Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Felix Preston Changed
"Sonia Quincy..." Felix Preston had never heard that name before. He glanced back at Sonia’s pouting figure, a hint of a smile gracing his narrow phoenix eyes. "Quite the personality."
His friend said, "She sure is. A lot of guys at school are after her."
"Is that so?" Felix asked nonchalantly.
His friend nodded. "Yeah. But unfortunately, she already has a boyfriend. I hear they’ve been together for almost a year."
"Oh." Felix appeared indifferent, but deep down, he felt a small pang of disappointment.
Thanks to this friend, Felix would catch glimpses of Sonia Quincy from time to time for a long while after that.
Sonia was always dressed beautifully, like a magical little fairy. Every time Felix saw her, his gaze would linger on her for an extra second or two.
Four years had passed. Sonia was no longer the little heiress of the Aethelburg Quincy family, but his wife—Felix Preston’s wife.
She no longer dressed up like an exquisite little fairy; now, her clothes and makeup were all about simplicity and comfort. But that didn’t stop Felix from finding her adorable.
’I really hope you can stay this wonderful forever...’
Recalling the torment of their early marriage, Felix truly cherished the wonderful moments Sonia was giving him now.
He reached out, cautiously brushing his fingers against Sonia’s cheek.
"Mmm..." Sonia rolled over with her eyes still closed, a look of annoyance on her face.
He chuckled softly, once again finding her adorable.
"Hmm?" Hearing his chuckle, Sonia groggily opened her eyes and turned to look at him.
"Felix?" A smile bloomed on her face the moment she recognized him.
"You’re back."
Felix leaned down slightly. "I’m back. Did I wake you?"
Sonia rubbed her eyes and propped herself up on the mattress. "You didn’t. I set an alarm. It was about time for me to wake up anyway."
"Easy now." Felix helped her up, placed a pillow behind her lower back, and turned on the warm bedside lamp.
"I heard from Miles Kendrick that you faked a fall to shake down a woman today?"
"Yep." Sonia seemed quite proud of herself. "She was so annoying. How else was she going to leave if I didn’t scam her?"
"That must have been trying." Felix reached out and smoothed Sonia’s messy hair.
Sonia shook her head. "It was nothing. Hey, did Miles tell you I suspect that woman was a spy sent by another agency?"
Felix adjusted his glasses, his gaze landing on the small mole on the tip of Sonia’s nose. "He did. He also said you ran into Cecilia Quincy and Ethan Lockwood downstairs."
"Ah..." Sonia’s expression froze. Seeing the smile on Felix’s face, she knew he knew everything.
"So... is there anything you want to ask? I can totally argue my way out of it."
"Heh..." Felix chuckled, amused. The look in his eyes behind his lenses was softer than a spring stream. "No need to argue. I know you only said that to piss off Cecilia. I trust you didn’t mean anything else by it."
"Fine." Sonia lifted her chin, looking a little smug.
Felix’s hand itched with the uncontrollable urge to touch her face again, but he forced himself to resist.
"Time to get up." He stood up from the bedside, giving Sonia room to move. "It’s almost time for dinner."
Sonia rubbed her face, then stretched her arms out wide for a big stretch. "Okaaaay—"
Before she could finish the word, Sonia’s mouth snapped shut in horror.
Felix froze, and his heart skipped a beat.
...
Sonia Quincy really was a lucky lady; she could just casually stretch and end up poking Felix.
Felix was wearing suit trousers today, the fabric smooth and thin. As soon as Sonia’s hand came up, it landed right on his "third pocket."
And she was just asking for it. Touching the "pocket" was one thing, but she just had to play with fire and give it a little squeeze.
!!!
Felix’s breath hitched, and a deep flush instantly shot up from his neck to the tips of his ears.
"Sonia..." he ground out her name through clenched teeth, his voice hoarse.
Sonia bit her lip timidly, her voice trembling slightly. "I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose."
... Felix took a deep breath, originally planning to let it go. But when he turned and saw the docile look on Sonia’s face, a wicked thought suddenly sparked in his mind.
"You provoked me. You think a simple ’sorry’ is enough to finish this?" He intentionally lowered his voice, making it sound menacing.
Just as he expected, Sonia got scared.
She snatched her hand back, her long eyelashes trembling uneasily with each breath.
"Th-then what are you going to do? I really didn’t mean to. I may have a weakness for handsome men, but I’m not... not *that* wild."
Suppressing a laugh, Felix took off his glasses with one hand, turned off the lamp with the other, and leaned in toward Sonia.
The light suddenly vanished, and Sonia’s eyes flew wide open instinctively. She turned to look at Felix, only to see him pressing down toward her.
...
!!!
Sonia stared at him, sucking in a sharp breath.
He quirked his lips into a wicked smile. "We’re about to have dinner, and it’s not like this is your first time doing this. Weren’t you very good at it last time?"
"You—" His words made Sonia’s cheeks burn. "You’ve changed! You weren’t like this before!"
’Changed?’
The word made Felix freeze for a moment.
’It’s true, I have changed. How did I change? How did I suddenly become so wicked? I never would have treated Sonia like this before.’
’It seems that ever since Sonia had a change of heart, these wicked thoughts about her have been popping into my head from time to time. I used to be able to suppress them, but now, I’m finding it harder and harder to hold back.’
He looked into Sonia’s panicked eyes and began to inch his body back—
—but after moving less than half an inch, he suddenly pressed close again.
’If Sonia can change,’ he thought, ’then why can’t I?’
’He didn’t have to be the man he was before.’
He shed his usual gentle, refined demeanor, becoming forceful and domineering.
Sonia’s whole body felt scorching hot, her heart pounding so fast it felt like it would burst from her chest at any second.
"Fine..."
’I started this, I’ll finish it.’ Sonia accepted the consequences, grabbing Felix’s wrist and pulling him onto the bed.
...
Sonia’s ears were filled with Felix’s warm breath. Although Felix was lost in the moment, a sliver of clarity remained in his mind.
He let Sonia off the hook just before dinner, grabbing a wet wipe from the bedside table to meticulously clean the "mess" from her hands.
Emboldened by the dark room, Sonia started talking trash.
"Felix, I’ve read online that if you use this method too often, it can make a man... bow out of the performance early."
Hearing this, Felix pinched her palm with two fingers. "You started this mess... When I’m like this, is there any other way to solve the problem?
Sonia shot back, "Of course there is! I’m your wife! Once I have the baby, you’ll have other options!"
... Felix’s hand paused, and the look in his eyes as he gazed at Sonia instantly turned fiery.
