Chapter 378: Chapter 378: You’re Fired

If Qin Jiao had left a few minutes later, she would have heard those words.

But even if she had heard them, she would have remained unmoved. After all, she was long past the age of easily developing crushes.

In Qin Jiao’s mind, that tall, handsome senior was probably less important than the mushrooms growing in her space.

North City University was huge. When Qin Jiao had previously walked around with her aunt and Qin Xiaolan, she had gotten a rough idea of where some of the academic buildings and the library were located. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

After confirming her class locations, Qin Jiao, who happened to have no classes that day, headed straight for the subway station.

She planned to go directly to the clothing factory.

Meanwhile, poor Shen Yi, having rushed through his own tasks, made a special trip to the law school’s registration office. "Excuse me," he asked, "has Qin Jiao registered yet?"

The registration desk was still staffed by the same few sophomores and juniors. They did a double-take when they saw Shen Yi. "She already finished registering and left. Are you a student in our law school too?"

The moment he heard Qin Jiao was long gone, Shen Yi muttered a "no," turned, and walked away, leaving the students in the office to stare at each other in confusion.

Shen Yi made a point of checking the cafeteria, but after finding no sign of Qin Jiao, he immediately left campus, got on the subway, and headed for the clothing factory.

You had to admit, the two of them were getting more and more in sync.

Qin Jiao arrived at the clothing factory half an hour before Shen Yi and heard a lively commotion inside. A deal Shen Yi and Chen Sheng had secured was being processed, and they were now starting to arrange for shipment.

Seeing a few people loading goods, the workers who had previously been stirred up grew restless. One of them approached Chen Sheng and asked, "What’s all this?"

"Shipping out an order, of course."

"People are actually buying these clothes?" another person chimed in, stepping closer. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Chen Sheng nodded but ignored them, simply telling the others to continue loading the truck.

The plan Qin Jiao and Shen Yi had devised was starting to work. When they first announced their intention to resume production, ninety percent of the staff had been resistant. Convinced the clothes would never sell, they just wanted to collect their wages and quit.

And some, of course, had already left.

So, they had focused on the ten percent of workers who were still willing to work, organizing them under Du Liya to alter a batch of the clothing.

Most of the other workers had been watching from the sidelines, but now that they saw an order being sold, they were getting antsy and thinking about returning to work.

"Accountant Chen, we want to come back to work now. What do we do? Who should we talk to?"

"Organize yourselves into your teams. Once a team has a headcount, you can go see the Director when he gets here. The Vice Director works too," Chen Sheng said, relaying the instructions Qin Jiao had given him earlier.

This was because Qin Jiao had told him that if you begged them to return, they would just put on airs and take advantage of the situation. They had to be the ones to take the initiative.

Most of these workers had just been egged on by others. They genuinely wanted to keep their jobs to support their families.

So, after Chen Sheng said this, a few people actually turned and went to find their team leaders.

Just as it seemed many were swayed, one man spoke up in a snide tone, "The Director? You mean those two kids? I hear they’re not even twenty yet."

Qin Jiao had just arrived and overheard this. She asked him directly, "What’s your name?"

Li Tao said defiantly, "I’m Li Tao. What about it?"

"You’re fired. Come with me to the office to settle your pay." Qin Jiao paused for a beat before adding, "However, you’ll only be getting half your wages. You were involved in instigating a workers’ strike and disrupting the entire factory’s operations. I’m also considering reporting you to the police."

Hearing this, Li Tao immediately panicked. "Y-you can’t!" he stammered. "By what right?"
