Chapter 199: Chapter 202: The Good Show Begins

"...What?" Charlotte Shaw’s brow furrowed. "Ethan Lockwood?"

Felix Preston gave a faint, humorless smile. "That’s right. Ethan Lockwood. He’s blocking our car."

"..." Charlotte Shaw found it incomprehensible and was utterly contemptuous. "Is that fucking idiot insane? Why is he running out here stopping cars?"

"Hmph." Felix Preston was amused by her, the frost in his eyes melting slightly. "Silly. He’s not here to stop cars. He’s looking for someone."

"I’m looking for Sonia Quincy."

The moment Felix Preston finished speaking, Ethan Lockwood, who stood before their car, spoke up abruptly.

"...He’s sick in the head." Charlotte Shaw rolled her eyes, speechless.

Felix Preston brought the basket over and placed it beside her, then caressed her cheek. "Charlotte, wait for me. I’ll go out and deal with him."

He smiled, and without waiting for Charlotte Shaw’s approval, he opened the car door and stepped out.

"Felix..." Charlotte Shaw watched his retreating figure, a knot of nervousness forming in her stomach.

"The person I’m looking for is Sonia Quincy. What are you doing out here?" Seeing Felix Preston get out of the car, Ethan Lockwood’s face instantly darkened several shades.

Felix Preston walked slowly toward him, a contemptuous and smug smile on his face.

After a few days of recovery, Felix Preston’s left foot was much better. He could walk steadily even without a cane.

"Sonia Quincy?" He parted his lips slightly, repeating the name slowly, his expression a mask of confusion.

"Who’s Sonia Quincy? There’s no one by that name in our car."

"Stop playing dumb with me." Ethan Lockwood’s sharp eyes narrowed, a cold, hostile energy swirling within their depths.

"You know exactly who I’m looking for."

"I don’t." Felix Preston’s smile vanished, his expression gradually turning grim. "Mr. Lockwood, the only person in this car is my wife, Charlotte Shaw. Not the Sonia Quincy you’re looking for."

"Hmph," Ethan Lockwood sneered. "Charlotte Shaw, Sonia Quincy... it doesn’t matter. There’s only one person I’m here for."

"Felix Preston, there’s no need to be so tense. If Sonia Quincy truly loved you, I couldn’t steal her away even if I used every trick in the book."

"Heh..." Felix Preston laughed as well, but his smile was icy enough to send a chill down the spine.

"Steal her away? Are you even worthy?"

Ethan Lockwood’s eyes darkened.

Felix Preston continued, "A fickle, promiscuous, opportunistic social climber like you fantasizes about stealing Charlotte? Are you daydreaming?"

"Me, daydreaming?" Ethan Lockwood raised an eyebrow and began walking toward Felix Preston, one long stride at a time.

"Felix Preston, who’s the one daydreaming, and who’s just delusional?"

"How long have you and Sonia Quincy been married? And how long were she and I entangled? The time you two have spent together doesn’t even add up to the hours we spent on dates. How dare you act so high and mighty in front of me?"

"And don’t you forget, the only reason Sonia Quincy agreed to marry you is that I didn’t want her. She only chose you because I cast her aside. You’re nothing but a pathetic rebound."

"And no matter how low I’ve sunk now, I was still the man she once loved most. She even told me that if I were willing to take her back, she would leave everything and return to me in a heartbeat!"

"Felix Preston, what do you possibly have to compete with me?"

Felix Preston adjusted his glasses, his gentle eyes twinkling with amusement.

Ethan Lockwood’s words had been full of provocation, but Felix didn’t seem angry. Instead, he let out a soft chuckle.

"Ethan Lockwood, only losers like to dwell on the past in front of others."

Ethan Lockwood’s throat tightened, and the hands at his sides instantly clenched into fists.

Felix Preston sized him up with a playful gaze and said, word by word, "People who are truly confident of victory never bother with a useless past. They only seize the present."

"Those ’past moments’ you mentioned did exist, but they’ve long since rotted away. Even if you relive them a hundred times a day, they’re still nothing more than a pile of moldy sludge."

"Sonia Quincy is my wife now, the mother of my child. She has absolutely nothing to do with you."

"Don’t even think about seeing her, and don’t you dare sicken her with your presence again."

Ethan Lockwood’s eyes widened in resentment. "Felix Preston, you don’t get to decide. You don’t speak for Sonia Quincy."

"I don’t speak for her?" Felix Preston was amused. "Then what do you want? To hear Charlotte reject you herself?"

Ethan Lockwood said, "I told you, if you’re so sure Sonia Quincy loves you, you should be confident enough to let me see her."

Felix Preston replied, "And I told you, Charlotte has started a new life. I won’t let you go and disgust her again."

With that, he pulled his phone from his coat pocket and called Charlotte Shaw in the car.

"Hello?"

Felix Preston put the call on speaker, and Charlotte Shaw’s clear voice came through.

Felix Preston’s eyes curved into a smile, his voice suddenly softening.

"Baby," he cooed into the phone. "Ethan Lockwood says he wants to talk to you."

"..." Charlotte Shaw was silent for a moment, then snapped, "I have jack shit to say to him. Tell him to get lost and stop keeping me from getting home."

"Alright," Felix Preston replied obediently. "You just wait for me in the car. I’ll be back right away."

"Okay," Charlotte Shaw replied softly. "Hurry back."

Felix Preston: "I will."

He chatted sweetly with Charlotte Shaw, completely ignoring Ethan Lockwood as if he didn’t exist.

After hanging up, he slowly looked up at Ethan Lockwood.

"Mr. Lockwood, you heard my wife loud and clear. Now, can you please get lost?"

"Hmph," Ethan Lockwood sneered through clenched teeth, his eyes red. "Felix Preston, don’t get too cocky."

Felix Preston blinked, his eyes filled with delight. "And why shouldn’t I be?"

As he spoke, he stepped closer to Ethan Lockwood.

Ethan Lockwood didn’t back down, letting him approach until they were face to face.

...

Two pairs of hostile eyes met, neither man willing to give an inch, both radiating sharp antagonism.

Felix Preston’s eyes curved slightly as he said softly, "Ethan Lockwood, you can reminisce about that past all by yourself. Charlotte only loves me now."

Ethan Lockwood retorted, "Don’t celebrate too early. The real show is just getting started."

"Tch..." Felix Preston rolled his eyes in contempt. "Your show ended a long time ago. You’re just the one who refuses to leave the stage."

"..." Ethan Lockwood glared at him, finally rendered speechless by his retorts.

He took two steps back, ready to leave. But then Felix spoke again, his tone suddenly shifting.

"Actually, you’re not wrong."

"...What?" Ethan Lockwood didn’t understand his meaning.

Felix’s eyes flicked up at the corners, a hostile energy surging within them.

"The show between you and Charlotte has indeed ended, but the show between you and me is just getting started."

"Ethan Lockwood, it’s time we dug up our old scores and settled them for good."
