Chapter 23: Chapter 23 : The Long Sail

Oberyn Martell (POV) :

What I had seen, what I had been seeing since the dreadful day when the Hightower fell was terrifying.

I had travelled the world, seen a lot of awful and even supernatural things. But I was a Viper and I could handle myself just fine. That much was always true. But not anymore.

I had met Helios at the inn, thinking of him a Lannister as I had heard the Lannister song from his room and he certainly looked like one. Better than a Lannister, far better than any he had seen.

But I had been quick to judge and now I almost wished that I had ignored him entirely.

This Helios of Troy had gotten himself in a Trial by Combat, I had admired his no nonsense attitude greatly. Even wished him good luck.

But I had believed the man to be utterly insane when he wanted to fight without armor and a weapon. A measly rock against a fully armoured knight.

But he had killed Gunthor with two hits, worst of all was his lack of effort. No normal human was ever that strong. Not even the Mountain. That name brought anger.

He had stayed on guard next to Helios since. He was not human. No human could toss a fully armoured knight away like pushing a child with a strong push.

But he had proved himself a good man when he went to rescue the girl. Only for the most downright diabolical event I could ever hope to witness.

The enitrety of Hightowers and Septons and maestars were possesssed by a witch, a witch that according to Helios was sent by the seven to hunt him down. As retaliation he had destroyed oldtown.

Atleast Obarra would be happy.

The story he had given for his origin had left me and everyone present questioning there entire existense.

He was a god, an actual god 15,000 years old. Son of an All father Odin.

He said he was from the stars. And he had sxplained the origin of man. It was nothing like the creation stories he had ever heard.

But the worse part was the fact that it was all to detailed. Too deep to be a made up lie. To genuine to be faked. He had seen liars before and Helios was not one.

He was the Sun god, banished for trying to start a war with a great evil. Apparently the world was a sphere and the sun was a giant ball of pure white flame burning hotter than any lava and it was also apparently over a million times begger than the Earth but too far away to eviserate us and too close to aloow us to freeze.

There were other worlds according to him, among the stars, millions of them. Each more different from the last. So far apart that in could not be comprehended by a mortal man.

I did not want to believe it, believing it meant everything I knew was a lie. But who could dare doubt him.

He shot fire out of his eyes, he turned the night into day temperarely when he destroyed the Hightower. He could fly and move faster than I could comprehend.

He could even see throught the world and sense my feelings of fear and panic around him.

Ellaria was also to scared for a couple days to say anything. No-one in the crew had wanted to be near him.

But time passed and with it any doubt. Sense was last as the my crew the dornish brethren of mine had begun basically worshipping him. He was an actual god. Banished and chained but he would be free soon.

Even Ellaria looked at him like she wanted his babies. Well, he was tempting. Looked exactly like how anyone would imagine a god.

I had decided he was safe. He had treated the two hightower girls nicely and I frankly wanted to have an adventure with a god. He had agreed but he was heading to Astapor of all places. That was strange.

I had requested him to dock at Sunspear for resupply but he had not wanted to delay. He believed complacency would be wasteful, they had enough to make it to Astapor.

He said the great evil knew he was banished and knew he was here. It would send monsters and demons to slay him. They won’t be able to kill him but mortal bodies were feeble.

The balst in King’s Landing was caused due to the great evil’s avatar R’hollar! That made too much sense.

Helios (POV) :

My skills as a manupilator were being well honed. I had actually convinced an entire crew I was a god! They actually believed it.

Choosing to follow me to wherever I went without any second questions. My charm had persuaded all of them.

I spoke like a king, nice but absolute.

Oberyn had still some doubt in his mind I could tell.

The Hightower girls were a real pain to deal with. Convicing them that their family was extinguised for good reason was difficult. But it’s not like anyone could object to the story I told them.

Rhea was quick to srop caring but the other girl a few years older. Her name Alys. She was actually loved in her family so she was a hard rock to break.

The next stop would be Astapor, bout time I started the plan of taking over the world. I had the gold to fool the Master, whatever hin name was.

The slaves would treat anyone who freed them like a god let alone an actual god like being. Just needed proper marketing to get a temple of my own soon.

I took a flight to the sky to think in silence. The crew had gotten used to it now. The Captain Hadred was a full blown fanatic, eager to serve me, well ateast he was my fanatic.

As I look at the empty expanse of the sky. My mind reaches a state of peace. There was a storm in the distance several hundreds of miles away, too far for the ship to be caught, too far to be noticed even. The Thunder was suprisingly pleasant

It was that which I lacked most right now. I had been very quick to plan the path ahead. But never once had I stopped to think about what I had gone through these past few days. I had taken lives, fought monsters and was now being hunted my this worlds forces. Worse still was how often I was naked.

This was stragely blissfull. A much needed therapy. I was brought here after experiencing the worst betrayel of my life. My head was not int he right place, that much I knew.

The armor looked good. It was just like I intended, truly money was well spent. It was almost perfect, perfect down to the last minute detail.

But there were better armor’s perhaps. He looked the part of a god with the armor but a Valyrian steel armor was tempting.

I would fly there, I looked straight at the Islands of Valyria, hundreds of miles away. They were covered in smoke. As I looked I noticed something beneath the water floor, moving.

It was large, very large. The view was not cleat but that thing had to be humungous. And it was moving towards my direction.

The storm, I noticed was moving with it.
