With his new transcendent technique, all eyes were fixated on him with no one daring to blink. With each electric current that sparked off his body and hair, his Soul-Energy grew immensely, leaving the spectators to wonder what happened next.
The [Limit Break: Electric Burst Evolved] enhanced his speed, agility, precision and strength to the maximum, as a result he transcended the normal human capabilities.
"What... Is this Soul-Energy..." Even with his multiplied stats, Rentaro felt a great deal of unease, almost as if Kai was surpassing him second by second.
"The real contest starts now, Rentaro."
A momentary silence ensued which lasted until Kai took a step forward. He vanished, leaving a trail of dust. Almost immediately, a cut appeared on Rentaro’s face before it was followed by a miniature explosion from behind him.
"W-what?"
As he touched his face, his fingers were soiled a bit with his blood. Kai moved so fast that the officer level Soul-Hunters were barely able to keep up with his movements.
"I missed." Rentaro said softly, looking over his shoulders at Rentaro with his eyes which almost reflected the affiliations with the underworld of assassins.
"Electric Burst?" One of the participants mumbled.
"The speed of his Soul-Technique is incredible, I never imagined anyone could move so extraordinarily." Another one said.
"That second option kid looks overwhelmed, is perhaps his speed too much for him?"
Rentaro snapped out of his shock. "Electric Burst Evolved? That’s quite the Soul-Technique you developed there. Alright, I’ll humor you."
Once more, he immediately extended his right hand forward, then brought his thumb to the tip of his middle finger as if setting a precise trigger.
"Soul-Technique: Temporal Burst!" In an instant, his Soul-Energy flared, and he released the tension between his thumb and the tip of his middle finger, snapping his hand forward in a precise motion.
Another straight line of blue Soul-Energy shot forward, cutting through the air directly towards Kai.
However, Kai didn’t move, he remained perfectly motionless as the straight line of condensed energy engulfed him in a large explosion.
BOOM!
The explosion shattered the grounds of the sparring hall, giving rise to a cloud of dust that covered the whole barrier.
’Did I get him?’ Rentaro thought as he shifted his stance, staring with all his focus at the aftermath of it all.
A gentle breeze escaped the burning ground and instantly, the whole flames cleared out, revealing Kai who stood completely still, with his neck tilted.
"What!?"
"He dodged that Soul-Technique just by tilting his head!?" Hiro couldn’t contain his excitement, and Alaric’s eyes wavered in disbelief.
"Tsk." For the first time, Rentaro became a bit annoyed, and he plunged forward at him.
With intense focus, Kai rushed forward in response, as they approached each other, they exchanged a series of power packed blows and kicks.
However, with each blow Rentaro managed to fend off, Kai responded with a quicker, precise and sharper blow. Eventually, even with his amplified stats thanks to the God-Tier proficiency returns, Kai surpassed his speed and precision.
"Gh-Bleh!" Rentaro groaned, forcefully spitting out saliva from his mouth with wide eyes as Kai sent his knee into his stomach before sending his right fist towards his jaw.
As he was now a bit above the ground, with a cold glance, Kai sent his palm into his stomach and quickly stretched out his two fingers, launching him backwards with all the strength he channeled into his fingers.
He spat out blood before being launched harshly through the grounds of the shattered ring.
As he gained his balance, he stretched his hands down at Kai.
"I’m not done yet! Soul-Technique: Temporal Bursts!" With a loud battle cry, he flicked his hand several times, raining down a relentless barrage of Temporal bursts.
Regardless, Kai pushed forward even with the Temporal Bursts that rained down at him, his two hands were placed above his back assuming the running position of a martial arts specialist.
He maneuvered through the countless lines of devastating power as they struck the ground with the force of a detonated bomb, almost as if he knew exactly where they were going to hit and avoided them with his enhanced speed.
THUD!
As he closed the distance between them, he aimed another uppercut at Rentaro’s jaw which hurled him into the air once again, this time, he launched himself above Rentaro.
Realizing the danger, Rentaro flipped backwards to control his momentum, then threw a right cross as Kai got closer. Their fists clashed, sending a shockwave that rippled through the ground.
Thanks to his enhanced speed, Kai’s strikes were more precise, more faster, and he drove his fist right into Rentaro’s face, driving him down hard into the ground with a loud thud.
As Kai descended, he stretched out his palm and built up a blue ball of energy. The [Limit Break] also enhanced his techniques, making it even more potent and destructive.
And right now, cloaking the energy of his newly acquired Soul-Technique over his Electric Burst, amplified its power greatly.
"Stop!" The 5th’s vice captain exclaimed, he attempted to call off the battle. They all felt the energy behind Kai’s amplified Soul-Technique, and they knew the results if the match should go on.
"Shit!" Rentaro immediately stretched his hand forward again, and shot out another straight line of condensed Soul-Energy at Kai as he approached at high speeds.
"Electric Soul-Technique: Electric Burst!." With a forceful grunt, he slammed the blue ball of electricity forward, and it immediately cancelled out Rentaro’s attack.
Then, Rentaro’s eyes widened to its limits as the blue sphere of energy reflected in his irises, its brilliant glow rapidly closing the distance between them.
BOOM!
Another explosion erupted and this time, both the sparring ground and dome of energy were blown to pieces. The participants covered their eyes to protect it from the dust that emerged from the blast range. The dust cleared after a few seconds, and Kai with blood rolling down his face was seen standing at the other side of the ring, his ability had more drawbacks than he imagined.
Kai’s once-toned frame had grown noticeably leaner, his skin grew paler. It was clear at a glance that the technique hadn’t merely consumed his Soul-Energy, it had devoured his very body mass as well.
As the dust finally settled, Rentaro was revealed on one knee, his chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. Blood trickled down the side of his head, staining his face as he heaved heavily.
"What!?"
The entire hall fell into stunned silence, shock and disbelief spreading across every face. They had all been certain the battle was over, Kai’s devastating technique should have secured his victory without question.
Yet Rentaro was still standing.
The captain of the 4th Soul-Squad shot to his feet instantly, his eyes fixed on the arena as murmurs of disbelief erupted throughout the hall. No one could understand how Rentaro had survived, let alone remained in the fight.
"H-How?" Kai muttered in disbelief, he was sure he had hit him, he was completely sure. So how?

Rentaro heaved heavily, each breath rough as the strain of Timeless coursed through his body. After taking Kai’s monstrous attacks head-on, every muscle ached with dull pain, and fatigue weighed heavily on his limbs.
He could feel a sizable portion of his Soul-Energy drained away, a reminder of the punishment he had to endure for utilizing a divine grade ability.
’I initially planned on passing this selection and winning this contest with only the abilities I had developed, but his Electric Burst Evolved exceeded all my expectations, forcing me to use Timeless.’ Rentaro thought as he stood to his feet and wiped the blood off the side of his face.
"I must admit." Rentaro chuckled, feeling the ache in his mouth. "Your Soul-Technique has surpassed even mine, however... this is where it all comes to an end."
Kai gritted his teeth as Rentaro’s words struck a nerve, his expression tightening for a brief moment. Then, the tension slowly faded from his face, and a smile spread across his lips. "Fine then, if that’s what you want, then I’ll throw everything I have into this next and final attack."
Kai raised his palm, and the energy of his Limit Break: Electric Burst Evolved surged toward it like a raging tidal wave.
He left only a thin layer of electricity coursing through his body to maintain his speed and defense, channeling the rest into a single point. The concentrated energy crackled violently in his hand, and the sheer force of it alone tore through the surface of the ground beneath him.
"This is my strongest Electric Burst, with this..." Kai leaned forward, his body coiling like a spring before exploding into motion. In the next instant, he charged at Rentaro with tremendous speed, a blur of motion tearing across the ring. "I’ll end this battle!"
As Kai closed the distance, he thrust the Electric Burst toward Rentaro without hesitation.
Then, almost instantly, everything seemed to freeze, the air grew still, the noise vanished, and the battlefield fell into an eerie silence.
"It seems you forgot the condition for passing the selection, develop two Soul-Techniques."
Rentaro’s eyes flared with a faint blue hue, subtle yet chilling in its depth.
In that instant, Kai’s body locked mid-motion, his forward surge halted as if an invisible, incomprehensible force had pressed down on every inch of him.
"Although I acquired this skill long before I ascended to the fifth trial, I recently improved it."

Rentaro slowly extended his hand toward Kai’s suspended form, each movement deliberate, almost effortless. His fingers then flicked forward with a casual precision. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"I told you... It’s the end."
A straight line of condensed blue energy shot out at point-blank range.
It tore clean through Kai’s Electric Burst Evolved as if it were nothing more than mist, the collision erupting in a violent burst of force.
Kai’s body was instantly hurled backward through the air, smashing into the hall’s distant walls with a thunderous impact before dropping lifelessly to the ground, unconscious.
The hall fell silent, and everyone was stunned by what just occurred.
Then, after a moment of silence, and after confirming no rules had been broken, the 5th’s vice captain cleared his throat, then declared.
"Winner of this round, Rentaro Mizuno!"
