Chapter 12: Genesis (4)

The cold breeze swept through the street, sending chills to those who weren’t wearing layered clothes. If it weren’t for the cloak she bought, Misha would have been freezing to death already.

Several nearby pedestrians were wearing thick travel gear meanwhile, the woman who caught Misha’s attention looked like she was one strong gust away from freezing death.

Her armor must have some special effects like temperature-related, right? That was the only explanation she could think of.

Well, it was none of her business so she turned to continue down the bustling streets. She still needed a change of clothes and somewhere to spend the night. More importantly... a warm bath. freewebnøvel.com

After everything she had gone through today, a bath was exactly what she needed.

As she wandered down the street, a clothing stop came into view and an eye-catching outfit displayed near the entrance immediately caught her attention. A red and black outfit was displayed near the entrance, by the glass window. It featured a black long-sleeved blouse, a short red skirt with extra layers hanging behind it. Red ribbons, chains, and metal accessories decorated nearly most parts of the outfit. The knee-high boots with red laces completed the look.

It looked expensive, and she wasn’t sure if she had enough coins for it.

As much as she wanted to buy something nice, Misha knew she couldn’t afford to be careless with her money. Every coin mattered, especially when it was only given to her, and she had no way of earning more at the moment.

In the end, she bought only the essentials. It was a cheap set of sleepwear and a simple white cropped top.

With her shopping complete, she found an inn near the market district and rented a room.

The first thing she did was head straight for a bath. The warm water washed away the grime accumulated from an impossible long day. It felt as though she was washing away a small piece of her exhaustion as well.

She still had one more thing to do, her clothes. The set she had worn throughout the day was dirty and torn in several places. If she wanted to wear her undies and the oversized denim shorts, she would need to wash them that night.

After hanging the damp clothes near the window, Misha finally collapsed onto the bed.

She stared at the wooden ceiling in silence. The blanket was warm, the mattress was comfortable, and the room was quiet. For the first time since arriving inside the tower, she finally relaxed. But even so, she couldn’t afford to stay there, not when her brothers were somewhere inside the tower. Every day she wasted was another day further away from finding them.

"Tomorrow..." She whispered to herself. "I need to buy a weapon..."

Waking up early that morning, Misha quickly got dressed. She wore the white crop shirt she bought and paired it with the oversized black denim shorts before she placed the cloak over her shoulders.

After making sure everythign was in order, she sat on the edge of the bed and emptied her coin pouch. Gold coins clinked softly as they scattered across the blanket. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"One... two... three..." She carefully counted each coin. A few seconds later, she let out a sigh. "Twenty one..."

It wasn’t much, but it was all she had. After gathering the coins, she returned them to the pouch and tucked it inside the cloak’s hidden pocket. Only then did she stand up and prepared to leave.

After leaving her room, Misha headed downstairs. The inn’s lobby was already bustling with activity despite the early hour.

As she passed by, her eyes briefly landed on a familiar figure. It was the same woman from last night, only this time, she wasn’t alone. The three others occupied the table with her, chatting casually over breakfast. Misha only spared them a glance before looking away.

Leaving the inn, she began searching for a weapon shop.

Along the way, she bought a piece of bread from a bakery. She ate it as she wandered around.

Several wrong turns and awkward conversations later, she finally found the place she was looking for.

A weapon shop stood before her.

Upon entering the shop, Misha was immediately greeted by rows of weapons. Swords, spears, axes, bows, and even weapons she couldn’t identify lined the walls. Many of them looked beautiful enough to belong in a museum rather than a battlefield. If only she had enough money, she wouldn’t have hesitated to buy a high-quality weapon.

She still had the three blades she had taken from the goblins, but they were little more than crude knives. Daggers demanded close-range combat and far more force to inflict fatal damages. She may have managed against the goblins but that was only because they were small, weak, and half-starved.

But about the next monsters she would encounter? If she wanted to continue protecting herself, she needed something better.

While looking around, Misha picked up several swords one after another. Most felt too heavy to the point where even holding them properly made her wrist ache. There was no way she could swing them effectively in an actual fight.

Eventually, her hand landed on a slender silver rapier displayed near the corner of the shop.

The moment she lifted it, her eyes lit up. It was surprisingly light. The balance felt natural in her grip, almost as if it had been made for someone of her build.

Misha thrust it forward, and the blade cut through the air with ease. "Item status."

A blue window immediately materialized above the weapon.
