Chapter 268: Chapter 271: It’s Your Turn, Cecilia Quincy

A smile played on Evan Yates’s lips as he suddenly lowered his voice. "Our men have found Jude Quinn. We can grab him tomorrow."

Felix Preston’s eyes darkened. "...Where did they find him?"

Evan Yates said, "In a high-end private club in Veridia. When our guys saw him, he was in a private room, harassing a waitress."

"What kind of harassing?" Felix pressed.

"The sexual kind, of course!" Evan Yates frowned, his face filled with contempt. "That Jude Quinn is some kind of creature whose little head controls his big one. The moment he sees a woman, his lower half gets ideas."

"My buddies couldn’t stand the sight of him, so they posed as club guests, went in, and beat the crap out of him. He was screaming and howling, crawling on the floor like a coward!"

"Heh..." Felix Preston let out a cold, mocking laugh.

"Sigh..." Evan Yates sighed and shook his head helplessly. "With a creep like Jude Quinn, what was Jason Sinclair thinking, setting Renee Sinclair up on a blind date with him?"

"She’s his own daughter, for God’s sake. Did he have to screw her over like that?"

"Ah..."

"Ah..."

Sandy suddenly started cooing in his cradle, waving his little hands. Felix Preston turned his head at the sound and saw the little guy waving his arms, trying hard to reach the caterpillar doll resting on his lap.

"Heh," Felix Preston chuckled, amused by the baby’s playful antics. The gloom in his eyes instantly melted away, replaced by paternal affection.

"Look at this little guy, he knows how to get bored." He placed the caterpillar on Sandy. Sandy spread his short, chubby fingers and hastily grabbed the caterpillar’s leg, then began to play with it quietly.

Felix Preston looked down at him, the tenderness in his eyes like a gentle stream, delicately enveloping the little one in the cradle.

Evan Yates, sitting across from him, took in the expression, yet felt that this tenderness paled in comparison to what Felix reserved for Charlotte Shaw.

"Most men in this world are good at putting up a front," he said coldly. "They act all noble and pure in public, but in private, they let their lower half do the thinking."

Evan Yates nodded in agreement. "Renee Sinclair’s personality might be a little quirky, but she’s not bad-looking at all. She definitely doesn’t deserve a guy like that. It’s a good thing she has a mind of her own, otherwise the rest of her life would have been ruined."

Felix Preston wasn’t interested in Renee Sinclair’s private affairs, so he changed the subject.

"What have you heard about Ethan Lockwood?"

"Hmph..." Evan Yates couldn’t help but laugh at the mention of it. "I heard that when he found out Robert Ford was still alive, he threw a massive tantrum in his office. Not only did he smash a bunch of things, he nearly hit his secretary."

"If his secretary hadn’t apologized so quickly, he’d probably be in the hospital right now."

"This happened last night?" A hint of schadenfreude touched Felix Preston’s expression.

Evan said, "Yep, last night. Simon Abbott messaged me about it."

Felix Preston looked up at him. "What else did he say?"

A smirk played on Evan Yates’s lips. "He also said that Ethan Lockwood is in a total panic. Half an hour after hearing the news, he sent a ton of people out on a city-wide manhunt for Robert Ford. Then he groveled to Cecilia Quincy on the phone, begging for her help."

Felix Preston asked, "And what was Cecilia Quincy’s response?"

Evan replied, "Don’t know, but I think her hands are tied right now. The Quincy Group is getting hammered by Shaw Technologies, and she’s got her own huge mess to clean up. Where would she find the energy to help Ethan Lockwood?"

"Besides, Finn Quincy is calling the shots at the Quincy Group now. If Cecilia Quincy wanted to take it upon herself to help Ethan Lockwood, Finn Quincy would definitely not agree."

"Mm." Felix Preston raised an eyebrow, very pleased with the current situation.

"Since Cecilia Quincy’s hands are tied, why don’t we make it so she can’t even save herself?"

"’Can’t even save herself’..." Evan Yates mulled over the phrase, his expression suddenly growing excited. "Preston, you mean it’s time for Cecilia Quincy to receive her lawsuit notice too?"

"Of course." A bright smile lit up Felix Preston’s face. "Doesn’t Cecilia Quincy love to share thick and thin with Ethan Lockwood? We should, of course, grant such a simple wish."

Evan Yates snapped his fingers. "Got it! I’ll notify Senior Counselor Kendrick right now!"

"Ah..."

Perhaps playing with the caterpillar by himself was no longer fun, as Sandy started to coo again with his mouth open.

Felix Preston reached out, took the caterpillar, and dangled it in the air to tease him.

"Did Renee Sinclair say when she could come over?"

Evan Yates typed a message, his head bowed. "She told me this afternoon."

"Alright." Felix Preston pushed up his glasses as they slid down his nose. "Tell your buddies not to move on Jude Quinn for now. Wait until Renee Sinclair and I confirm the suspect, then we’ll decide whether to bring him in."

Evan Yates said, "Okay!"

「Meanwhile, at the Quincy residence.」

Cecilia Quincy had just gotten off the phone with Ethan Lockwood and was now sitting on her bed, at her wit’s end.

Ethan Lockwood was at the center of a media storm, and both his reputation and future were looking bleak. If she chose to help him, there was a high chance she would be dragged down with him.

But if she chose not to help him, he would use that leverage to threaten her. If he really got desperate and exposed everything, her fate would probably be ten thousand times worse than his!

With no good outcome whether she helped or not, Cecilia Quincy was completely unable to make a choice.

"Ugh!" She raised her fist and slammed it hard onto the duvet, sick with regret.

"If I’d known it would come to this, I never should have gotten involved with Ethan Lockwood, let alone colluded with him to do so many despicable things!"

"And now look! Not only is he finished, but I’m going down with him! If I had known, I should have chosen Felix Preston back then! He was such a great prospect, how could I have let him slip away!"

"To think Charlotte Shaw just got to swoop in and get that lucky..."

"What are you muttering to yourself about?"

Finn Quincy suddenly pushed open Cecilia Quincy’s door and walked in, a suspicious look on his face.

"...Dad!" Cecilia Quincy jumped, her heart nearly skipping a beat.

"Dad, you’re back." She stood up from the bed, turning to face Finn Quincy with a pale face.

"Mm," Finn Quincy grunted, frowning. His gaze was full of impatience. "What were you saying in here all by yourself? What was that about a ’great prospect’? And who ’got lucky’?"

"N-nothing..." Cecilia Quincy denied guiltily. "I was just watching TV. It must have been a line from the show."

"..." Finn Quincy studied her with a dark expression, the irritation and displeasure in his eyes growing by the second.

"At a time like this, you’re in the mood to watch TV? Do the Quincy Group’s troubles have nothing to do with you?"
