Chapter 381: Chapter 381: Overplaying One’s Hand
Su Yun frowned. "The director arranged this."
"Hah. If the director really did arrange it this way, it would be a real slap in the face to us old-timers. So, does this clothing factory belong to the Shens or the Qins?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
Su Yun frowned. She knew the woman was just trying to stir up trouble, but since the matter involved her son-in-law, she couldn’t just come out and say what she thought.
"What’s going on?" As Shen Yi spoke, the surrounding crowd immediately parted to let him and Qin Jiao stride through.
The heavy-set woman’s eyes landed on them. She shot a wary glance at Qin Jiao before quickly turning to Shen Yi. "Xiao Yi, it’s me, your Aunt Feng. Don’t you remember? I used to hold you when you were just a little boy."
"My memory of my childhood is poor," Shen Yi said, his face devoid of expression. "I’ve forgotten." ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Feng Fang: "..."
He turned to look at the crowd. "The last people who caused a scene were all fired, and they didn’t get their final pay. Are you all here for the same treatment?"
Someone in the group immediately spoke up. "Director, we’re here to get back to work! The other production departments are starting up again, so the cafeteria needs to reopen too. Otherwise, no one will have anything to eat."
For the past while, Qin Zhonghui, Su Yun, and Sun Jianhua had been managing the cafeteria with the help of three workers who had previously been ostracized by the old crew. When the factory staff worked overtime altering clothes, this small team had stayed up late right alongside them, preparing late-night snacks.
On the other side stood the plump Feng Fang with seventeen or eighteen people behind her. She used to be the manager of the cafeteria, and this was her entire crew.
To be fair, Qin Zhonghui’s team of three to five people truly couldn’t handle the workload alone. A crew of seventeen or eighteen, however, was far too large.
Shen Yi turned to look at Qin Jiao, unsure of what she had said earlier at the factory gates. Qin Jiao had already assessed the situation. Her parents weren’t at a disadvantage; thankfully, the dispute had remained purely verbal.
She walked forward and nodded. "It’s true, the factory officially reopens tomorrow. With only four or five people in the cafeteria right now, there’s no way they can handle it."
A smug smile touched Feng Fang’s lips. "Now that’s a reasonable statement from our deputy director."
But then Qin Jiao’s tone shifted. "However, what I *also* said was that anyone who wants to return to work must first register at the main office and then wait for an official notice. This procedure applies to the entire factory—not just the production departments, but the cafeteria and logistics as well."
The expression on Feng Fang’s face changed. "But the cafeteria staff... it’s always been these people. I’m used to managing them. There’s no need for any changes, right?"
Qin Jiao smiled. "You may be used to managing them, but I’m not yet used to managing *you*."
"You!" Feng Fang nearly lost her composure. She puffed up with so much anger that she seemed to swell, looking even larger than before.
She let out a strange, mocking laugh. "Let me tell you something, Deputy Director. I only call you that out of respect for the Director. Everyone knows this factory belongs to the Shen family. It was passed down from father to son, so it’s still a Shen enterprise. You people with the last names Qin and Su should probably stop pointing fingers and telling everyone what to do."
Su Yun, Qin Zhonghui, and the others standing nearby were furious, but Qin Jiao remained unruffled. She just smiled and said, "Oh? Then in your opinion, if I’m not supposed to be giving orders, what exactly should I be doing?"
"Aren’t you still in school? You should go back and focus on your studies. And if you have any spare time after that, you should hurry up and have a baby. Raising a child will be more than enough to keep you busy."
"Oh. And from the looks of it, Auntie, at your age, you must have grandchildren by now, right? In that case, you should go home and look after them."
Feng Fang was stunned for a few seconds before the words registered. Her eyes flew wide. "Are you firing me? Xiao Yi! I watched you grow up! You can’t be this heartless!"
