Chapter 24: Chapter 24. First rule of Wilderness Survival

Very soon, news spread throughout Derulo City.

Several organisations, including the Vorisa Guild, were having skirmishes with one another.

This was because of the deaths of their progenies in the death arena of Derulo City University.

Most of the members of the two societies that had wiped each other out were from influential backgrounds.

The loss of these geniuses represented the loss of the future generation of the heritage of these influential organizations.

It was only logical they sought explanations from the powers of the ones who had killed their children.

This led to conflicts between these organisations.

Although it did not become a full-scale conflict between these powers, as they were sensible enough to not destroy everything they had each worked for because of revenge, secret assassinations, ambushes, and defamations were happening.

Naturally, no one knew that a brown-haired young man with black eyes, dressed in a t-shirt, sneakers, and jeans, currently walking through a crowd as if he were any ordinary warrior, was the one who had engineered a situation for his own benefit, which had led to this outcome.

Currently, Aiden was looking through the news feeds on his phone.

He nodded. "Just as expected," after which he put his phone in his pocket.

He went through the crowds of university students, rounded several buildings, and arrived in front of the building where his lecture would be happening.

He quietly entered the building, then headed towards one of the lecture halls.

Aiden entered the lecture hall through a backdoor. He was sure that he was late for the lecture.

When he entered the lecture hall, the lecture hall was packed. This was his class group, class 1A.

Aiden sat down at the back.

The instructor was yet to arrive.

Several students were having conversations with one another.

"It’s really unfortunate. Some of our classmates were even part of them."

"Yeah. To think they’d go and kill each other. This university is a very ruthless place."

"Indeed. We need to be very careful with our decisions. There’s no way I’m joining any society."

"But joining a society can be good, too. You won’t get bullied by others easily. The only downside is you can be dragged into meaningless conflicts between societies because of obligations as a member."

"Yeah. Anyway, did you see the news?"

"Yeah, it’s mayhem out there. The powers behind those from influential backgrounds who died are going crazy. They’ve been targeting each other."

"Seriously, did those two societies think before they decided to kill each other?"

"Well, you can’t really blame them. Their hatred for each other had been fostered against each other for a long period of time. It was only a matter of time before this happened."

"Yeah. You have a point. Anyway, I heard we are getting a new student."

"Oh yeah. He was on the news recently. Aiden Vhorn."

"That guy? I heard he closed a gate."

"And he also beat up a second year so badly that the dude shit on himself."

"Yeah."

"Pfft... I have no doubts about this gate issue. But a lot of factors may come into play in closing a special gate. He had a tactical advantage, from the explanation that was given by the second years sent to close the gate," a guy with blond hair seated at the front said. He was dressed in some sort of suit. "As for the second-year student he beat up, I don’t think it’s true. It’s all rumors."

After he spoke, several people shut up.

It was obvious that he was someone influential in the class.

"Seriously, Vultor Han, your arrogance knows no bounds," a lady with blue hair replied. "Just because you are from a privileged background does not mean you should look down on everyone."

Desmonda was sick and tired of this bastard. Ever since he arrived on campus, he had been throwing his weight around in the class like the world revolved around him. Did he have some inferiority complex he wanted to project out on everyone or something?

"Desmonda Creed, I never mentioned your name. Why do you always like poking your nose into my business?" Vultor clicked his tongue.

This Desmonda was ranked higher than him on the Heavenly Ascension ranking list, so she thought she could bully him. Also, her father had an influential position in the office of Derulo City’s Mayor Office. Not only that, her father owned a guild.

Because of that, did she think he was a pushover?

He had to admit, she was easy on the eyes, though.

Desmonda sighed and ignored him.

"You fuckers should stop misbehaving. The instructor is almost here," a dark-haired dude with chocolate skin, wearing a hoodie said.

Everyone looked at him. Asmodeus Vincent of the Vincent Group of companies.

Why did such a monster have to come to Derulo City University? He was ranked higher than every first year on the Heavenly Ascension Ranking list.

Ranked 20,000 on the Heavenly Ascension Ranking list.

He was an absolute monster.

Should he not have stayed in Harland City and attended Harland Metropolitan University? This guy had to come here and cast his shadow on everyone, huh.

He was also the class monitor.

Aiden was observing everything quietly from the back seat.

"Those three are the alphas of Class 1A, huh. Interesting. That Asmodeus Vincent, I heard he has the gravity affinity. His family is filthy rich. The blond-haired guy must be from far away. I don’t know anything about him," Aiden thought.

"As for the Desmonda lady, she’s from a political background. Her father is Derulo City’s Mayor’s chief of staff. I should avoid them for now," Aiden thought.

The rest of the class were also having various discussions, when a pretty female instructor in a crop top, jeans, and sneakers walked in.

Her skin was fair and pale. She had tied her hair in a bun.

"Sorry I’m late," she said with a smile. "Just completed my two years of military service. I just arrived on campus this morning so pardon me for the lateness."

Most of the students didn’t register her presence.

She sighed. A very large pressure descended on everyone. It was as if they were being pinned to the ground.

"Gravity. Her affinity is gravity," Aiden thought.

Suddenly, everyone looked at her with terrified expressions.

"Good. These little shits are now paying attention," she thought.

The heavy weight disappeared as if it had never been there.

"First rule of wilderness survival. Never lose awareness of your environment."
