Chapter 480: Chapter 480: Hermione’s Doubt
Curly-haired Guy: Whoa, is Eriri going to perform a death-on-the-spot for us?
Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Hahaha, "death on the spot," I love it! That description is priceless!
Doujin Artist: You’re the one who’s going to die, get lost!
Curly-haired Guy: Tsk tsk, why the sudden outburst? Did I say something wrong, Gin? Isn’t leaving this world called "death on the spot"?
Doujin Artist: You’re clearly up to no good, do you really think others can’t tell? Is playing word games like this fun for you?
Soul Society’s Villain: He probably thinks it’s a lot of fun, getting a secret thrill out of it.
Machete Girl: Eriri, don’t bother with such a petty person. Remember to take lots of pictures when you get to the other world.
Curly-haired Guy: What petty person? Do you think Gin-san is petty after being so upfront? I’m not small in any way!
Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Tsk, playing on words again.
Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Is this way of speaking what they call "disgusting"?
Machete Girl: It really is disgusting, incredibly so!
Curly-haired Guy: What wordplay? Gin-san didn’t mean anything by it! You all yourselves misunderstood, you group of old perverts!
Lazy Kitten: Wow, he still dares to call others old perverts? Have you no shame? Do you have any shame at all? I’m embarrassed for you, seriously!
Lin Fengjiao: If he had any shame, he wouldn’t be Gin.
Lazy Kitten: That’s true, he’s the kind of guy who’d use his integrity as seasoning for his rice. If he actually had any, he wouldn’t be able to do these things. By the way, how’s Kotonoha doing? We haven’t heard any progress updates from you.
Machete Girl: Not good, I feel like I’ve been played. I’m heading home now, I’m soaked.
Doujin Artist: Huh? Weren’t you at that final stop already?
Eriri, who sent the message, was still waiting for the magic circle to finish charging, which required time to accumulate power. Claire and Ashley, standing on either side of her, were continuously reinforcing the magic circle’s operation. As time passed, a massive white light flashed across the entire sky.
Machete Girl: I went into those few towers too. All I found inside were a bunch of ritual items and strange written documents; nothing else.
Skirt-Flipping Maniac: What happened? Was the final boss not home?
Lazy Kitten: Is it possible there wasn’t a final boss set up in the first place? Maybe it was just an ordinary ruin?
Amegakure Village’s Angel: I can’t rule out that possibility, but I still think there’s something strange about it. If it was just a normal ruin, why would there be those ritualistic items? And why would that creepy bus make it its final stop? Is it all just a coincidence?
Shark-Faced Guy: I don’t think there are that many coincidences.
Lazy Kitten: All coincidences and chance occurrences are the inevitable results of formation, everything is the choice of Steins Gate. (Expression: resting chin on hand)
This is an Actor: Very out of character, my friend.
Jellall, who sent the message, had already returned to his dorm and was continuing to ponder the blueprints for the Tower of Paradise. Building this thing truly took a lot of effort; it’s no wonder those cultists spent over ten years and still didn’t finish it.
Knock, knock, knock.
Just as he was grumbling internally, the knock on the door sounded right on time.
"Come in, the door’s unlocked."
Creak.
Hermione’s fluffy head peeked in from the doorway, and she asked softly, "Luna isn’t here today?"
"She went to help with site selection," Jellall replied indifferently without turning his head. "Here, she’s the only one suited for this job."
After all, the construction of the Tower of Paradise required a vast area. It also needed a location and environment rich in magic, and finding such a place wasn’t easy.
Therefore, Luna, with her Ravenclaw memory and knowledge, was the most suitable for this task. She was more familiar with the surrounding environment and topography of Hogwarts than even Dumbledore.
"Oh?" Hermione didn’t think too deeply about it, but she visibly relaxed upon hearing Luna wasn’t present.
This girl’s senses were also very sharp. She felt that Luna now had a hard-to-explain, indescribable aura about her. This aura instinctively made her feel a bit fearful, as if she were facing a formidable elder.
Furthermore, she felt that Luna had some kind of intention towards Professor Zickrein. More than that fear, she disliked this kind of intention more. It made her uncomfortable, like when her favorite toy was snatched by another child when she was little.
So, she was quite happy to hear Luna wasn’t around. However, she naturally wouldn’t show this happiness, it was just a burst of little emotions inside her.
"Huh? Professor Zickrein, you’ve seen this news too?" Hermione noticed the Ministry Weekly next to the blueprints. The front-page headline clearly stated a great disaster for the Pollard-Jera family.
"Actually, Dumbledore already gathered the professors to discuss this before school ended," Jellall replied with a smile after glancing at her. "But none of us know what the answer to the problem is. Why would a house-elf attack its owner?"
"Yes, it’s too strange," Hermione frowned. "It’s like this hasn’t happened in the entire wizarding world for hundreds of years. How did that house-elf break through the enchantment?"
"It definitely wasn’t by itself," Jellall replied meaningfully.
"Are you saying someone else is behind this?" Hermione’s expression shifted between realization and worry. "Could this be Voldemort’s plot? Does he want to enslave house-elves to achieve his secret goal of not being trusted?"
"Voldemort wouldn’t do such a thing," Jellall shook his head and smiled. "Setting aside the fact that he looks down on the power of house-elves from the bottom of his heart, even if he were plotting something... he wouldn’t target pure-blood families. Because he still needs the power of pure-blood families to achieve his rule, not to mention the Pollard-Jera family is his staunchest supporter."
"Staunchest supporter? That means they’re Death Eaters!" Hermione was stunned. "Why aren’t they in Azkaban, and yet they can openly enjoy noble treatment?"
"That brings us to another issue," Jellall said, tapping the table gently with his finger. "Where do you think the Ministry’s funding comes from?"
