Chapter 416: Chapter 446: The Divorce is Off

Mr. Qin yawned and said nonchalantly, "He must have gone into town to divorce Sun Li. I hope he’s not an idiot and gets a good chunk of money and belongings back. It’s a shame about the house, though. It’s in the county seat and would sell for a pretty penny."

Old Mrs. Qin looked like she wanted to say something, but after a glance at her husband’s face, she decided to remain silent.

Meanwhile, Qin Bogang went home first, only to find that his daughter, Xiao Lan, had already left for school and his wife, Sun Li, was not there. He frowned, then immediately hurried toward the Civil Affairs Bureau.

When he got to the Civil Affairs Bureau, he saw Sun Li standing at the entrance, wearing the red coat she had worn on their wedding day.

Sun Li was over forty. They had Xiao Lan quite late in life, partly due to some health problems they both had. Even so, Sun Li had insisted on having her, saying, "Bogang, I know how much you cherish children, so no matter if it’s a boy or a girl, we have to have a child."

Sun Li was an only daughter. Both of her parents were salaried employees, so she had a better upbringing. After marrying Qin Bogang, she was admittedly harsh with him at home, ordering him to do all the chores and making him hand over his entire salary. In public, however, she would tell everyone she met how her Bogang was an honest and devoted family man.

He was still the same honest, down-to-earth man, but the family he was devoted to had always been his parents’, not the small one he had built with her.

This was the reason Sun Li had completely lost hope.

Seeing Qin Bogang standing there in a daze, Sun Li sneered. "What’s wrong? You’re always punctual. How could you be late to divorcing me? But never mind. It’s not like we’ll be doing this again."

Qin Bogang suddenly let go of his bicycle’s handlebars. The bike hit the ground with a CLANG. He strode forward and hugged Sun Li.

Sun Li froze.

’They were a married couple, yes, but they’d been married for ages. And this was on a busy street, with people coming and going! What in the world had gotten into Qin Bogang?!’

"Qin Bogang, let go of me this instant!"

"No," Qin Bogang said softly. "And we’re not getting a divorce anymore."

Sun Li was stunned.

There were simply too many people on the bustling street. Sun Li’s face turned beet red. She finally twisted Qin Bogang’s arm, forcing him to let go. Since they obviously couldn’t get divorced now, they headed home for the time being.

Once they were home, Qin Bogang downed a large glass of cold water and said he was heading to the factory for work. He even volunteered to make dinner that evening, leaving Sun Li utterly baffled.

A few days later, while they were eating dinner, Qin Jiao heard from her parents that her uncle and aunt hadn’t gotten divorced after all. Her uncle had also made a point of calling his younger brother, Qin Zhonghui, to apologize.

Su Yun said, "I have no idea what your father and your uncle talked about that day, but both of them seemed very emotional afterward. Your uncle kept telling your dad, ’Zhong Hui, you’ve suffered so much.’"

"Something must have happened to change his mind. I hope he won’t be so foolish in the future, and I hope he and Aunt live a good life together from now on. If you don’t cherish the good days, they’ll disappear, and it’ll be too late for regrets," Qin Jiao concluded.

Shen Yi, who was sitting beside her, immediately put a large piece of meat in Qin Jiao’s bowl.

Qin Jiao gave him a speechless look.

’I wasn’t alluding to him.’

In truth, Qin Jiao had noticed Shen Yi’s efforts recently, and it would be a lie to say she wasn’t moved at all.

But Qin Jiao was still hesitant about letting go of the past and starting over with him.

Just then, the phone at home started ringing. It was a call from Du Liya at the clothing factory.

"Chen Sheng just finished the financial report, and we made a profit! Not only did we sell all the backlogged inventory, but we also paid off all our previous debts. After subtracting the workers’ wages and other basic expenses, we still have a surplus!"
