Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The 2 People Are Both Very Weird

"Felix Preston is my husband. Should I be siding with you instead of him?"

Sonia Quincy watched the fury simmering in Willow Quincy’s eyes and gave a scornful smirk. She was genuinely baffled. "I’ve already been kicked out of the Quincy Family. I have absolutely nothing to do with any of you anymore. Who I side with, who I’m with, whether I live in luxury or poverty—none of that is any of your business."

"Don’t be so possessive about my life. It makes you all look unhinged."

As Sonia Quincy spoke, her expression slowly faded, leaving only icy coldness in her eyes.

"Let go!"

Willow Quincy glared at her, and instead of letting go, his grip tightened.

Sonia Quincy clearly felt the pain. Unable to stand it, she cursed at Willow Quincy, "Are you insane? I’m not your sister anymore, and you still won’t leave me alone? Do you have to hunt me down until I’m dead?"

The corners of Willow Quincy’s lips twitched into a grim smile. "It’s precisely because you’re not my sister anymore that I’ll never let you go."

Sonia Quincy was horrified. "You..."

"Mr. Quincy."

Felix Preston’s voice suddenly rang out, breaking the oppressive atmosphere Willow Quincy had created.

Hearing the voice, Sonia Quincy turned her head. The moment she saw Felix Preston, she smiled, her eyes curving and her gaze gentle. It was as if her previous coldness and sharpness towards Willow Quincy were just an illusion.

Willow Quincy looked at her, stunned, his whole body instantly stiffened.

Felix Preston walked over. His slender, strong hand closed gently but firmly around Sonia Quincy’s wrist, and he pulled her behind him, shielding her from Willow Quincy’s vicious stare.

"Mr. Quincy." Felix Preston was smiling, but his eyes were cold. "Please release my wife."

"..." Willow Quincy didn’t speak, but the force in his hand relaxed bit by bit.

Sonia Quincy sensed it and immediately yanked her hand free, the annoyance on her face undisguised.

Felix Preston adjusted his glasses. The gaze behind the lenses swept over Willow Quincy, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

’He had his suspicions,’ but he said nothing. Instead, he turned and carefully examined Sonia Quincy, asking worriedly, "Are you alright?"

Sonia Quincy shook her head. "I’m fine. Why are you here?"

Felix Preston smiled at her. "I’ll explain in a bit."

Sonia Quincy: "Oh."

Felix Preston lifted her hand, his brow furrowing as he looked at the red marks on her wrist left by Willow Quincy’s grip.

"Did my wife offend you all in some way?"

He asked this without even looking at the Quincy Family members, his thumb gently stroking the red marks.

"..."

The people behind him didn’t answer.

Willow Quincy was still staring intently at Sonia Quincy. Cecilia Quincy held Willow Quincy’s arm, her lips pursed and her gaze evasive.

Ramona Lawrence and the other hanger-on just stared at each other, wide-eyed. Just moments ago, they had been so glib, but now they couldn’t squeeze out a single word.

Felix Preston waited for a moment. When they didn’t speak, he finally turned to look at them.

"Why aren’t you talking? Is it that my wife has offended you in so many ways you don’t know where to start, or is it that my wife hasn’t offended you at all?"

"...Mr. Preston." Cecilia Quincy broke the silence with a radiant smile. "It’s not as serious as you think. We just happened to run into Sonia while we were out shopping and pulled her aside for a few words."

"Is that so?"

Felix Preston ignored her, instead turning his head to ask Sonia Quincy.

Sonia Quincy didn’t want to get tangled up with them. "It doesn’t matter either way," she said. "I don’t know them well. There’s no point dwelling on it."

"Felix, let’s go home. I’m hungry."

Felix Preston paused for a beat, then smiled. "Alright."

Since Sonia Quincy had put it that way, there was no need for him to waste any more time on these people. He took her hand and, without another word, turned and led her away.

Willow Quincy stared silently at their retreating, intimate figures, his breathing suddenly growing short.

"...They just left?" Ramona Lawrence looked at the other follower, her expression a bit stunned. "Th-This isn’t like Sonia Quincy’s usual style, is it?"

The follower watched the distant Sonia Quincy, a trace of doubt in her eyes. "...Why do I feel like Sonia Quincy has become a different person? Her words and actions seem completely different from before."

Ramona Lawrence’s eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Could it be? Has she really changed her ways, like the rumors say?"

The follower thought for a moment, then nodded emphatically. "Very likely!"

"Changed her ways..." Cecilia mulled over the thought, turning to look at Willow Quincy. "Brother, do you think Sonia Quincy has really changed?"

"..." Willow Quincy still didn’t speak.

Ever since Felix Preston appeared and took Sonia Quincy away, he hadn’t said another word.

Cecilia Quincy frowned at him. ’He was acting so strangely.’ But she couldn’t quite put her finger on what was off about him.

"I was just trying to sell a necklace. Who knew I’d run into them? What rotten luck..."

Sonia Quincy told Felix Preston the entire story, from beginning to end, without leaving out a single detail.

After listening, Felix Preston gently squeezed her wrist. "Next time you go out to sell something, remember to message me beforehand. My work is busy, but I can still rush over to be with you."

"The Quincy Family isn’t to be trifled with. When I still had my company, they were at least a little cautious. Now that I’m bankrupt, there’s nothing holding them back. You have bad blood with them, and I’m worried they’ll try to get revenge on you."

Speaking of bankruptcy, Sonia Quincy suddenly thought of a question.

She grabbed his wrist, her tone uncharacteristically serious. "Felix, do you know the real reason your company went bankrupt?"

Felix Preston: "I do."

Sonia Quincy’s eyes instantly widened.

Felix Preston raised his eyes, gazing at the scattered clouds in the distant sky.

"I was a poor judge of character. Someone set me up."

"Who?" Sonia Quincy asked.

Felix Preston: "Bobby Ford."

"Huh?" Sonia Quincy had never heard this name before.

Felix Preston explained, "Bobby Ford was my college roommate. We were very close. He was there with me when I founded the Preston Group. I trusted him completely. I didn’t just give him shares in the company; I let him in on all of our confidential affairs. But he took advantage of his position to embezzle company funds. By the time I realized there was a problem, the accounts were completely drained. It was a multi-billion dollar hole that I had no way of filling."

Sonia Quincy: "Where is this Bobby Ford now?"

Felix Preston: "He fled the country long ago. I had people looking for him for over a month. Just a few days ago, I got word that he went to Burkhon."

"...Was he the only one who ruined you?" Sonia Quincy asked delicately. "Besides him, was anyone else involved?"

Felix Preston said truthfully, "I’m not sure. All the information I currently have points to Bobby Ford. I haven’t found any evidence that anyone else was involved."

’He hasn’t found any...’

’That means Felix has no idea that the real people who destroyed his company were Ethan Lockwood and Cecilia Quincy!’
