Li woke up to find his world had collapsed. Anyone can get into Bai Su’s kitchen and get close to her, except him!]
This all started because of Li Chenlin’s troublemaking.
He claimed he wanted to learn how to cook, but whenever Bai Su got close, he would get... a reaction. His pants were even caught on camera once.
As a result, Bai Su’s stream was promptly banned for 24 hours for inappropriate content.
This made Bai Su so angry that she forbade him from ever entering the kitchen again.
Li Chenlin arrived on the scene, cursing and muttering, only to be stopped by Yan Qingya.
Since Bai Su hadn’t let him in, he didn’t dare force his way through. All he could do was watch helplessly as Wen Lan shamelessly spent hours with Bai Su, nearly making him see red.
Wen Lan was still not used to being alone with an adult female, but when he came out and saw Li Chenlin fuming, he suddenly felt refreshed and invigorated. ’I’ve still got it,’ he thought.
Li Chenlin snorted and looked away.
Wen Lan rolled his eyes and turned to Bai Su. "I’ll come over again tomorrow, then."
Bai Su nodded, taking off her apron and coming out from the kitchen.
Li Chenlin rushed to greet her. "Susu, how about we go see a movie later? I booked a private theater. There’s a new movie out that’s supposed to be amazing!"
Bai Su hesitated. "But I have to pick up Little Treasure from school today."
Li Chenlin said, "That’s no problem. The movie is at night. We can go after dinner. You can rest up, pick up the kids, and then we’ll have dinner and go."
Hearing this, Bai Su smiled and nodded. "Okay."
She loved it when Li Chenlin took her out.
It was always nice to get out and relax after work.
But Lu Tingyan and Yelias were both very busy, so only Li Chenlin was free to find ways to cheer her up every day.
Just before pushing the door open to leave, Wen Lan overheard their conversation. A glint in his eye, he left the restaurant.
Bai Su took a shower, had lunch with Li Chenlin, and rested for a while.
The kindergarten let out early. Bai Su and Li Chenlin picked the little one up and brought her home. After making dinner and feeding the children, they were just about to leave when they were startled to see Wen Lan and Wen Dabao at the door.
A sense of foreboding washed over Li Chenlin.
Wen Lan smiled faintly. "Miss Bai, it seems Little Treasure is very fond of you."
Wen Xiaobao happily threw herself into Wen Lan’s arms. "Dad!"
Wen Lan picked the little girl up. "Didn’t you always say you wanted to see a movie with Mommy? They’re going today, do you want to go with them?"
Wen Xiaobao’s eyes lit up. "Can I?"
She was always so envious whenever she saw other kids going to the movies with their whole families!
Wen Dabao chimed in from the side, "Hey, I want to see one too! I haven’t seen a movie in ages! It would be great if we could go see a movie tonight!"
Bai Su’s eyes lit up. "Of course, that would be great!"
She turned to Li Chenlin. "How about we all go together? The more, the merrier."
In his head, Li Chenlin cursed Wen Lan’s ancestors back eighteen generations.
He forced a stiff smile. "The movie we’re seeing is a bit gory. It might not be suitable for children..."
He had it all planned out: a private screening with couple’s seats, a horror movie, a dark environment.
He’d have the staff turn the air conditioning down to its lowest setting.
That way, he might get a chance to hold Bai Su’s hand. If he was lucky, she might get scared and jump into his arms.
And then he could wrap his arms around her...
Li Chenlin shot Wen Lan a venomous glare.
’That bastard!’
Wen Lan smirked roguishly and gave a casual grin. "We can just see a different movie, can’t we? There’s a new one called *Little Dog Karting*. Little Treasure has been dying to see it."
Wen Xiaobao nodded excitedly.
Bai Su said, "Okay! Let’s watch that one then."
Seeing this, Li Chenlin had no choice but to concede. "As long as Susu is happy, I’m happy."
But that wasn’t enough for Wen Lan. He added with a smug smile, "A big shot like President Li doesn’t have to go if he’s not into it. It’s probably not your kind of thing."
Bai Su paused. ’That’s true,’ she thought.
’A guy with Li Chenlin’s personality would never watch a cartoon, would he?’
She looked at Li Chenlin hesitantly. "Maybe we should do this another time..."
Li Chenlin was grinding his back teeth to dust, but he still had to force a smile. "It’s fine, Susu. I love cartoons."
Bai Su breathed a sigh of relief. "Then let’s all go."
Seeing their chance, Bai Xiaolang and the other two little ones immediately clamored, "We want to go too!"
Bai Su said, "Okay, okay, okay, everyone’s coming."
What was supposed to be a sweet, romantic movie date was thus ruined by Wen Lan, turning it into a family bonding activity. A gaggle of little tykes chattered away, making for a very lively scene.
Li Chenlin sat in the back seat with a dark expression, staring at the back of Wen Lan’s head as he drove. He wished he could use his tail to punch a hole in his skull, suck out his brain, and stomp his underdeveloped brainstem into the ground until it was nothing but mush!
Li Chenlin had already booked the entire theater.
He did this because of Bai Su’s Level 8 Spiritual Power. If low-level males stared at her face for more than a few minutes, they would be easily affected, developing a frenzied possessiveness and pathological obsession.
That’s why whenever he took Bai Su out, he would always clear the venue to avoid trouble.
The theater had originally been set up with couple’s seats, designed for two people each.
Li Chenlin pulled Bai Su toward a seat in the back. "Susu, let’s sit here."
Wen Dabao suddenly squeezed in. "I want to sit with you too!"
Bai Su paused.
Wen Dabao dragged Wen Xiaobao over. "Her too."
Wen Xiaobao’s eyes lit up, and she looked at Bai Su shyly. "Can I?"
Bai Su’s heart melted. "Of course, you can!"
The couple’s seat was actually a large sofa booth, spacious enough for two adults to sit comfortably or even roll around on—perfect for facilitating... certain activities.
Bai Su was petite, and the little tykes weren’t very big either, so there was more than enough room for all of them to sit together.
Seeing this, Bai Xiaolang and the others quickly raised their hands. "We want to sit there too!"
Bai Su didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Okay, okay, okay, you can all sit with me."
The five little ones crowded around Bai Su, completely filling the booth.
Next to them, Li Chenlin’s face was thunderous.
As if that wasn’t enough, Wen Lan walked over and said "amicably," "Then the two of us can sit in the seats behind them."
Li Chenlin instantly reacted as if someone had stepped on his tail. "Who wants to sit with you?!"
Bai Su and the others turned to look at the two of them.
Wen Lan shrugged with an amused, magnanimous expression. "I was just making a friendly suggestion. If you don’t like it, then forget it."
With that, he turned, rubbed his nose, and muttered under his breath, "As expected of snakes. Such a petty species."
Wen Xiaobao was clearly frightened. She blinked at Li Chenlin, looking uneasy. "Mister, do you... not like my dad?"
Wen Dabao quickly comforted his sister. "Silly, why would you think that?"
"Of course he doesn’t like Dad."
Bai Su frowned slightly and looked at Li Chenlin.
She didn’t want the adults to display such emotions in front of the children; it would be a bad influence on them.
Li Chenlin immediately understood what Bai Su was thinking. He turned to glare at Wen Lan, once again grinding his back teeth.
’This bastard!’
He took a deep breath and forced a smile. "Sure. Let’s sit together."
’So we’re competing to see who’s more disgusting, are we? Playing the good guy in front of Susu, huh?’
’Bring it on! Who’s afraid of who?!’
Li Chenlin put on a "kind" smile and, as if marching to his own execution, hooked his arm around Wen Lan’s, yanking him down into the booth seat.
Caught off guard by the sudden physical contact, Wen Lan was instantly so disgusted that goosebumps broke out all over his arm.
Li Chenlin asked, "Why do you look so disgusted with me? Was your invitation to sit together just an act?"
A bewildered Little Treasure, a stifled-laughing Da Bao, the three accustomed older brothers, and the oblivious Bai Su: "?"
