Chapter 193: Chapter 191: The ’Green Tea’ Li Chenlin
Li Chenlin: "She and I have the closest relationship. You, you stinking lizard, want to join us? In your dreams! Not even in your next life!"
Wen Lan hadn’t even thought about joining, but Li Chenlin’s words instantly provoked him. "Tch... If you’re not going to use your eyes, donate them to someone who needs them. *Your* Susu? She was just begging me to join your family, and I couldn’t even be bothered!"
Li Chenlin’s expression darkened. "What’s there to be so arrogant about? You’re just a lackey for the International Alliance!"
Wen Lan, not to be outdone, shot back, "And what are *you* barking about? Have you gotten addicted to being a simp?"
The two fought tooth and nail, nearly blowing the roof off the restaurant’s third floor.
A vein bulged on Bai Su’s forehead. She silently dialed her phone. "Hello? 911? I’d like to report a disturbance. Someone is causing trouble in my restaurant."
Half an hour later, Li Chenlin and Wen Lan were being bundled into a police car.
Without a single glance back, Bai Su took her little cubs and returned to the mansion.
*
The next day, when the two were released, they were both considerably more subdued.
One was the second-in-command of the International Alliance.
The other, a global underworld boss.
It was the first time in a holding cell for both of them.
No one dared to take a call from a Level 8 Female lightly, but once the men were actually in custody, no one dared to truly punish them.
And so, a group of rank-and-file Federation police officers spent all night pleading with the two big shots, finally getting them to reluctantly agree not to cause any more trouble in the city.
When Li Chenlin returned to the mansion, he was still cursing inwardly.
Before he even entered the living room, he heard a little girl giggling inside.
’That’s right, yesterday that bastard Wen Lan said Susu gave him two little females?’
’Heh, what does he mean, *his*?’
’These little darlings belong to everyone!’
Standing at the door, Li Chenlin punched his own handsome face, tore at his clothes, and mussed up his hair to make himself look a little more pathetic.
Only after completing this performance did he push open the living room doors.
Bai Su was having breakfast with the little ones while Yelias watched from the side, a gentle smile on his face.
Li Chenlin walked in, and upon seeing Bai Su, he put on a perfectly pitiful expression. "Susu, I’m back..."
Seeing his pathetic state, Bai Su couldn’t help but gasp. "How did you get beaten up so badly?"
Li Chenlin lowered his head, looking guilty and helpless like a child who had done wrong. "I’m sorry. It’s all my fault, I deserved it. I shouldn’t have lost my temper and fought with Wen Lan, damaging the restaurant..."
Bai Su had only wanted the two of them to cool off at the station. She never expected he’d come out looking so beaten up.
Li Chenlin’s handsome face was so haggard it made him look exceptionally pitiful.
He had fair skin, which made the bruise at the corner of his mouth look especially stark and shocking.
Bai Su started to feel a little guilty. "How could he beat you up like that? You... come have some breakfast. I’ll get an egg to roll on the bruise."
Li Chenlin’s tail nearly started wagging. He quickly sat down obediently beside her. "No, no, don’t blame him. It was all my fault. If I hadn’t burst in last night, none of this would have happened."
He put on a sincere, apologetic expression, looking for all the world like someone who had been cowed by Wen Lan’s beating.
Wen Dabao clicked her tongue and shook her head from the sidelines.
’In all her five years of life, this was the first time she’d ever met such a green-tea snake.’
’How was her dad—who only knew how to dangle a cigarette from his mouth, stare into space, and blow up the kitchen—supposed to compete with that?’
Bai Su peeled a fresh, warm, hard-boiled egg and cupped his face in her hand. "Don’t move, okay? Let me rub it for you."
She leaned in extremely close, her long, soft hair draping over his shoulder. A faint honey-peach scent wafted gently from her, caressing his face.
Li Chenlin had an almost instantaneous reaction. Fortunately, the long tablecloth concealed his lower body.
But being so close, how could Bai Su possibly miss it?
She froze for a moment, then viciously pressed the egg against his mouth. "Don’t you dare move!"
Looking both wronged and bashful, Li Chenlin squeezed his legs together, his body stiffening as he didn’t dare to move another inch.
Yelias narrowed his eyes and suddenly let out an elegant, low chuckle. "Li Chenlin, that injury on your face... it only appeared about ten minutes ago, didn’t it?"
"And looking closely, it doesn’t really seem like a punch from someone else, does it?"
Bai Su froze at his words.
Li Chenlin pursed his lips and placed his hand over Bai Su’s. "Susu... I should probably do it myself. It seems someone’s getting jealous and doesn’t like seeing us so close."
"Why don’t you go sit with Yelias? I can roll the egg on it myself, really."
Bai Su shot Yelias a speechless look. "Don’t you start."
Yelias: "..."
Bai Su slapped away Li Chenlin’s hand as he tried to take the egg. "Let go. Can you even see where the bruise is? I’ll roll it out for you; it’ll stop hurting soon."
"But..." Li Chenlin shot an affected glance at Yelias before meekly tilting his head back up. "Alright, then."
The hand Yelias was using to hold his fork tightened slightly. The fork bent gracefully in his grasp, completely ruined.
Not wanting another argument to break out, Bai Su looked at Yelias. "The food for Li Yue is in the kitchen. When you’re done eating, remember to grab it for her."
The little ones were also nearly finished eating. She reminded them, "Little Wolf, you all have school today, right? Take your little sister with you. And Da Bao, you..."
Wen Dabao quickly piped up, "I... I was just crashing breakfast. I have to go home in a little bit."
Bai Su paused. "You don’t have school?"
Wen Dabao wasn’t ready to reveal her identity as a junior agent for the International Alliance. She stuffed a whole bun in her mouth and mumbled, "Mmf... ah... I’m off!"
And with that, she beat a hasty retreat.
Seeing that Wen Xiaobao was also about finished, Bai Xiaolang and the other children got up as well. "Mom, we’re off to school now."
Bai Su nodded, then turned to Wen Xiaobao. "Little Treasure, how about Mommy picks you up from school this afternoon?"
Wen Xiaobao’s eyes lit up, and she blushed shyly. "You can?"
Bai Su smiled. "Of course. With your dad not at home, I’d worry about you coming back from school all by yourself."
’Only someone as careless as Wen Lan would let such a sweet, precious little girl travel to and from school by herself.’
Wen Xiaobao broke into a grin, her big, beautiful eyes curving into crescents. Her little drooping ears hugged her cheeks adorably—an expression that was the spitting image of Bai Su when she got shy.
Bai Su’s heart melted at the sight, and she felt a surge of affection. "You have your lunchbox in your backpack, right? Don’t forget it."
Wen Xiaobao nodded obediently. "It’s in my backpack. I didn’t forget."
Only then did Bai Su watch with a relieved heart as Bai Xiaolang and the other children led their little sister off to school.
Yelias grew irritated just looking at the snake. He gave a disdainful snort, his expression softening only when he turned back to Bai Su. "Susu, I’m off to work now."
Bai Su nodded. "Alright."
Only Bai Su and Li Chenlin remained in the dining room.
Li Chenlin laid it on even thicker, whimpering as he tilted his handsome face toward Bai Su. "Susu, it hurts..."
Bai Su peeled another egg to roll over the bruise. "Of course it hurts. Your whole cheek is about to swell up."
A panicked look crossed Li Chenlin’s face. "Is my face ruined? Am I ugly now?"
