Chapter 29: Sparkly Sneeze

The ravens rushed towards White Blade. At least, a third of them did. The rest were chasing the four other crows that headed towards the city.

White Blade was an albino crow. He had white feathers, he was easy to spot within a patch of grass. He couldn’t be mistaken for a flower within the meadows. Flowers didn’t have beaks, and they certainly didn’t move as if they were suffering through a stroke either!

A raven dropped on top of White Blade, going for the kill. A second later, that raven’s world went dark.

Jimmy wasn’t as easy to spot. He stabbed the raven through its chest before it could have landed the killing blow, pulled his knife out of the raven, and continued his violent defense!

In the meantime, White Blade was screaming his lungs out. He wasn’t hurt, but the evolution he was going through really took a toll on him.

His legs were bent out of shape, and his wings too. One would easily assume that the devil himself was trying to crawl out of him! He passed out three times already, but the pain kept waking him up.

There was no escaping the pain of his poorly timed evolution. He wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t feel a potential wound inflicted from the ravens.

As most of the conspiracy (group) of ravens flew towards the city, White Blade’s screams became more and more distinctive. His screams were no longer drowned out by the conspiracy of ravens.

Jimmy could hear it all. He didn’t know how to feel about the fact that White Blade’s blood-curling screams barely affected him. He was irritated, sure, but down to its very essence, his current heroic acts did not sync with his irritation.

"Maybe crows aren’t like humans after all?" He muttered, "Most humans would get really upset if they heard someone scream like this."

Jimmy’s goal refused to be diluted. He killed two more ravens in under a short time.

Ten ravens surrounded him and White Blade once he killed that third raven. Seventeen more were behind that group, and they too were closing in.

"How long until you evolve, buddy?" He said, as he stalked the approaching ravens.

"AAAAHHH!" White Blade kept screaming.

Jimmy didn’t get an answer. He had no choice but to continue standing his ground!

The ravens hesitated to attack, because as they saw Jimmy’s kitchen knife floating above the ground, they whole-heartedly believed that White Blade could make weapons fly with his mind. They haven’t ever seen anything like this!

Nevertheless, some of them gained the courage to attack!

Quick as a startled millipede, Jimmy swung his kitchen knife at a 40° angle, and landed a nasty cut against one of the ravens! Its fancy, fluffy neck feathers did not protect the raven from the blow. Parts of its neck, and its chest was cut wide open!

Right after, he swung his knife against another raven to his left, perfectly horizontal! The raven collapsed, and it began to suffocate.

Blood coated the grass, and grass blades kept getting mowed down by either his swings, or the significantly larger ravens that surrounded him!

"This is easier than I thought," He tried to smile, but his beak got in the way.

A split second later, three whole hammers were thrown towards him, or more specifically, his knife, from ravens who did not dare to approach him!

One of the hammers, likely stolen from a carpenter, directly hit Jimmy’s knife! There was so much force behind that throw, that his knife snapped in half.

"Motherfucker!" He shouted, "You almost broke my toe!"

Virena flung two of the hammers away with her chained sickle, but she couldn’t deflect the third. She did save him from some deep, nasty bruises, though.

The ravens got more confident once they destroyed the floating knife. They charged forward in groups, and aimed their hammers at White Blade!

"They still don’t know I’m here..." He said.

Within a blink, he grabbed White Blade’s dagger, and gained some momentum to spin himself.

As he spun like a ballerina, he raised the dagger horizontally, and his momentum was enough to immediately knock three hammers down!

The ravens were taller than him by more than a foot, but he was no small crow either. He spun three times, and even managed to cut four other ravens in the process! The cuts were small, but it was enough to force them to back off.

The rest of them backed away when they saw that the floating knife was replaced by a floating dagger! Even though they had vastly superior numbers, neither of them wanted to risk an injury.

"And they call Hammer Beak a coward, god damn." He shook his head, "That old fart may be annoying, but I don’t think he’d ever back down from a fight. Not willingly, at least."

Jimmy ignored the notifications. He didn’t even know which ravens were dying off, and which had suffered injuries.

The ravens backed away by a couple of feet, sure but he could tell that they were trying to craft a battle plan. He was still heavily outnumbered, twenty-five to one!

"Damn coal-heads," He said, "I’d sooner eat rat shit before I let any of you outsmart me. It’s time I put some of my other skills to use!"

Without thinking about it twice, he effortlessly summoned one of his new skills.

The skill made itself present in the shape of a sparkly, pink sneeze!

He sneezed at the ravens five whole times, and as the content of the sparkles made its way through their beaks, and into their respiratory system, all hell broke loose!

The ravens went haywire! They started hitting everything in sight, their own comrades included!

"Hehe," He watched the chaos unfold.

The ravens had gone into a psychotic rage, all because he sneezed on them! These were the charms of the Feathered Rage skill. This was the first time he put it to the test, and it was very effective.

The ravens hammered themselves down, breaking each other’s necks and spines alike! Their superior numbers dropped quickly.

"Well, that stupid Cockatrice came in handy once more, huh?" He said, "I can’t believe that it’s one and only god damn skill was this useful."
