Chapter 257: Chapter 260: Cecilia Quincy, You’re Done For
"AHHHH!!!!"
Cecilia Quincy shrieked at the top of her lungs. With her upper body restrained, she could only kick her legs wildly in a desperate attempt to shove Lynn Preston away.
"Let go of me! All of you, let me go!!!"
Nearby, Ramona Lawrence and Yvonne Scott weren’t faring much better.
SLAP! SLAP!
Hannah Sutton raised her hand and deftly slapped each of them across the face.
"I’ve been sick of the sight of you two for a long time, you brainless morons!"
"You do whatever Cecilia Quincy says. When Cecilia Quincy does something stupid, you do something stupid right along with her! You kiss up to her so hard—are you hoping that when the Quincy Family makes it big, they’ll bring you along for the ride?"
"It’s none of your business!" Ramona Lawrence, her hair a total mess, shouted defiantly at Hannah Sutton.
SLAP!
Hannah Sutton slapped her again, so hard that she saw stars.
"I’m not telling you what to do. I’m laughing at you!"
"Cecilia Quincy isn’t the Three-Eyed Warrior; she won’t be taking her dogs with her when she ascends to godhood!"
"You’re the fucking dog!" Yvonne Scott retorted feebly as she tried to kick her.
SLAP!
Playing fair, Hannah Sutton gave her a slap as well.
Once she was done, she pointed a finger in Fiona Dalton’s face. "Fiona Dalton, you’re old enough to know better! How could you not learn to be a decent person? My sister may not be your biological daughter, but she was raised by you for over twenty years. How could you have the heart to treat her this way?"
"..." Fiona Dalton guiltily averted her eyes, her expression turning utterly foul.
After all, she was old. And though she acted with a complete lack of dignity for her age, she was still an elder, so Hannah Sutton and Lynn Preston hadn’t laid a hand on her. Compared to Cecilia Quincy and Ramona Lawrence, she looked relatively presentable. Only a few strands of her hair were out of place.
With one hand on her hip and the other pointing, Hannah Sutton continued, "No wonder my sister could never be your daughter! It’s because she’s too good, too well-behaved. She could never fit into this filthy, disgusting Quincy Family!"
"Your Quincy Family really churns out the gems, doesn’t it? You’ve got Cecilia Quincy, who’s pathologically jealous, with a malicious mind and ruthless methods, willing to drag innocent people down just to get what she wants!"
"Then there’s Willow Quincy, who not only blatantly lusts after his own sister in some incestuous fantasy but also wants to test the law by pulling a kidnapping right under the police’s nose! I think the Quincy Family is trying to get itself wiped out!"
"Hmph..." Hearing this, Fiona Dalton let out a scornful laugh.
"Hannah Sutton, what nonsense are you spouting? While it’s true our Quincy Family can’t compare to the Shaw Family, we’re still a leading enterprise in Aethelburg. Even if our Willow and Cecilia are disappointments, the family’s assets are more than enough for them to squander for a lifetime!"
"’Wiped out?’ Even if eighty percent of the companies in Aethelburg went under, the Quincy Group wouldn’t necessarily be affected."
"...That confident, are we?" Felix Preston said, crossing his arms. Behind his glasses, his eyes were chillingly detached.
Fiona Dalton tilted her head back arrogantly. "Of course."
Felix Preston asked, "And what if your son and daughter both break the law?"
"Is that even possible?" Fiona Dalton retorted.
Felix Preston adjusted his glasses with an elegant motion. "Why wouldn’t it be? If Charlotte’s disappearance is connected to Willow Quincy in any way, his life is over."
"As for Cecilia Quincy, unbeknownst to you, she’s committed quite a few crimes herself."
"...What?" Fiona Dalton was stunned.
"What nonsense are you spouting?!" Cecilia Quincy, her face covered in red handprints, glared at Felix Preston, aggrieved and furious.
Felix Preston’s gaze shifted to her, a smirk playing on his lips. "Cecilia Quincy, do you know why the police are targeting Ethan Lockwood?"
Cecilia Quincy frowned, her expression puzzled.
Felix Preston didn’t explain, only saying mysteriously, "You and Ethan Lockwood committed the same crime. The reason the police are after him is the same reason they’ll be coming for you."
"Cecilia Quincy, it’s about time. You’d better prepare yourself."
"..."
Cecilia Quincy’s dark eyes darted about nervously, the confusion in them gradually replaced by terror.
Fiona Dalton, unaware of the details, continued to defend her precious daughter.
"Felix Preston, watch your mouth! Our Cecilia is the most sweet and gentle girl. How could she possibly commit a crime with Ethan Lockwood?"
Felix Preston couldn’t be bothered to argue with her.
"Brother, make them leave. If they stay any longer, they’ll pollute the air in the Shaw residence."
Mason Shaw nodded and immediately ordered the servants to release Fiona Dalton and her entourage.
"Now get lost. Don’t dirty the floors of my home."
"Let go of me!" Cecilia Quincy finally broke free from the servants’ grasp.
Even after being slapped several times and taking a few solid kicks from Lynn Preston, she still hadn’t learned her lesson.
"I’m calling the police!" she fumed, pulling her phone from her pocket to dial 911. "You all ganged up on me! I’m going to have you arrested!"
"Go on, then," Lynn Preston said, looking completely unfazed. "Call them. The police won’t do anything for you anyway."
Cecilia Quincy shot back, "And who do you think you are? You say they won’t care, and that’s supposed to be it?"
Hannah Sutton smoothed her slightly messy hair and offered, with mock helpfulness, "We did hit you, that’s true. But you hit back. Fun fact: once you fight back, it’s considered a mutual affray. Even if you call the police now, that’s how they’ll handle it. So, either we settle this peacefully, or we all go to the detention center together."
"Um... Cecilia," Yvonne Scott whispered, tugging on Cecilia Quincy’s sleeve. "I think what she’s saying is true. As long as we fought back, the police will classify it as mutual combat."
"If it’s mutual combat, both sides get detained. Y-You should think about this."
Hearing this, Cecilia Quincy froze, no longer daring to dial the number.
"Hmph..." Hannah Sutton smirked, raising her eyebrows in triumph.
"Out!" Mason Shaw ordered one last time.
Cecilia Quincy reluctantly put her phone away and exchanged a glance with Fiona Dalton.
Fiona Dalton shook her head, signaling for her to let the matter go.
Knowing they wouldn’t gain anything by prolonging the confrontation, Cecilia could only obey her mother. She led her disheveled, messy group away from the Shaw residence in disgrace.
They had barely left when Renee Sinclair arrived.
"What’s going on?" she asked, looking at the people in the courtyard with a bewildered expression. "Why did the Quincy Family just show up? And... leave looking like that?"
"You certainly took your sweet time," Hannah Sutton said, shaking out her hand, which was numb from all the slapping. She shot Renee a reproachful look. "Lynn and I just had a brawl. You could have shown up earlier to help."
"A brawl?" Renee Sinclair was stunned. "The two of you fought them?"
"Yep," Lynn Preston said, looking rather proud. "It was two against nine, and we scored a landslide victory!"
"Hey, what’s that you’re holding?"
"Er..." Renee Sinclair glanced at everyone in the courtyard and quickly decided to lie. "It’s nothing. Just some boring project files I grabbed on my way out of the car."
"...Really?" Lynn Preston narrowed her eyes, inexplicably unconvinced.
