Chapter 441: Chapter 471: Loving You a Little Bit More

Shen Yi gestured between their feet. "Wow, my feet are *this* much bigger than Jiao Jiao’s?"

Qin Jiao was speechless. "Could you be any more childish? If my feet were bigger than yours, now *that* would be a disaster."

"Well, I wouldn’t hold it against you."

"Pfft! Well, *I’d* hold it against *you*!" Qin Jiao feigned a kick, but Shen Yi immediately pinned her foot down with his.

Any more struggling and they’d splash water everywhere, so Qin Jiao had no choice but to give up.

Shen Yi said with a playful grin, "Jiao Jiao, are you busy tomorrow?"

"What’s up?"

"If you’re not busy tomorrow, I want to take you somewhere."

Qin Jiao frowned. "Why all the mystery? What’s it about? I have to go with my mom tomorrow to shop for the New Year!"

Shen Yi looked a little disappointed. After a moment’s thought, he said, "How about the day after tomorrow, then?"

"Seriously, what is it?"

"It’s nothing. I’ll tell you the day after tomorrow."

Qin Jiao felt the urge to kick him again. "Fine, don’t tell me then!"

But Shen Yi adored it when she got a little pouty like this, and he couldn’t resist teasing her again. Qin Jiao gave a cold laugh. "Shen Yi, are you trying to get yourself kicked out to sleep next door again?"

After they returned from abroad, Shen Yi had shamelessly moved back in. Qin Jiao wasn’t one to make a fuss, so she hadn’t said anything.

Then, over the next few days, like an ant moving its nest, he brought his things over piece by piece.

The moment he heard that, Shen Yi didn’t dare tease her any further. He said seriously, "It’s just that Beidou’s dad is giving us an apartment. He picked it out himself and bought us a large, three-bedroom unit in that new development near North City University. There was a small issue with it before, so I didn’t tell you, but the keys are finally ready. When you have time, we can go check it out and see what kind of design you’d like for the interior."

"Beidou’s father is giving it to us?" Qin Jiao asked.

"Yeah."

To be honest, Shen Yi still had his reservations about Beidou. After all, his new stepfather was too young, and Shen Yi was a picky person.

But overall, the man wasn’t bad. He barely passed muster.

Qin Jiao looked at the keys Shen Yi was holding out to her. "Is this... really okay?" she asked.

"They’re offering, so let’s just take it. This is Beidou’s way of trying to win us over, hoping we’ll accept him. Oh, and while the property registration office is still open before the holidays, we should get the household registration transferred over."

"You want to register my official residency under this apartment?"

A North City residency permit wasn’t as difficult to obtain as it would be twenty years later, but it was still a hassle. Du Liya had to pull some strings just to get Xiao Shi and Xiao Cheng enrolled in school.

Her family’s residency permits were all still temporary, which wasn’t a long-term solution.

Now, if Qin Jiao had the chance to secure her official residency, she could eventually transfer her parents’ and younger sister’s permits over as well.

The keys felt heavy to Qin Jiao.

She looked at the man before her and said with a sigh of resignation, "You’re just giving this to me? We haven’t even gotten our marriage license yet. Aren’t you afraid I’ll run off? In a decade or so, this apartment will be worth a fortune."

’And the residency permit, too.’

But Shen Yi just reached out and gently tucked a stray strand of Qin Jiao’s hair behind her ear.

He said, "If you ever leave me, it will be because I did something wrong, not because there’s anything wrong with you. So, as long as I’m on my best behavior and don’t mess up, Jiao Jiao will never leave me."

"You’re that confident?" Qin Jiao asked.

"It means I’ll work hard at it."

Under the warm, orange light, Shen Yi’s smile was dazzling, and his handsome face radiated warmth.

Qin Jiao wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.

Naturally, Shen Yi was pleasantly surprised by Qin Jiao’s initiative. He then took the lead, deepening the kiss into a passionate and tender one.

When the kiss ended, the two of them rested their foreheads together.

Qin Jiao said, "I think I love you a little bit more today than I did yesterday."

Shen Yi feigned discontent. "Just a little bit?"
