Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Willow Quincy Might Go Crazy
"..." Sonia Quincy was speechless.
"Where do you think it came from?" She wrenched her hand free from Willow Quincy’s grasp and tugged awkwardly at her collar. "I’m married. I have a husband. Where else would something like this come from? Have you been living under a rock, making such a big deal out of nothing?"
"Hmph..." Willow Quincy sneered, his gaze a mixture of pain and scorn. "Sonia Quincy, are you that desperate? You’re over five months pregnant and still carrying on like this, still thinking about seducing men?"
"..." Sonia Quincy rolled her eyes at him. She wasn’t fazed by his cruel insults; in fact, she found them laughable. "What’s it to you? Even if you lived on The Moon, you wouldn’t have the right to meddle in a married couple’s private affairs, would you?"
"Besides, Felix Preston is my husband! I like seducing him, and he likes seducing me. Is that a crime? If so, why don’t you call the police and have me arrested right now?"
Willow Quincy’s fists tightened, his breath catching in rage at Sonia Quincy’s gloating. He ground his teeth, each word forced out as if from between clenched jaws.
Strained and filled with hatred.
"Sonia Quincy, have you no shame?"
Sonia Quincy raised an eyebrow. "I have none."
"You—" Willow Quincy was choked speechless by those three flippant words.
Sonia Quincy took a step back, her gaze as cold and indifferent as biting frost, a chill that not even the scorching sun overhead could warm.
"Willow Quincy, I have no shame. In your eyes, haven’t I always been a shameless woman? Ever since Cecilia Quincy came back to the Quincy Family, how many times have you cursed me for being ’shameless’? Can you even count?"
"..." Willow Quincy’s expression tightened, completely unable to answer her.
Sonia Quincy’s lips twisted into a sarcastic smile. "In your eyes, I’ve always been shameless. So why bother asking such a meaningless question?"
"..."
His nails dug deep into his palms, and every nerve in Willow Quincy’s body trembled uncontrollably.
His breathing grew heavy, her words stabbing him like a knife to the chest.
Sonia Quincy watched him with cold eyes. Seeing that he seemed at a loss for words, she decided to leave it at that.
But just then, Willow Quincy suddenly called out her name.
"Sonia Quincy."
Sonia Quincy turned back to him, her tone icy. "Is there something else?"
Willow Quincy stared into her eyes, enunciating each word. "If... if I said I was wrong, would you be willing to give me another chance?"
"...What?"
The words sounded so surreal that when Sonia Quincy heard them, she was completely stunned.
Willow Quincy took a deep breath and repeated in a louder voice, "It was my fault for treating you so poorly in the past. I’ve come to understand my own heart now, and I’m ready to face the consequences. Are you willing to give me another chance?"
"A chance?" Sonia Quincy didn’t understand. "What kind of chance? A chance for me to be your sister again?"
Willow Quincy said, "No, you don’t have to be my sister."
"Then what would I be to you?" Sonia Quincy was even more confused.
"..." But Willow Quincy couldn’t bring himself to say it.
He took two steps forward, grabbed Sonia Quincy by the shoulders, and pulled her close. Looking down at her, he said, "I’ve had the answer to that question ready for a long time, but I can’t tell you just yet. Sonia Quincy, divorce Felix Preston. I don’t care if you keep the baby or not. I just want you to divorce him!"
"Never!" Sonia Quincy wrenched her hands free and scrambled back, putting a safe distance between them.
"Willow Quincy, I will never divorce Felix Preston in my life. You can just forget about it."
"Sonia Quincy!" Willow Quincy roared, his eyes turning red with desperation.
Sonia Quincy clutched the package in her hands and said to him one last time, "Willow Quincy, I’m not interested in your answer, and I have no intention of giving you any more chances. Leave. Don’t ever come back. I don’t want to have anything to do with the Quincy Family ever again."
Willow Quincy asked, "Do you love Felix Preston that much?"
Sonia Quincy didn’t answer directly. She only said, "Felix Preston is my life."
"...Fine. Very fine." Willow Quincy suddenly laughed, a strange and sinister sound. "Felix Preston is your life, is he? Then I’ll just have to see how tough this ’life’ of yours is!"
Before Sonia Quincy could tell him to leave again, he finished speaking, picked up the bracelet from the floor, and strode out of the building without a single backward glance.
Sonia Quincy stared at his retreating back, which seemed to radiate a murderous aura, and a sudden, inexplicable panic welled up inside her.
The panic was a tidal wave from a broken dam, crashing over her in an instant and leaving her breathless.
Her fingers tightened, digging into the edge of the cardboard box as she unconsciously murmured Felix Preston’s name.
"Felix Preston, Felix Preston..."
Without reason or hesitation, she immediately decided to take a cab and find Felix Preston.
Her lunch sat untouched on the table. She went inside, dropped the package in her room, gathered her tablet and drawing pens, and rushed out the door, forgetting to even call Felix Preston ahead of time.
She had been to Felix Preston’s studio many times. After getting out of the cab, she hurried along, nearly breaking into a run by the time she reached the studio door.
"KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—"
She raised her hand to knock. Evan Yates answered immediately, running to open the door with a head of messy hair.
"Sonia?"
Evan Yates was a little surprised to see Sonia Quincy standing outside. "What are you doing here?"
Sonia Quincy’s face was pale. She managed a stiff smile. "Where’s Felix Preston?"
Evan Yates stepped aside to let her in. "Preston’s inside, on the phone with Lynn. She said Liam Joyce wants her to attend a business function with him on Friday."
"Oh..." Sonia Quincy gave a noncommittal nod, not really registering the second half of what he’d said.
She walked into the studio and saw Felix Preston standing on the balcony, talking on the phone.
He was wearing an army-green utility jacket with a matching pair of black jeans. From the back, he looked tall and lean, with a youthful air about him.
Hearing Evan Yates’s voice, he turned around, phone still in hand. His features were sharp and handsome, and a pair of black, half-rimmed glasses gave him the distinct, appealing air of a devoted husband.
He stood in the bright sunlight, his eyes filled with pleasant surprise as he looked at Sonia. The anxiety that had gripped her all the way here finally subsided.
"Just be careful. Don’t let Liam Joyce suspect anything..." Felix Preston slid open the glass door to the balcony and walked over, pulling Sonia Quincy into his arms as he continued speaking to Lynn Preston.
Sonia Quincy clung to his jacket, closing her eyes and resting her forehead against his chest.
His hand moved up to cup the back of her head.
"Okay, I know. I’ll bring your sister-in-law home for dinner in a couple of days."
After hanging up, Felix Preston immediately tilted Sonia Quincy’s face up and asked, his voice full of warmth, "What brings you here?"
Sonia Quincy didn’t want to hide anything from him. "I... I ran into Willow Quincy when I went downstairs to get a package. He wasn’t acting normal. I was worried he might do something drastic to hurt you, so I rushed over to see you."
